- I spent some time trying different settings for engraving photographs on my Thunder Laser BOLT. I'll share some tips I have learned so far and some settings for using Stucki and Jarvis Image Modes in Lightburn. I also engrave using the 1.5" Lens and the 2.5" Lens. Try out my settings on your BOLT and let me know how it turned out. Cheers!

Gord your hands on learning is phenomenal! Your images look great. I like how the image now has a 3D effect. Something that is not possible with a laser or inkjet printer. The added extra dimensions makes the image unique. You got me in the end when you said:” …grabbing my alcohol..” then I heard cotton swabs 😅 I appreciate you and you channel. I look forward to learning with you every week. Have a beautiful rest of your day
LOL! It got me too after I watched it. Thanks kindly - have a great week! GP
Remarkable results, Gord. I bet you have a whole list of people wanting their photos engraved now!
Good day Doug!
Man this looks great. I keep getting random lines on my engravings. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. But I also have a different machine. I have an atom stack a5.
FANTASTIC!!!!
Nice video Gord - trial and error is the saying - if you don't try it, you'll never know. Cheers and have a great week.
Cheers Buddy!
Gord, you are a very patient man. i'd be standing there saying 'faster dog gone laser, faster." Looks nice. I wonder how the wood would take to using a stain on it such as sepia tone. Or would that bring out stuff in the wood itself. You do a great job. Take care Gord. By the way, 1" of snow this past Saturday with a high of 25F. And Wednesday it's supposed to be 60F here in Harbor Beach, MI.
Morning Jerome! Yes nothing here either and double digits positive this week. Cheers!
Great job Gord, you're getting this down pat and the products are turning out fantastic. I am enjoying watching you having all the fun you're having with the experimenting and turning out good prints. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Fred.
Good morning Fred!
beautiful! i wonder if you could up the speed and power to get the same result at a fraction of the time. that would be a good test!
Nice! Thanks for this video. Why not crank up the speed? Curious what that biggest picture would look like at top speed, and what the run time would be
Morning Caleb. Great question. I will at some point. Just taking it in steps as I test different settings so I can see the difference. Thanks!
Are you having problems with small parts breaking off during the cleaning process, resulting in lighter spots where it should be shadow? I notice between your attempts lighter parts are showing in different places.
great video alot of good info for people like myself. i built my machine and tested it and it works well but i am new so all info is good to know for me. but you say how you use 35% power but you never say how big the laser is or how much watts of power it can use at 100% for us to calculate our own to match. mine is a 20w air assisted longer laser cutter engraver and i guess it can colorize on stainless steel! i never saw anything like it using a laser to make real colors! let us know the power for your please. thanks for sharing!
Have you engraved photos on acrylic?
Hi Beth. Not yet - have you? How did it go?
