Great videos always. In Edwin Salter's History of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, he mentions old Indian Will, who lived alongst the banks of the Swimming River near Eatontown and Red Bank. Was said to have shown some of his colonial neighbors these circular metals that shined bright yellow and white (silver). I recall reading, that he had liked the white ish colored metals more and freely gave the yellow (gold coins) to his friend, who was the namesake of the town, Eatontown. That family was able to convince Will to show them the location of the metals, and it is written they became mildly wealthy around that time. Also, in the 1870s, a home in Shrewsbury was undergoing repairs when a wall was destroyed, and gold coins fell out all over the place. The stories are in greater detail in Mr. Salters superb historical works on these counties. Local history is the best

Wow, Nicholas, thank you! That's some amazing history. I have to admit, I didn't research for this video much. I mainly did it for fun. But now I wish I had got into it in more depth. I'm going to check out Edwin Salter's History of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. I researched quite a few books when I was compiling information for the documentary and I'm surprised I never came across his. Thanks again!

Pretty cool. While I think the Kidd treasure is lore, I do firmly believe the farmers chased the pirates away!

Thanks Sean! Now you peeked my interest about this even more. I'm going to have to really look into whether there's truth to these tales or not.
