This is old school switching at is finest here! The whole crew was in sync. Reminds me of my days doing these things without a care in the world. No one watching, no one giving us problems. Just getting the job done and not getting hurt. I really miss those days.
I remember seeing the SP in Santa Fe Springs Ca. Lots of action like this in the 1970's and 1980's on the Santa Ana Industrial Lead. Seeing this RUclips video brings back lot memories of railroading from that time...very cool 😎
Hello. This is my most favorite Espee video on RUclips. I have an obscure model train channel and if possible I'd like to use very short clips of this video. Please let me know if it's possible.
Man look at that, No God Damn Graffiti. God what a world we are living in today. Still Miss The Espee. Cool Video, Thanks.

And no cameras watching!
Accept people DID get hurt back then. Traumatic amputations and dudes coupling themselves up were a lot more common then than it is today.
That’s how you switch an industry. They made it look easy. A real piece of artwork right there. Sashaying in and out...

Southern Pacific had a lot of branchlines in Los Angeles and the suburban areas as well as its hometown of San Francisco
old heads. getting off moving equipment, riding cars to a joint.standing on the draft gear or coupler head. damn that was railroading.
nice catch! Thanks for uploading
Man look at all the dust flying out of the flange ways. I'm suprised they didn't derail at that speed.
That branch is long gone now is the MTA orange line
finally, ive been waiting to see this video again thanks for sharing it.
Now everyone cry’s if the procedure isn’t followed.
I worked this line until it was sold to the MTA for a bus line
0:14 guy dismounted like a pro
Nice to see NO hard hats, blaze green safety vest etc.
I love how it always seems like SP was always going too fast on crappy track embedded in dirt and trash

Chandler Blvd, Burbank.
Did that second boxcar at the industry move on its own or was it pushed by the train?
They should have kept this branch line open.
old heads rule
Somehow I don't think shirts-optional railroading would be accepted today.
