One tip for the spray painting in Jet Set Radio. Don't let go of the stick after each part, keep it pushed in the direction the first move ends in as it links into the next one and so on.
Much easier to get them to work and it feels much better as well.

ZOE2 didn't run quite as well before it was entirely re-coded by HexaDrive (PS3 HD version) so be sure to get the update if you're going to play that one. Otherwise it's also out on PS4 and is VR/4K compatible!

There is ONE feature that the Dreamcast version of Jet Grind/Set Radio have that didn't make it to the re-release. One of my favorite features. The ability to upload your own artwork and have it download into the game so you can spray your own illustrations throughout the city. Me and my brothers are artists, and we was loving that! My younger brother is a graffiti artist, my older brother is a comic book artist, and I'm an animation artist. And we spread our art all over those digital cities! lol.

its interesting about Twilight Princess, because the very basic widescreen hack setting on a modded Gamecube or Wii outputs the game in perfect non-stretched progressive 16:9 with no problem whatsoever. the game doesn't even need to be altered in any way, it basically just sets a couple flags to widen the view, and it adjusts the HUD and fills the screen even better than the Wii version. theres absolutely no reason they couldn't have done it on the gamecube version lol.

HD Remasters are great due to these reasons in my personal opinion:
    -Mostly released as a collections.
-Mostly the visuals & sounds are improved.
-Mostly the known issues in OG release is fixed.
    -Better performance.
-Some contains tweaks for limited playtime guys.
    -Playable on current gen.
    -Nostalgic.

@@tacotoosday42 Actually before the HD generation, almost all devs threw their source codes away not thinking they'd need them. That happened with Squenix and Kingdom Hearts... which had to be rebuilt almost from scratch for it's HD versions. Also they once said that Final Fantasy 8 might never get remastered because it's code was lost. But they must have retrieved it somehow... probably by reverse engineering the physical disc.

"Does any Nintendo proper game let you reassign the button layout?"
Super Metroid. For some reason the default setup used the A and X buttons to jump and shoot instead of B and Y like any normal game would use. Fortunately you can remap the buttons.

I really like that companies are doing HD or even porting to newer consoles. Going back to older games when you've been playing a newer system can make them look so bad even though the gameplay is great. So it can deter you from the experience. Being able to play it at a current Gen standard is a dream in some cases. A remake can also inject capital into studios for future development or show them that there is still life left in older franchises. If done right an HD remake is a thing of beauty.

I feel like the HD Twilight Princess got the most love from Nintendo. The Wolf Link amiibo is great in general, but it unlocks a new dungeon that you fight in only in wolf form. Plus you can save your data from TP to it and load in Wolf Link into Breath of The Wild with his health matching what your hearts were at in TP.

Lol and here I thought I was the only one that enjoyed the Tank controls on the early Resident Evil games. I also can't imagine playing the early games any other way and I quite enjoy it as it's a unique feeling experience. That's the best way I can think to describe it. I particularly like the way it feels when using the knife with the tank controls.

As long as the originals are still available I think remasters/remakes made with care are a great idea. :)

Jet Set Radio HD is missing Yappie Feet, one of the best songs in the game. Plays when you battle one of the gangs.

I was expecting you to talk about Shenmue 1 & 2 remaster on the PS4, Xbox One and PC Joe. With you being an absolute fanatic for those games as well as the highly anticipated conclusion releasing this November you really should of gotten the remaster and discuss in full detail for this episode. I myself have already beaten both games as well as platinum trophied both games btw. Next discuss Shenmue 1 & 2 remaster and do before Shenmue iii comes out this fall.

Wish there was an HD remaster for Resident Evil 3. Then Nemesis would be even more terrifying.

Twilight Princess actually released on the Wii first. Nov. 18th, Wii's launch day. The Gamecube version released a couple of weeks later in December.

In the Zelda on the WiiU they probably blocked that area in the water off because players might think that they're supposed to rescue the monkey by swimming to it and waste their time doing so.

Yes, Zelda TP is native 1080p on WiiU, no upscaling on this remaster. And I think you would love some of these remasters on PC because they run at 60fps instead of 30fps. And in the Resident Evil Remake Remaster, Capcom had lose the source material so this is why some backgrounds are not good, but on RE Zero they have the source material so this is why it's so much better.

You know how Joe always pushes the volume slider up on the Genesis? I wish he would've tucked the controller wire into the slot when he was showing the Dreamcast.
Also, I'm so happy Joe still mentions whether a game has a physical release or not. Just when I was wondering if Jet Set Radio HD got a disc version on PS3, Joe says they never made one. Thanks for that.

HD remasters are most times a great thing - they update the visuals of good games, and, back when physical media was a thing (I miss that time) you could conveniently own a whole collection of games you had missed on in just one disk (MGS, DMC, Jak and Daxter...).
But I think that HD _remakes_ are a God sent. I love when some dev decides to take a game of old, limited by tech of the time, and then breathe new life into it, proving that if the new systems had been available back then, _that_ is what we would've gotten instead.
