Here is what, was happening. Buck wanted Don to take all the lead breaks on the fast songs, and Tom got all the lead breaks on the slow songs. If you listen to Susan’s song, Tom got all the fills & breaks. The only slow song that Buck did, was SECOND FIDDLE. It goes, without saying, why Don got all the lead breaks on that song. Just read two books about Buck Owen’s (one was authorized, the second one was unauthorized),that’s where I got my information.
@@ClassicCountryMusicShows Oh no, I wasn't saying it wasn't true. I'm just shocked. She even said in an interview that she met Jerry Wiggins on her first show with Buck but clearly Willie Cantu is still in the band here. Crazy.
Wow great show! Thank you so much!
Keep uploading these things. Every one is great!
Buddy Alan is Buck's son. Buck used to have him on Hee Haw a lot and my mom always commented on how much he looked like his dad. Very true.
susan raye great singer.
Wow, they didn't give Tom Brumley any lead breaks back in this era.
On Susan Raye's joint though.

So confused. Nothing I read has Susan playing with them in 1966. Everything I find has her starting in 1968.
Proof is on the chalkboard at the beginning of the show.
