  • The Leaf Village is often portrayed as the heroic heart of the Naruto world, but how much of its history is built on nationalism, secrecy, and conflict? In this video, I dive into whether the Hidden Leaf could be considered evil, examining its role in major conflicts-from the Uchiha Clan’s downfall to Pain’s vendetta, its wars with other nations, and, of course, Danzo’s underhanded schemes.
This is a deep dive into the wrongdoings of Konoha and the consequences of its nationalism. Was it all truly for the greater good, or was the village just as flawed as its enemies?
🔴 Check out my new playlist: The Duality of the Village - where I explore the complex morality of Konoha!

The Leaf is not inherently evil but I think the optimism of Naruto basically cleanses all the misfortune Konoha has brought about the ninja world. We know Naruto is 100% willing to fix the Leaf from the inside but rather unfortunately he’s still interested in keeping the status quo. Something I’m sure must still bother Sasuke on some level.

      2. The original purpose of the jutsu was to revive someone that could then take others out without them dying, kamikaze style. This implies that the original purpose was the quick revival of someone already deceased on the battlefield by using a dying/lethally injured soldier irrespective of the allegiance. The jutsu's original purpose oozes Tobirama's meritocratism and pragmatism. He tunnel visioned onto that singular purpose and didn't account for the possible ways the jutsu could be misused.

@JuubiTaz i have a question itachi and sakumo Itachi Uchiha put the village before his own family and friends. He slaughtered his mother, his father, elders, youngsters... But he was praised as a true shinobi by Hashirama and Naruto themselves. The orders he was forced to obey were never questioned or labeled as completely wrong. Itachi Uchiha was the embodiment of what a true shinobi is supposed to be... and, according to the narrative, this is a good thing.
Sakumo Hatake put his friends before his village. He disobeyed his orders, he screwed up his mission, because he couldn't endure the possibility of losing his friends. Then, when he fell into disgrace following the severe consequences of his actions, he couldn't endure the shame he brought on himself, so he committed suicide, leaving his very young son all alone.
However, after his experience with Obito, Kakashi re-valuated his father's feelings and fully embrace what he and Obito believed in, that those who discard their friends are worse then those who disobey their orders. Sakumo's cowardly suicide was never addressed, and apparently he wasn't even remembered in history as a disgraceful shinobi, quite the contrary his legacy is still respected, if we take into account that, when Shikaku proposed Kakashi as the Hokage substitute, the Damiyo immediately thought that being the son of Sakumo, the White Fang, as a good credential.
Sooo... at the end of the manga it seems that both Itachi Uchiha and Sakumo Hatake were praised and remembered as role models despite being the opposite of each other.
Itachi was able to endure, Sakumo wasn't, but both their beliefs are regarder as right and positive.

So yeah Tobirama did what he had to do. Just cuz you're humans doesn't mean they deserve human rights when they can become extremely powerful beings that only a top tier Senju could possibly defeat. The whole ninja system is a glorified paid killers who work for feudal lords who have a lot of political power that is never seen for any good, and you better believe that when the villages were made they had a lot more military resources to use, but because other feudal lords were scared of each other they start to fund their villages and create a endless cycle of war which demanded more ninja which made the villages use child soldiers. Realistically the shinobi systems is extremely corruptible as no matter how noble the Kages could be, all it will take is one who wants to create more conflict for new power and growth, and sadly with other Kages more focus on their own people they will do everything to make the system continue. Zabuza and Haku is a symptom of the system and we as the audience should be horrified, and what I hate a lot is how the First Hokage praised Itachi for being a great ninja even though he should have hated the fact that his village made a young boy kill his whole clan because he need to prove his loyalty, which could have been a ironic example of how Madara was right about what the village could have been done.

The reason why Sasuke is my favorite character is that he had went trough so much, never stopped asking or wanting to know the truth before he made his own judgment. When Sasuke learned about how messed up the village was, and what they made not only him but also Itachi go trough just for him to see Danzo wearing his clan eyes like bracelets ofc the last thing he would do is protect the village. The peace his everything had to be sacrificed for, the fact that he had to push, hate and kill his brother just to find out that if he had actually learned the truth sooner he could have spent at least 8 years with his brother wouldn't be appealing to him. It wouldn't be to anyone in his shoes.
Sasuke saw how messed up the system was, the history, the government and even the people were. (They bullied the kid of their savior just because he was keeping the 9 tales from attacking their asses.) He wanted to change it, and I did agree with many parts of his revolution. In the real world, Naruto ideal would have never lasted more than a month, the 5 villages will return to war. Even if Sasuke did change, I don't think his own essence did. He is well aware that he alone may not be able to break the system, but he could assure that with Naruto and him overlooking things, they have a chance to change the course of actions, by raising up a new generation unaffected by past traumas.
The reason I hate Shikamaru even when he was one of my fav is because to me he is like Tobirama. I feel like he holds the same double standard, judging and fearing attitude. Like he was always against Sasuke, even when the latter spent more than 10 years fighting and protecting the village. He had to sacrifice spending time with his family and so on. In the end, Sasuke believed Sarada over his own memories, going to the extent of saving, mentoring and guiding Boruto, returning once more as a rogue Ninja. Shikamaru still saw him as an ennemy in a single moment.
At the end of the day, the villages were the true villains, and yet we were meant to see them as heroes. The moment you disagree you are hated, such as the character themselves like Sasuke, or even viewers who could see a different picture.

I would argue Danzo was evil but everyone else was trying to do the best they could with a shitty situation. Hashirama was more or less a good man but Tobirama was a racist fr, Hiruzen had his faults (a lot of them) but he wasn't that bad either, Minato was easily the best Hokage they had up until then, and considering she never wanted it originally I'd say Tsunade did very well for herself as Hokage.
And then you have the whole situation with Sasuke who was (rightfully) pissed off at the leaf after finding out that they made his brother kill his entire clan, take the blame for it, and then go work with a terrorist organization as a mole. Obviously he wasn't right in actually trying to take revenge against Konoha but the fact that he was angry enough to do it anyway makes perfect sense, remember that this realization is what awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan. This mans whole world and belief system was revealed to be completely false and his own home country was responsible for everything, I'd be pissed off too if I were him.

Danzo AND those 2 elders too if you ask me. They were kinda like 2 old turds that Danzo used whenever he was plotting something. It just goes to show what the students of the 2nd Hokage turned out like. I guess Kagami, Hiruzen and maybe Torifu? turned out fine.
Yes I think a lot of them were trying to make the best of a messy situation, and Sasuke had every right to be upset with the Leaf. His actions are the reaction to the Uchiha clan massacre, by the lone survivor. But yes, many of the Hokage were well intentioned,
I love the 1st, 4th to 6th Hokage, but still there's only so much that the Hokage could do when it comes to peace & fairness for all. Thats why Naruto what's needed. Someones that's able to be everywhere at once and take on all the hatred by himself

    - What do you think would happen if Madara became first hokage? I would say Konoha would become an Uchiha lead aristocracy and monarchic dictatorship under Madara. The alternative was much worse. Tobirama had the Senju clan disbanded so this wouldn't happen.
    - The Uchiha clan's doom is more on Madara's hands than Tobirama. The Uchiha clan betrayed Madara to side with the Senju with the election of Hashirama. Madara hated the Uchiha clan more than Tobirama ever did.
    - It doesn't make sense that the police force would be seen as criminals and later labeled victims after the massacre. The Uchiha clan was liked by the ninja at large and thats why it all was covered up. If the government was honest about what happened there would be unrest. Anyone with common sense would appreciate the police for what they do to protect their nation. And from the looks of it the Uchiha police force was not oppressive.

Tobirama himself said that 1st Hokage should be chosen by voting. And its the best thing to do. He himself said "Selecting Madara for the leader is fine but the decision should come by asking all people in the village". He also developed Reanimation jutsu so he can send zombies instead of his own people to battlefield. The Uchiha Police Force was great thing too. Uchiha wanted power, he gave them power. Plus he had his own Uchiha subordinate Kagami Uchiha. Tobirama did put always village in the first place and that's how every great leader does. Tobirama also said "No matter what clan someone belonged to, if someone did something against the village I acted with extreme caution and there's no doubt that the Uchiha just happened to be a clan that warned my suspicions." "No clan feels deeper love than the Uchiha and that's why they supresed and sealed it away. When the Uchiha runs in agony or in a disappointment in themselves, the unique chakra is released in their brain changing the appear in that person's eye. This phenomenon is called the sharingan, eyes that reflect the heart. Although it's a bit problematic, there is a high risk of losing control". So Tobirama only feared that if someone becomes another Madara it would be dangerous for the village. He didn't hated them, he didn't liked their emotional problems due to sharingan that can be dangerous for the village. By the way Tobirama is also the first Kage ever to form an alliance with other country The Cloud Village. But he and 2nd Raikage were Ambushed by Kinkaku and Ginkaku and it resulted in both kage's deaths. For me Tobirama is definitely the best Hokage. His leadership was awesome and he won in every battle except his last one.

I fee this is very biased.
Madara betrayed the village because he tought he might be undermined in the future, he created the circumstances for people not to trust the uchiha.
Aftert that, the uchiha choose to remain separated from the village, just like the hyuga, they want a compound to themselves while living inside a walled city, of course qhen it expands its gonna be further away.
Also, there are a lot of clans in the foinding of konoha, most of them didn't have a hokage either, and none of them were the police force
So madara betrayed the village, the uchiha separated themselves, an uchiha was behind the 9 tails attack, and they staged a coup became se talking seemed like it wouldn't work, so they didnt tried.
The children were innocent, but the clan did wverything to make the situation worse.

So the thing is is adding a western viewpoint to the violence that the leaf village used that's an incorrect way to do an analysis because they're warriors their whole purpose is to kill. When you're at war you don't think about others you only think about how you can slaughter your enemy and as it should be because you win the war with pure destructive power you don't win a war with giving hugs. The Shinobi world was at war at the time of the Uchiha massacre. So you don't use The view that they deserve human rights their warriors they have one job to slaughter the enemies foreign and domestic.

  • @joshfarrow9707
    @joshfarrow9707 2 дня назад

Tobirama didn't make all of the policies that made konoha a warring power. Did he put the Uchiha on notice treat them differently yes, but on the other hand when you look at what the Uchiha are capable of you always have to assume that they're going to be dangerous because they're mentally unstable due to the power of the Sharingan. He did what he needed to protect the others when it comes to small minorities they mean nothing in the big picture. small groups don't outweigh the importance of only looking at the large amount of people because the whole purpose of a village stayed a country is to serve the majority of people not the small amounts of people because they mean absolutely and utterly nothing to the system. You want to ensure that the majority of people are doing what they can to better society not small weak or dangerous people. Tobirama ensure the village would survive by making them ruthless combat Powers which in a ninja State like konoha and the world of the shinobi's then ya tobirama did his job and ensuring that the village survived do you have to do evil things to ensure you survive absolutely. The issue with a lot of the comments here is that you're looking at this from a western way of thinking and it's stupid because when everything hits the fan if you don't think like tobirama does you are a dead human being as the issue that's going to arise you're going to have to do horrible things to keep yourself alive. the American people especially have forgotten what hardship and war-torn countries is like because we're so far disconnected from everything we live in our own little world the rest of the world is not pleasant and it was never meant to be.
