- Another great trip on Freightliner’s Class 47 during July 2023. Kindly donated by our regular Freightliner contributor Vinny (with full permission), this follows the refresher run for the Leaf Fall circuit.
Great trip, just read RAIL and seen your nomination in the National Rail Awards - Good luck!
Much appreciated Kevin.
Much envy from me ! In a class 47 of all engines as well .. mostly gone but not forgotten. Brings back happy memories from my days at Stratford 30A in the 70's. thks
Glad it took you back Brian!
I must say I prefer your videos with the extra information. For me they are much more informative.
Yes, these are just to help me out until I’ve finished the next one. They are a stocking filler for you.
love to listen to the turbos whistle as the power comes on even if the cabin is shaking its self to pieces !!1
Yes, they have a unique sound for sure Paul.
Another great video Don, and thanks to Vinny for recording it
Yes, he’s a star Martyn. Glad you liked it.
Thanks again to you and RCP, another great upload 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Once again Don,thanks.
Thanks Harry, it’s one that Vinny has provided.
Lovely to hear the aws bell on the 47 instead of the ping.
Nostalgic isn’t it!!!
Another good watch thank you Don, although I did miss the additional information that you provide.
Yes, it’s a common comment but rest assured, that was just a fill in while more of the traditional videos are being edited.
I noticed on the approach to stoke station the buffer stop with Extra wheel chocks behind it to prevent anything rolling over into the road , I remember many years ago a class 25 hanging over the edge of the wall .
Yes, thankfully such events are rare. A run on a 25 would be nice wouldn’t it!
Excellent trip!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video my friends awesome 👍🏻 Greeting 👋🏻 from Argentina suscribete 😊
Thank you Marcel. Much appreciated.
The old white-on-black station-name sign at Poynton station is a hell of a lot easier to read from a passing train than the modern black-on-white ones. Such is progress!
Haha, progress the ogress - spot on Mortimer.
I like this trip Don electrified line too .
Much appreciated William.
Audio went off 30 secs from the end! Otherwise a nice cab-ride. What was clattering on the return leg - sounded like a spoon rattling in a glass!? - - My preference is for the sub-titles, giving station and junction names.
She’s old and rattly but she’s been around the block a few times!!! The subtitled ones will be back I promise, this is a fill in “lite” version.
The Green Signal Bell in the cab was new to me. I would think that bell might get old instead of the electronic chime. Is that specific to this Loco or selectable by the driver?
No Jimmy, the 47 is knocking on a bit and thats how AWS bells used to be.
