    Very good video I just did my strut watching this video but you miss to show one key crucial information the camber adjustment is in that bottom bolt I had to figure that out.

    The only tip I would add would be: when removing the wiper blade arms, to push the arm toward the windshield at the arm joint otherwise you’ll never get the arm off, because the arm doesn’t sit on the bolt squarely.

    Isn't that how the Camber is adjusted on these vehicles? Isn't that why the bottom strut hole is elongated to adjust camber? A tire alignment would be necessary after strut replacement.

    Thank you so much for the video! One thing to note however is that YOU HAVE TO ADJUST THE BOTTOM BOLT to get more negative camber because I just put it in without paying attention to the adjustment and got a crooked steering wheel, and stabilitrak/traction control errors, once I adjusted it, it all went back to normal

    • @damojan
      @damojan 2 года назад +2

      Camber has nothing to do with your stabilitrak or traction control. That system is affected by the wheel speed sensor, which you probably lost connection to, or forgot to plug back in the first time. Alternatively, the wheel bearings on these vehicles us an exposed magnetic ring on the back of the bearing, which is prone to breaking off when the spindle is subject to heavy blows of a hammer. The amount of adjustment alowed is less than 10 degrees, which even at its max in either direction, could not affect the angle of your steering wheel.

    I’ve see other posts online that have the following torque specs, which differ from what’s stated in the video. Which specs are correct?
    Sway bar linkage - 52 ft lbs
    Lower knuckle bolts - 108 ft lbs
    Upper mounting bolts - 61 ft lbs

    A few things I would suggest: Remove the wipers and plastic covering 1st, before you jack the car up and also get a front end alignment once you're done.

      Yeah my alignment was all kinds of jacked up after replacing mine.

    • @Largent13
      @Largent13 3 года назад

      Why would the alignment be off...you aren't messing with the caster...and the two bottom bolts aren't slotted so there is no camber adjustment on these vehicles...

    • @richtee3470
      @richtee3470 3 года назад

      @@Largent13 I had an alignment done already for an un-related issue (Acadia steering system problem) After this strut update , steering definitely even to the untrained eye/drive needed a fresh alignment.

    Hi , can we remove the shock from the coil ( because usually the Coil is in good condition) and just
    Replace the shock in the coil ? Why changing all the unit ?
    It would cost a lot to replace all the unit .

    • @rossh3806

      you need special tools and its very dangerous to remove the coil as its under extreeme tension.

      Also whichever side is bad you'll feel even sometimes hear it hit hard and ride more rough on that particular side. I'm going through this with my wife's acadia as soon as my new strut gets here!

      I know this is old and I revived it but 50-60K miles is recommended to replace shocks struts. some vehicles say 80K so that’s a pretty good starting point vs waiting for hard hits and possibly causing damage.

    I like that torque it to 74/52/49 or what ever he said foot pounds but using a impact that WAY over torques it. Using a torque wrench it clicks instantly but it is NOT at 74 foot pounds I bet it is 120 FP + using a air impact lol. I hope you don’t do that building a motor impact the rod caps or head bolts and then check to make sure they are AT LEAST 35/70 FT LMFAO better use ARP studs and hope they don’t break also hope you don’t do that with old race and bearing style wheel bearings. Bad info IMO telling people what to torque at but going way beyond the torque specs with a impact.
