Delta is TOO REAL for Dragrace. She is too genuine, too honest and intelligent to play the whole reality TV bullshit game. And she'll still be a fierce working queen long after this dragrace generation will get bored with the manipulation of talent.
Delta is so classy, even with the 'awkward' questions around RuPaul and Raven - she answers them honestly and without drama, so 'matter of fact', she could have bitched and moaned about them, but she just laid out the issue she had and how that made her feel, no personal attacks even though we'd forgive her if there was! Love Delta.
Yes soooo classy no name calling really no shade just very matter of fact ...I really couldn't have been a bigger for after this I I LOVE YOU DELTA MORE!!
Love Delta. Her self-awareness is quite refreshing. I can't believe people are still coming after her for a show filmed more than a decade ago. And she is on point about who they are NOT coming for. So she had some shady moments. You're still talking about them. STILL. That's TV. And it's why those earlier seasons were vastly more entertaining than what we get today.
Delta is one of those people I’d chose when people say ‘if you can had anyone dead or alive to sit and have dinner with, who would it be’ so genuine, so real, she can go from humour, to conversational, to sincere to serious and I love her depth, she’s so IT 👏🏽
"They were hiring a new best friend for Ru Paul." This hurts me so much to hear because it's the truth. Knowing what Ru and WOW did to Mathu is disgusting, and they should all be ashamed about how they treated him after everything he contributed for decades.
Can you imagine doing hair, makeup and wardrobe all in one for that absolute DIVA (not in a good way) for years and being excommunicated because you asked for a raise? I never. Mathu (sp?) did it all and was treated like shit even during health scares by someone who was literally transformed into Rupaul by him everyday.
“Even if you wouldn’t have done it for me, I would have done it for you” Wow, this interview is so genuine and honest but also heartbreaking and relatable on so many levels. I find myself relating to Delta a lot through out the interview and the quote above incapsulates that feeling. Delta talks from her heart unapologetically and i could not be in more admiration. Delta you have gained a new found respect and fan
This is an interview I think anyone who calls themselves a fan of Drag Race should be tuned into. No hero’s or villains in Delta’s story, just an honest account of how production handles itself. Calling herself and Joesph “collateral damage” is so chilling considering the talent and professionalism both possess and display. Anyone can be treated unfairly at any moment, and it takes a big person to treat people right, but an even bigger person to advocate not only for themselves to be treated fairly, but their peers as well. Amazing interview and this felt like a long time coming.
i love Delta... but I'm sorry, where she went wrong is when she said to them "I don't do hair on extras". Unless it's a really large shoot, the main hairdresser ALWAYS does hair for whomever needs it in the production. Them asking her to do that was NOT to demoralize her in any way, it was a way that they could give her FULL TIME WORK, so it would be worth her time and money to join the union. Delta needed to go on youtube and watch some interviews with legendary people in the business like Judy Crown, she did hair for the star, and for guest stars, and for extras. They all do. When Bob Mackie designed costumes for the Carol Burnett show and Sonny and Cher, he designed beautiful gowns for Carol and Cher, but he also designed comedy costumes for skits, for extras, costumes for dancers. Every piece of clothing you saw on Carol Burnett and Sonny and Cher was decided on by him. Telling production that you are too grand to work on an extra is a sure way to get yourself let go. World of Wonder are no angels, don't get me wrong... they do a LOT of questionable things. But this was not one of them.
@@brockreynolds870 While I agree with some of what you said (expect Delta doing wrong), I think what you are missing is that when you are the lead hairdresser on a project, you usually have a team and are paid as a lead. Bob Mackey probably had a team working under him to get all the costumes done every week. You honestly think it was just him making those costumes by himself? I have worked in the industry and can tell you he most definitely had a team. With Delta WOW was just being so cheap that they wanted her to do all the hair while still getting paid the same amount she was getting paid to just do Ru's hair. They could have told her she would get paid hella extra and have a team for all that work but no...they tried to use her expecting that she would be a "yes" person. Sometimes they remember "yes" people and you get rewarded down the road and sometimes "yes" people get used by the industry. I have been in that position and it makes you not want to be a "yes" person any more. So while you are right, you are literally not taking into account position title, pay, teams, etc. There is way more that goes into it than your simplified examples. And the you have to factor in union stuff on top of that. And cost of travel. A lot of times the production companies who are cheap expect you to pay for your own travel and supplies as well. And we don't know all the gritty details of what her contract was so all we can do is say is was a bad situation for both sides and that Delta handled it way more professionally than WOW because honestly if WOW had come correct and not been so cheap Delta probably would still be doing that job and we would not have "Very Delta". So, thank you WOW!
@@DaddyBearXXXL I mean, you will get NO argument from me that WOW is cheap.... however I never heard anything in Delta's interview about being offered the same pay for more work (that would be a different kettle of fish). I was gripped by this, Delta is so interesting and open and there moments here that I feel we haven’t seen before, a side to Delta that she is feeling more confident to expose. There is so much content out there that centres around drag and it can be hard to sort the wheat from the chaff sometimes, but this is a top level, quality interview; thank you both!
The way the fallout between Delta and WOW could have been avoided so easily. Especially if WOW was clear about the opportunity, aren't they professionals of years in Hollywood? Gee.
It’s so odd to me. It seems clueless and cruel. Why would you treat people that way unless you considered them disposable? Hire an HR person! You can let people go without burning bridges and behaving unprofessionally. It’s too bad. Even if Delta had aired dirty laundry or dropped names they didn’t want mentioned, it doesn’t serve them to treat people this way. It’s the antithesis to the “everybody say love” mantra. There’s some definite cognitive dissonance here. Ru is known as being someone that looks out for people and takes care of them. Recall the story of Ru selflessly running the spotlight for the queens at a night club in CA prior to drag race, because she told them they deserve a spotlight. I adore the persona Ru has created.
I feel what she is saying about her friendships to my core. You can be whoever you are to me, but if you're fake or disingenuous, it's worse than being out of my life.
