Reminds me of how I adjusted valves on my small blocks many years ago. Worked for me .

Having a noisy rocker and not addressing it, won’t result in a burned valve - the valve is closing just fine - what’s suffering is a loss in valve lift (performance), and the potential of the valve train to bind up or damage itself when the rocker loses contact with the pushrod and valve. Great video though, and this was how I was taught to adjust the valves, once you had a running engine and is a great thing to do, after initial break-in.

On that type of motor, the cam gear would wear, and I would set the timing by ear.

That is kind of how I do it too. I have a collection of deep sockets I put one on each rocker nut and if it squirts oil it hits the socket and runs down. But I like the cut valve cover trick too.

Chevy, right? Had a 69 chevelle, would do this just for learning experience when I was 16.

Yes, this is an old Chevy small block

What an awesome tip! Can you please tell me what size socket are you using? When I tried doing this the socket keeps getting stuck to the nut on the Rocker arm.

Were you using a metric socket?

@@BarryTsGarage I was using a 5/8 deep socket. Maybe not thin enough

Only works on hydraulic cam, not a solid lifter cam!!!

*_This still is not the correct way to do this. I just posted a video a few days ago on my channel how this is supposed to be done._*
