- "Mridanga Highlights" is a new series that will feature random tidbits and instructions related to mridanga. It will encompass all different skill levels and is NOT intended to be followed in a progression.
If you want to learn mridanga from the beginning, please check out my "Mridanga Lessons" series.
Highlights 1: Learn to play the sliding "ghe" sound on the large side of the drum (also known as the "laghu vani" ghe). This style is used for complex rhythms and bhajans.
thankyou prabhu ji hare krishna 🙏🙏
Hare Krishna! Where are you? I've learned Mridanga from your videos.
You are a great teacher.
I'm not actually able to play anymore, but I love the sound of the mridanga.
Thank you so much for sharing.
this mridanga sound + imagining the singing Maha Mantra, makes my heart beat faster :-)
Hariiibol...
HK...Prabhu you are a master and this mridanga in your hand is a piece of art. This is tad smaller than what we get normally, and the leather looks smooth (maybe polished). Also the syahi (center black coat) looks brown and resistant to friction. If I do the sliding ghe on my mridanga the coat might just come off. Would be very grateful if you can guide us on how to get such a mridanga and or how to tweak our current mridanga to get such blissfull sound. Waiting in anticipation!
Great video! You had me making the sliding ghe sound in just a few minutes
Hare Krishna Prabhuji :) dandavats
Can you make video with this fast sliding two side Ghe mantra ?
Thank you for your great service ! Krishna bless you !
Hi
Hori bol
Thanks for your comment, Chirag. This video was meant to show you the bol (a single stroke) and not any particular taals (full rhythms). I plan to post other videos in the future to demonstrate complete taals with the sliding ghe bol.
Haribol, prabhu can you teach us those 2 slide mantras.
@ravijdel This drum happens to be of excellent quality; that is why it is so resonant.
abhijitb1 hair bolt

hare krsna prabhu, thank you very much for helping us to learn mridanga. I have one suggestion or comment. If you play the mridanga with some example of kirtan then we can understand better how to play such Taal in kirtan.. Hope to see you soon with such examples.. Thank you.. Ys Chirag

I think this is a good question. I am also interested.
Haribol prabhu! Could you please elaborate on laghu vani in soon upcoming videos? Also, how did you play the khe when playing in laghu vani style?
Hello Mr. Abijith, you're an amazing guru..!
Can you extand the beat that you played on this video? The one that you played in the middle of this video...
What is the difference between a NAAL and a mridanga? Is the Naal simply a smaller mridanga?
I have a wooden naal.
prabhu! what's the mantra for the two tal beat? the one with the rolling slides
Prabhu, how do you make it so resonant? Does it become like that over time or is it made like that? Or can you do something to the Mridanga to make it more resonant?
Where can I buy one like that drum?

Please do not write on the left side of mridanga and please say in bengali medium.
