There are a million videos on this watch but only a handful review it from years of experience. I appreciate your return to the F91W. This watch is a long distance champion really.
Not often mentioned, but these watches are a huge hit amongst Police and the NHS. The reason? Apart from being absurdly cheap and easy to replace, they have the ability to be easily cleaned. There aren't too many recesses that are difficult to get into. Stick it under a tap and scrub it clean, no problem. Slides nicely under nitrile/sterile gloves without snagging. Not a target for thieves. As you say, beautifully utilitarian!
@@jonnycapes I work the NHS too and I wear my F91W for work. We're supposed to be 'bare below the elbow' but I've argued that wearing a watch is more hygienic in my role than digging into my pocket every time I need to note down the time on paperwork. I don't wear a fob for safety reasons. An aggressive patient could grab it and restrain me. My managers agree with my reasons and allow me to wear my wristwatch. On a few occasions I've left the house forgetting to put my watch on and I feel naked for the rest of the day. It's crazy how attached I've become to it.
Good points, well made! I will remove mine if i'm going to be doing something where it would be a hygiene risk but wear it at all other times because, as you say, i have to write down time information many many times during the day. Great watch for us NHS workers, and so cheap i don't worry about damaging it & very easy to clean too.
I couldn't agree more. I have had mine for only a few weeks and have 9 more in the mail. I went from a person who switched watches sometimes even twice a day to wearing my f91w 24 hours a day. I took it off the other morning and kicked around the idea of wearing a duro. I simply picked it up and felt the overwhelming feeling that i was making a mistake and continued off to work with my f91w. It is so light and comfortable with just the right features. @@tennbones seriously. I'm currently wearing an Invicta because I'm glueing down the strap keeper and the others haven't arrived yet. It feels clunky and huge. I definitely can't wait for the glue to dry
Really nice, personal and warm review. Much enjoyed it. Reassuring to hear the hard wear you put it through, and how well it withstood the rigors. This particular colorway has that something special and elevated about it too. Thanks for sharing!
When I went back to wearing a watch (after 30 years of not wearing one), I got one of these as a "test" to see how actually having something on my wrist felt. And you're right - they're absolutely perfect as a no-frills, reliable watch with a couple of handy extra functions (e.g. alarm). I've since moved onto a smartwatch, but keep the Casio for when I'm playing sport or doing anything rough. So far, it's still working!
That's great you’re back into wearing a watch 🙂 I wore my Apple watch for a couple of years and enjoyed some of its features, but I really don't find any of the extra smart watch features essential, plus they're relatively expensive, I have to worry about damaging it as a result, and you have to charge the ruddy thing every single night - pain in the arse tbh! Lol So, yeah, on reflection I am much happier strapping one of these on and not worrying about a thing with it. I agree about sports or rough stuff - anytime I have a more “posh” watch on it soon comes off if I’m doing anything rough or dirty - I default to a cheap Casio every time 👍👍
Great review. The analog “field” version size and comfort wise is MQ 71, it’s even smaller than f 91. All in all these little Casios are charming and have soul unlike many other more expensive watches.
I surf in the f91w, slips right under the wetsuit cuff, doesn’t weigh down the arm when paddling. Gave one to my toddler and it’s survived preschool as well.
That’s great to hear. I LOVE the slimness of the f91w - fits so easily under those blue nitrile gloves I have to wear in my healthcare job, & yea, perfect for a wetsuit! Ive swum with f91s soooo many times and never ever had one fail from being in the water! My boy has one too and, as you say, it’s survived everything! 👍
Back in the eighties and early nineties I had a F-87W, a predecessor of this watch. Absolutely loved it. Just like you said, so tough and comfortable to wear
F-91W is a classic. Back in the day my father used to wear one and always said how handy it was for athletism. I have followed in his footsteps and now use a Casio as well. I recently bought a W-217H and have to say that it is a worthy succesor to the F-91W.
I don’t have a w217h but I’ve just had a look and see there’s like an olive drab colour one now available - I’m definitely going to grab me one of those! 😃
THE F 91 IS ONE OF THE NUMBER ONE WATCH ON THE MARKET THAT WATCH MAKE HISTORY AROUND THE WORLD GREAT COLLECTION WATCH I LIKE IT AND I LOVE IT AWESOME VIDEO
I've put the module from an A700 in my F-91. All it needs to function properly, is to slightly stretch the contact spring so the beeps work, and a slim piece of neoprene rubber between the module and the case back, to keep it from moving about. This also adds an extra bit of shock protection.
That’s great! Someone else told me they’ve done that too - I’m going to try it! Although i do like the a700 very much too… - I have 3 of them so might donate one to trying this mod! 👍
I Agree 110%. It's just the perfect watch for me. Since I started wearing it I even find larger Casios too ridiculous... Maximum comfort and no thrills!
Totally agree - I really REALLY hate big watches & think they look flippin ridiculous & at the same time are not as comfortable. Trends change don’t they, but I much prefer less bulky watches.
I have a few watches now but find myself going back to the f-91w as my most worn watch I have two the original and the grey,I want the green bezel version and the new minimalist black one,I think 🤔 I'll do some moding and that means getting a few more of them to play with.
I'm currently a proud owner of one of the most controversy Casio's watches ever. The Casio A1000D-7EF, which is basically the F91W fully stainless steel but I use it only for special occasions and parties, for work sometimes when it implies to only be coding or at the office. But I want to buy the F91W cause I want to stop using my Apple Watch every time I go for a walk or a workout. Cause the simplicity that offers the F91W is just stunning and as you mentioned, in case it happens something to it, you just simply replace it. Kind regards from Mexico!
I also have an A1000 - very nice watch! I also have an Apple Watch - it has its uses but I haven’t worn it for about 2 years - I prefer the character and charm of my Casios and other watches. I just love that the f91w is cheap, accurate and so durable.
Cute the way you casually handle the Rolex, almost with disdain. Beautiful iconic watch too but I get the cheap Casio appeal. They don't 'own' you like expensive watches tend to do. Causing stress and worry about being damaged or stolen or simply stoping when not worn...
Thank you for the comments 👍 I do totally get the appeal of beautiful expensive watches, as a statement of achievement or success or whatever but honestly for day-to-day uses, for something to accurately tell me the time and to not worry if it gets scratched/broken/lost these cheap Casios just cannot be beaten imho 👍✌️😃
The only thing "wrong" with the F91 W is I can't even put it on, haha. I technically can if I hook it on the very last position, but it's still pinching me. However, the W217 fits just fine. In fact if the W217 were any smaller it wouldn't be comfortable, it's like weirdly perfect. It's the smallest possible watch for me.
I really like them but I've tried my partners W86 on which is bigger and that looks too small on my wrist so the F91W would be tiny. My daily is a 44mm diver though.
Yes they’re pretty small by current standards which I don’t mind whatsoever - mens wristwatches and military field watches used to be smaller than current trends and I always grew up with smaller watches 🤷♂️ so I’m kinda the opposite of you, and I think large watches look a bit weird! Lol
The watch isn't too small, it's your ego that's too big. I've just watched your videos and you're not a big guy. You just look average or slightly smaller and you have a small build. The watch you're wearing in the boot lace tying video looks too big for you. You have fallen into this 'big watch' fad and when you see an appropriately sized man's watch on a man's wrist it looks odd to you. The F91w would fit you perfectly. Stop roaming with sheep and deflate the ego.
I LOVE that it’s small and thin and light: those are all plus points as far as I’m concerned: it just does not get in the way. Different strokes for different folks though, I guess 👍
I’ve been using f91w watches for around 20-25 years and have never ever had one let in any water or moisture whatsoever after hundreds of occasions or swimming, showering, immersion in buckets of water, dishwashing, etc. etc.: they’re perfectly waterproof for everyday use in my experience 👍 Having said that, the DW5600 is a stone-cold classic (my favourite G-shock series) and it’s definitely got to be a contender in the ‘best watch ever’ rankings for sure! Glad you’re loving yours ✌️🙂

The fact it's small is a selling point to a lot of people though. My wrist is so big I can't wear an F91W, at least not on the factory strap. But just because it's too small for me personally doesn't mean it's not perfect for a lot of other people.
