I'm so happy that the amount of money miami spent to bring those 2 in there sitting at home, granite so is FC Cincinnati. I honestly think the big reason they played like they did was possibly the news of Marco Angulo who sadly passed away from a car accident so that could be a contributing factor.
MLS is a breath of fresh air to watch most teams are full of energy and because the quality is not quite there, the players that do have more about them really shine, European football has become too stale, too much about money, teams just cancelling each other out no one dare gamble anymore, I’m from the uk and have never paid any subscription to watch football but I paid for the mls pass and it was worth it.😂
MLS as a league still hasn't figured everything out, and that's part of what makes them fun. From 2008 into the 2010s they signed Beckham and a slough of big names at the end of their careers. Then for 5-6 seasons MLS decided they're a development and "sell-on" league all about their academies, while revenue primarily came through expansion fees. Now they're back to signing just-past-their-sell-by-date names, but augmenting them with some well-scouted South and Central American players. Salary budget limitations and a single-entity structure mean that not only is Messi's salary partially paid by the clubs he's playing against, but also that at any given moment he's sharing the pitch with teammates making five-figure salaries.
@@ZacDynasty well for the last 2 years I’ve been rooting for Austin fc because I really like what they’ve created there, the logo the stadium, kits and the fanbase but it’s been a tough season, in terms of who’s left in the playoffs I’d probably say I’m rooting for la galaxy but I’ll be back to Austin when the season starts again.
Miami did it to themselves. I hope Messi's teammates apologized to him for just refusing to play when the referee wouldn't be suckered in by Avilés' clear attempt to stop play. It was kind of a crappy end to a season, making a poor attempt at gamesmanship (although it was amusing to watch Avilés alternate between holding his face and raising his head to look for the ref).
You people got exactly what you deserve giving messy all the credit for MLS success and not respecting the rest of the league in the players that we have that we homegrown here it's so embarrassing that y'all thought Messi was going to win everything and now he has nothing to show for it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I really didn't see Inter Miami playing that well. It is true that they set a record of points during the season, but they didn't really look like a powerful team who overpowered easily its rivals. I like the prospects of an El Trafico match between the two LA teams, and of a match between an LA team and a New York one in the final.
most of their attacking force at guys that are over 35. They were never winning the cup with the age profile this team had.....they just dont have the legs
Nope. This was always bound to happen when you put all your money into offense and nothing i your defense also most of these players to make IM an offensive juggernaut are all 35 and over.
ATL vs MIA was dependent on the keepers, one stepped up and the other didn't. look at the shots & shots on target that they had, MIA had almost triple and yet Guzan stepped up big time. Calling MIA a bad team is a horrible take because any team outside of ATL would have been easily beaten by MIA, they just so happen to run into the team that they couldn't beat during the season.
Atlanta always have Inter in their pocket. That first game where that numb nuts headered the ball into his own goal to allow for a Inter comeback shouldve never happened. They are always better.
There are 29 teams in MLS. Lionel Messi's salary is higher than 22 of those team's entire rosters. Miami's total spend is 50% higher than the next highest team and 4 times what the lowest team spends. In order to get Messi in MLS, Miami had to give him part ownership of the team, Apple pays part of his salary, and Adidas pays part of his salary. So, yeah... if he doesn't deliver a REAL trophy (no, Leagues Cup and Supporters Shield aren't real trophies), then he failed.
Oh boy, some aka true MLS fans will come and say otherwise to you 🤣 They are happy in knocking out someone who gave them their biggest world limelight that MLS could ever have in their history, someone who broke so many records in just some games which missing half the season, someone who gave them the most money they could ever make
I canceled my Apple TV, I only watch Messi, anyway their defense is pretty terrible and a goalie who doesn’t know how to play with his feet, and every player with their hands up and not play the whistle 😂 these are professional players acting 🎭 like bunch of spoiled girls
This is why Messi is ruining the league. He brings fans like you who are Messi fans but you couldn't care less about the league. Once Messi leaves, you will leave, too. Meanwhile, MLS is pushing out all of its old fans by making the league pay-per-view. They are putting short-term profits ahead of the long-term success of the league. When Messi leaves and all the fans like you go with him, this league will have fewer fans than before Messi came.
Undoubtedly IM underperformed and need fixing. On other side three of the best mls teams Inter Miami, Columbus and Cincinati left on the first round. So you think mls cup doesnt need fixing? I bet when the mls cub final comes it will has less viewers than Columbus vs IM game.
@@Salsa_Shark It is an upset... but it's not uncommon. This league is built for parity. It's why Supporter Shield winners almost never win MLS Cup. But, you're right, it's still an upset. I think it just shocks people like Twellman more than it should because he was ready to crown Messi the king of MLS two years ago.
Please don't come back. This league was fantastic before Messi. His presence in this league is ruining it. The sooner fans like you stop watching, the better for this league.
@@nochepatada I'm with you there. I only get to watch MLS through RUclips highlights now. It's hard to stay engaged with a team or a league through RUclips highlights alone. I'm losing touch with my team. I just don't have the same emotional connection with the newer players.
Nah, American sports should stay American. In the last 13 years the MLS has had 10 different champions, and it's this type of format, as well as spending limits, that has allowed this. Teams don't just have to show how good they are in the regular season, they have to prove themselves in the playoffs, where teams are frothing out the mouth ready to fight as hard as possible cause they have nothing left to lose anymore and everything to gain. Which results in amazing upsets, which makes it more fun. Miami has had defense issues all damn season, they have had plenty of time to correct this, but didn't, and it's come back to bite them in the ass in an embarrassing fashion, and that is awesome.
Do you mean they should have a single table with a balanced schedule and the team with the most points at the end of the season wins? That can't work in MLS that has teams in the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. and Canada are MASSIVE in size. California alone is 1.7 times the size of the entire UK. The U.S. and Canada are EACH almost the size of all of Europe (The U.S. is 5% smaller and Canada is 2% smaller). So, there are a lot of travel issues to deal with. More importantly, there are 29 teams in MLS (there are more coming next year). To go to a balanced schedule, they would have to play 56 games per season. By contrast, other leagues play 34-38 games per season. No players would play in MLS if they went to 56 games... certainly not Messi.
The elimination was karma for Campana's push and Saurez being a docuhe as he usually is.

Is no one going to talk about the player randomly lying on the ground and pretending to be hurt???
No, it was a no contact situation and not a single teammate ran over to check on him. Clearly it was an attempt to stop play for no reason
