Chris, who do you think condor copied? These jackets are mission or environment specific. I have the gen 1 and it works great for hiking in snowy or rainy conditions. I've used it in 0-15° weather at 10,000+ft in elevation and have never had a problem with it. Snow and rain shedding and guaranteed to keep you dry. Yes the price tag throws people off, but like I said it's a specific piece of kit. Go with condor if you're just going out to the grocery store or around town.
The Condor Summit is derived from the TAD Gear Stealth Hoodie. The Condor is about 60% what the TAD Gear is - however the Condor only is available with patches. The Arcteryx Alpha seen in this video is in a completely different category as it is waterproof and a goretex hard shell. As you know, there is not a better jacket on the market if you find yourself trapped in a torrential downpour in the woods - however the price is certainly steep. What I would say to someone in the market is go with the TAD Gear Stealth no patch if you are looking for a everyday jacket, Arcteryx Alpha if you are fighting or out in the rain for hours, TAD Gear Stealth LT for a compromise between the two, or Condor if you are really tight on funds and want a decent jacket or perhaps to look cool for airsoft. In short, yeah the price is steep on the Alpha, however you won't find anything else truly comparable on the market.
@@lenfantterrible3433 : LOL! "If you find yourself trapped in a torrential downpour in the woods..". Lovely. For, $700+ USD, I can survive in a place I should have never been in the first place, unless I was a dedicated outdoors person with a vested interest in putting myself and my gear through hell on earth. Yeah. I'll take the Comdor Summit Jacket for $124, Alex! Oh, and the Comdor does not come with Epic Motivational Music either. So, I guess I'll have to pony-up for the $1.99 digital download. But, hey - its just money, right. LOL! You made my day. Nothing personal. :)
It does have a high price tag. Arcteryx has never made a product based on price to sacrifice quality. For one it's made in Canada (higher wages), you can't have an averages sewer make this garment due to the nature of gore. Plus they will fix it if you tear it and or damage it for the life of the garment. We went to the Arc factory last year and saw the production line. They make machines to make the garments. No other company does this. This is they type of item you will not have to replace in your kit. Let us know if you want to chat about it give Robbie a call 1 866 916 6905.
Why did they remove the storm flap over the main zipper? I can't take a jacket that claims to be completely waterproof seriously without a storm flap. Zippers will literally ALWAYS wet out eventually.
The best Goretex pro jacket on Earth. So awesome!

Such awesome looking and working products, but for the the price, man, they price themselves right out of the price range for the normal civilian.
