For those of us not sponsored by Mathews, GAS strings are habds down the best Ive tried. My Zebra strings died an early death up here in the PNW but the GAS Ghost XV's on my V3X 33 are holding strong many arrows past where the Zebras died.
Came here to look for a fan boy who would say this… I’ve been through 3 sets of gas for my v3-31 and trx 36 and have had nothing but issues with them.. peep twist and stretching…. GAS is more mass produced then any other company and there quality has fallen significantly…. Plus gas and zebra use the same BCY materials in their strings… the logo doesn’t make the BCY 452x that has uses any better then the BCY 452x that zebra uses… 😂😂😂
I have a granite V3X. I just put on gas strings in flo orange wt gun metal servings and they are awesome. Better then the threadz custom strings I have on my bowtech revolt.
I have the original zebras on my v3 27. 75lbs, 27” draw. 500 arrows a week roughly yearly, then both turkey and deer season. Just needing to replace them now. Take care of your stuff and you won’t have issues
Hope to learn how to replace strings and cables some day…tie in the peep…position and install D-loop…install arrow rest(s)…double check timing etc. etc. etc. Thanks Chris. I actually met you last year at Vegas.
Really like your videos, Katlyns too! Its great to see you younguns doing what your doing. Get these kids off their butts! It seems like yesterday when I was your age. Its getting so hard to hang a stand, drag Deer, and all the physical work that goes with it, but i will till the day I die!. enjoy your youth, its a fleeting gift that waits for nobody!..God Bless, Be safe!
well just went and bought myself a phase 4 and with all the Mathews attachments now I need to fletch some arrows and get out and shoot it, part of the reason i decided to go with a Mathews bow was from watching all your videos, also love that everything connect into the riser, cant wait to get it out and get a deer with it
good to get the bow tuned up now. waited a little to long one year and ended up with a pink peep sight. I nicknamed my bow "Pink Eye". she got the job done lol wont make that mistake again haha
Question when changing bow string or cables don’t you have to turn down the limb bolts down lowering the poundage on the bow limbs so when you use the bow vise it won’t damage the limbs I didn’t see you do that the factory recommend lower the poundage on the bow before changing any bow string and cable
If im buying custom strings definitely ain't gonna be zebras i run gas on everything cant beat em for price and quality i had to switch my factory mathews strings after not even 200 shots on both my v3 and phase4 from serving separating on the cables right where the module touches
I run Gas Ghost xv on my v3x as well....I'm pretty sure Chris puts Zebra because they are in a contract with Mathews and he is obviously sponsored by Mathews...if he wasn't, he probably wouldn't run Zebra...that's my guess anyway
I have custom strings as I have less strands then most aftermarket strings as I do not need 80lb rated strings n cables. I picked up over 10fps with less strands n shorter serving for d-loop
Great video Chris, so timely. Just ordered my bow press and looking to replace my phase 4 zebra strings/cables. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your videos!. Hope to meet you at a TAC one day sir. Edit to say I ordered from Lancaster, the EZ green on sale now for 382,50 :) !
Have you ever used or know people that use the ratchet strap bow press? I’m stationed in Spain and there isn’t a pro shop near by to work on a compound bow but my strings are needing to be swapped out.
I just set up my first Mathew’s, I was shooting mission since I was 12 and got a V3x, love it and Chris inspired me. So stoked Seek one went team mathews also
Good video. I had no idea it was actually that simple to change your strings . Good info for future reference if I ever get around a compound bow myself . I’m more used to recurves and a long which happens to be 100 pounds at 32 inch draw . Anyway . Cool video man cheers 🥃
Hey Chris, I’ve made the decision to start working on my bow and I’ve noticed you’re running the same mods as I am on my Mathews v3x. My question is why you run 70 pound modules while your actual pull is above that? Where as my bow is set up currently with 70 lb modules and actual pull is 67lbs. Do they have a gray area or should I twist the control cable up to get dead 70 pounds or very close to it
How do you feel about zebra strings? It seems to be one thing that people negatively point out when reviewing Mathews, but after years and years of shooting Mathews bows I've never had any issues? Just curious!
You made a comment when you were checking the nock fit that colored or fluorescent strings have more material….can you elaborate on that? Is that a case for more natural colored strings?
Really depends on what you had before hand... Different materials react differently Different materials have different weights and diameters. And then to wrap it all up, your new set may not be the same lengths. For instance my factory set of Pse strings (because they anti clockwise twist strands which are made in a clock wise direction...) had elongated my Citations ATA by ½ inch. So in a way there's a good chance it will
Hey Chris if you see this or if anyone else knows, I got a question. If I was to get a phase 4 33" and I have a 26.5" draw would I be able to order a set of strings that were a half inch shorter and use the 27" mods? I want a 33" for 3D and target
@calvinsweightlossplan7000 I have the 29 already but I would prefer the 33. I came from a 31" ata pse.I like the longer ata bows, more forgiveness when it comes to tourqeing the bow
Chris. I like your videos. However as a dedicated mathews guy. Watching you say you hate there hats and toss them across your shop in a past video I was kinda shocked as I know you have been with them for years
hey Chris bee can do a bow to me Joseph Andron please i need a new bow and my dad is not doing so good at the moment he just had heart surgery does not have a job at the moment. please Chris bee please read is you will make my day.

glad you like those. but there's better. a3 archery bloodline fiber strings. no waxing, weather proof, zero stretch zero break in period

Chris is the absolute GOAT!!!
Chris bee im 11 yrs old and you are the reason i love archery❤
Chris I can’t thank you enough for your videos homie, one of the most informative channels out there!
good to get the bow tuned up now. waited a little to long one year and ended up with a pink peep sight. I nicknamed my bow "Pink Eye". she got the job done lol wont make that mistake again haha
Fishing line does a fantastic job cleaning bright colored strings.
Love these tech /bow build videos
I put gas strings on my V3X 29 and it shoots great and stays in time.

Good to see the 100lb legend is still alive. That was a classic video.
Just bought a uv3xl and I gotta say it is amazing
Just curious, is checking brace height not important when getting bow back into spec once new strings are installed?
I knew it was important. Just asking for some of the other people that may not have known otherwise.
If im buying custom strings definitely ain't gonna be zebras i run gas on everything cant beat em for price and quality i had to switch my factory mathews strings after not even 200 shots on both my v3 and phase4 from serving separating on the cables right where the module touches
I switched to gas pretty quick too. My son , though, with same bow(v3x29) has at least 10,000 shots on his and still great( look and shoot anyway)
My thoughts exactly… garbage..
I run Gas Ghost xv on my v3x as well....I'm pretty sure Chris puts Zebra because they are in a contract with Mathews and he is obviously sponsored by Mathews...if he wasn't, he probably wouldn't run Zebra...that's my guess anyway
Zebra are the worst strings ever.
The one way to check the cams are in time is to use a sharpie mark on the cams to see if the cams are in time or out of time 👍
I have custom strings as I have less strands then most aftermarket strings as I do not need 80lb rated strings n cables. I picked up over 10fps with less strands n shorter serving for d-loop
Awesome video Chris 🐝 nice work brother!!!
I know you usually don’t answer comments but what spine stiffness arrow would suggest for a 60lb bow for hunting
350 spine
Most likely 400, I am using 350 Victory VAP TKO at 75lbs 28” draw
Wouldn't the dot you made for center of arrow be the bottom of the arrow? Not center?
Awesome video, when’s a Chris cape or field dress coming out?

I’ve shot a bunch of bows and the v3x 29 is king. Not cheap but an awesome bow
I should have gotten a 29, I have a 33 and might change next season
@@ashtonsperry4029 I’m a 28” draw so it was easy for me. The 33 feels heavier. My 6’3 friend loves his 33
@@Range-Xas a tall person.. longer bow does feel better. Anything under 32 the string angle is too steep with my draw length
I have a 29.5” draw so I had to get a 33”. But I love it

What bow press do you use
Nice build Chris. That thing is going to be shooting tacs, but as the saying goes...it's all in the archer first.
Wow…seems to be a lot more to changing strings and cables on the new Mathews. Hoping this video will help me justify a LCA press to my wife!! 😂
Always enjoy videos like this
Maybe someone can help me… could you put any stabilizer on your bow ? What is a good stabilizer?
Heyall, are the modern strings still need to be waxed ?
Awesome thanks 🙏🏽

hey guys i need help, do y’all know what limb legs work on the phase 4? is it the regular one or the slim mathew’s leg
Nothing beats vaportrail strings

Cool video.. neat to see what goes into it all thanks for the insight

There is more dye in the strings for the bright colors. A black or “natural” white color has less dye.
@@ChrisBeeReal woah okay good to know.
I wonder what the price is for the strings. It appears you have to call them for a price.
Love the videos Chris
Good job Chris and super video tutorial… you are the best bro👍🏻🏹🤙🏻🍾💪🏻
Could someone please tell me what Peep sight that is that Chris is using ?
Hamskea raptor

Do you like the zebra or match for the lift?
Do you have to resight in your slider when you change strings ?

that mathews shirt is dope
What stabilizer brand is that?
Thanks for the information
Shouldn’t the bottom mark be the bottom of the arrow? Not the center
I like your wall.
thanks
Another Mathews with flo yellow strings?! Jk, everyone uses them for a reason including myself. Love my v3x 29
You make it look easy
Can you do the same thing without a bow press and make a video? I'm to cheap to buy a press and I don't trust the bow shops around here
Does Lancaster sell pocket knife sharpeners? Thinking u need one lol
Vapor trails the only string I'll run
I’ll stick with my elites everything comes in one package your string and one cable
Thank you great video
Do you get most of your stuff for free or do you have to pay for it
He gets it for free
Well technically, neither. They pay him to use their stuff.
Lancaster archery doesn’t post to Europe from the USA 😢
nice one learned a lot again ....
Great video. Thank you.
Man I had to replace my zebras. Bought gas and never turned back. Aka didn’t have to retune my bow
Hey Chris if you see this or if anyone else knows, I got a question. If I was to get a phase 4 33" and I have a 26.5" draw would I be able to order a set of strings that were a half inch shorter and use the 27" mods? I want a 33" for 3D and target
You can from other string companies, but you’d have to call them directly
If you have a 26.5” draw you should run the 29
@calvinsweightlossplan7000 I have the 29 already but I would prefer the 33. I came from a 31" ata pse.I like the longer ata bows, more forgiveness when it comes to tourqeing the bow
