Ya Gotta use Lube, for taking it off the rim, and putting it back on! Lube is your best friend 👍 Just an old 67 year old farmer's opinion. Yes I have done quite a few in my life😎
I have the bead buster and have been practicing on smaller tires will do tractors this summer. You are right about the lube. I put it in empty dish soap bottles and squirt it on. When you broke the bead you should have just moved bead buster to a different spot that way no hammer needed. Would like to see a better picture of the valve puller through tool.
Great video! Labor for changing a tire here is $100.00. That's if you take the tire and wheel to a tire shop, no service call. That kind of money motivated me to start changing my own tires too!
Great Video. That made my back hurt, but $150 bucks is $150 bucks. The bead breaker is an absolute must have tool for that work. Looking forward to the 1155 Paint Job. Thanks
I like how you did that tire. for a new tire change guy, you sure earned a few tire-changer merit badges. and at the end,if that was your wife, she has a mean kick...
Hey JT, that looked easy!:) Well at least you've discovered things that work and things that don't! I've never done a tractor tire but have done 20" split rim stuff ( thank God they're gone) and 22.5 which are pretty easy. I bought the same auto tire changer you have from Fleet Farm several years ago. Bent up the same way. But $50 an hour is a pretty good part time job! Not to mention the workout!:) Thanks JT
Your first time. My first time, I had never re-baled hay till yeasurday. It was fun unrolling it using the front fork and by 🖐. Have a great weekend, I also joined your viewers club and #64👍.
man that bead breaker is way nice ive changed a few bigger tires with my old man when i was younger without that and theres a lot more swearing and big pry bars and big mauls flying around then what you had lol
Any kind of lube will make life much easier. Soapy water or even diesel fuel helps. I use grease on the beads when reinstalling. Proper tire bars would make a world of difference. Having the right curve and hook to the end really helps. I try to mount everything that I can tubeless- saves a ton of monkeying around.
Right on! I will be getting a pair of the actual spoons with the right curves for the others. Getting this one done without a service call paid for them. I used soap on the new one. Slid on pretty good I think 😉
I need to learn how to change tractor tires too! I need a tire on my 2-155. They quoted me the tire price plus a tube and labour. The tube and labour is $750.00
That labor charge is robbery. I had a tube replaced for a cracked valve stem last year. Total was $275 for tube and labor including pumping calcium out and refilling.
Nice project, great channel. Back in 1978 when I was just 9 years old we had a brand new Massey 1805 out on the farm , we also had a brand new 1155 work horse, an 1135 for wagons and spraying. My grandfather owned the local equipment dealership which was of course Massey Ferguson. We always had top of the line equipment out in the field. My favorite is the 1155. Tires are never a fun job no matter what but you overcame.
After getting the outside bead off I can see pulling on one of those j hook bars with a tractor so the inside bead just pulls off. However one could hook onto the wrecking bar with the tractor. It is much stronger than you.
Nice job JD I did the rear tires on my tractor last year out of four tubes. Three of them didn’t hold air wound up having to get the tire pro to come out and do the finish the. 😂😅
It's obvious that you done your homework and learned most of the tricks ahead of time. Now that you have done one of those big tires, the next tire will take half the time to change. You did better than some of the, so called professionals, that I have dealt with. With a great debeading tool, its not that bad of a job to do. Also, I know what you were thinking. DAMMIT WOMAN! Stop that, I'm trying to make a video here! 🤣🤣🤣👍
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 your old tire looks like it has way more tread left than mine! What size is that? My duals are a smaller size as I suspect yours are also.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 the clutch is out on my tractor but when I get that replaced will probably look at getting some better tires. Mine aren't cracked up but pretty much no tread left. I think they are the original tires from new.
Painful to watch at times, at least you had a bead breaker, on the hundreds of rear tractor tyres (tires!) I never had a bead breaker, bloody wish I had. At the start, i always knocked beads off on both sides first, before attempting levering the bead off, what was my best friend at that stage was " her in doors that has to be obeyed " her washing up liquid, squirt both beads, don't be too greedy levering bead off, little and often that was my motto, when it comes to fitting new tyre (tire) liberally coat both beads with the liquid, this also helps when putting air in, they pop out very easy, ...........OH & yes, I was always on my own, more often outside in some shitty farm yard or half way across a ploughed (plowed) field, real good swear words can come in handy, though I bet you used a few out of camera shot.......
LMAO for those cross-fit wieners that only flip the tire on their gym room floors! They have no idea. Did I mention I have to do this times 2 on my MF 1100?
You just tripled the value of that old work horse. Our 1805 needs a new pair of shoes as well. It's tough to invest that kind of money into her before I get the jackshaft and clutch situation sorted though.
At the beginning of this video you said you didn't have the tools to tackle those big tires, well you either lied or forgot because looks like to me you had just about every tool you needed
@@crippledrider well, I had every tool that I had available work. I did have the bead breaker, but the crow bar is not exactly a good tractor tire spoon. I believe I said I didn’t have the “best” tools to tackle the job. Are you gonna be one of those guys that nitpicks everything I do? 😆😆

Looks like a good way to catch a tire iron right in the baby makers!! Drive on brother
There ain’t no quit in this man. 💪🏻
Great job JT . Red bastard will pull like Godzilla .
good job jt,the real trick is not pinching the tube
Changed a pair of tires on a 4020 over 30 years ago, that's when I decided trucking was easier!
Bravo ! Bravo ! I'm just exhausted watching you do that. Better you then me.

Just a thought,,gallon jug of dawn dish soap with water and a hole drilled in the lid. Slippery,,,

😆 thanks! Them tires are no picnic lol
Put warm dish soap or oil on the wheel as you go it will help a lot. Good luck.
I would put in a new tube as well. They wear out and it would save doing it again.
tire work is equivalent to coal mining, hate it! 🤣
That is purty good savings, if you have the muscle. Dealing with calcium is a different story. 😊

A little bit of soapy water, or some kind of lube goes a long way when you're doing those big tires
Great job on the tires.
Well done JT another skill learned. I think we all need a sit down with a beer after that.😂🇺🇸🇬🇧

Tires are such a terrible expense! Just go slow and walk away when you get frustrated. That helps keep your sanity lol.
That labor charge is robbery.
I had a tube replaced for a cracked valve stem last year. Total was $275 for tube and labor including pumping calcium out and refilling.
A little soapy water around the bead would have made it easier to mount and dismount the tire.

Atb john
It isn’t the most fun job on this farm 😉
I’ll take a last minute video any time.
Good job
You mean, how many things could go wrong
A major job done I am to old for that but you showed the lazies how it's done
Gave it my best shot anyway! At least I didn’t have to take it to the “pros” lol
I've been using cooking spray like Pam for tire lube works very well
I will try that! Easy to use and cost effective 😉

Yes! I always hope people will stick around till the end!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 you did not disappoint my friend!
Some sopey water on the tyre beed to make it slippy
Next time use tyre lube or soap. Makes it go easy.
great video but i think i would get tyre men out
Being a tire guy for 25 years, with proper tools and lube I could and have put all 4 on in 2.5hrs lol
Tire service call is usually around $75....
That’s half what my last one was!

Wouldn’t it be better to make it tubeless?😬
That's an ambitious project. In my case the new tires for my 1805 would cost more than my tractor is worth.
4 tires tripled the price of mine 😆😆
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 your old tire looks like it has way more tread left than mine! What size is that? My duals are a smaller size as I suspect yours are also.
