John, you are INCREDIBLE! I cried along with you,, but I have the utmost respect for “you”. My daughter (NE alum) died at 45 with four children (16, 14, 12, 9). I can’t tell you how much my wife and I poured into our grandchildren to give them life experiences. You are making the right decision. You have your second grandchild coming and you will be as great of Grandpa as you were a coach. We will miss you, but God Bless you. GBR!

Coach you have been a great leader of young people. Thank you for all you have given and done for the University and the state of Nebraska. You will be missed. Thank You coach
John. How good are you with special teams? Thank you for 25 awesome years as coach. Enjoy your retirement as all of us know Dani will succeed and improve the program just as you did when you took over Terry.
This decision might be the one I am most thankful for from Coach. Coach Cook, deserves all the accolades, all the gratitudes, all the respect for the 25 yrs he has dedicated to the program, to the sport, to the society. So few realize their apex position and get out at the right time, and then the failures build resentment, steal the thankfulness, and tarnish the value, leaving the void so wide and deep that the challenges to recover are often too large to allow growth and success when the big challenges come that are outside the recovery, outside the change. By leaving at the apex, the best can be selected to pick up the banner, the best can be on the front of the new wave from the new crew. Lots of great have come from this already. Dani is the ultimate 'next up' coach for a program that can be great only if led by greatness. That window was getting smaller, and what that would alter if not for her being the next up is major. The Dynasty gets its Queen. The amount of talent and team unity that Dani has to work with to get off the ground on the program's new journey is at its apex. Every aspect of society, the culture, the program, the sport, and the team is in the perfect position to handle this transition with great success. So, while I am thankful for many things over the 25 yrs, I am most thankful to you, Coach, for having the wisdom, the vision, the understanding of those around you, to know this is the best time to make this transition and for it to have the greatest chance of success. Thank You!
Thank you for keeping Kelly and Jaylen thats huge for the team there good people good teachers and role models they needed to stay so thank you for keeping them on !!
No no no no NOOOOO! This is Tom Osborne retiring all over again. I hope we make much better hiring decisions in volleyball than we did in football. God Speed John, you will be missed!
Something smell fishy about this whole thing. John is a great coach who just signed a 5 year extension and is going to walk away from 3.2 million to coach VB?
Unlike Solich, Dani has proven herself as a head coach. She will be fine. Will it be the same? Probably not, but Husker VB will be relevant for years to come.

Coach Cook, you are an inspiration to all young coaches out there hoping to emulate the legacy that you have built.
Yes, DBK!
The only replacement that softens this blow.

I’ve always been curious about crypto trading, but the unpredictable prices leave me unsure, despite watching so many tutorials on RUclips.
bye bye we need a coach who can win big games in a new era of volleyball
This reminds me of when Tom Brady retired
Something else is going on
John cook has another 10 years left in him
He’s 69yrs old. Let the man enjoy his family and his horses!! Jeez…
Look what happened after Tom left
