Multiple paint removal techniques, new paint wash techniques, new decoupage techniques, this gorgeous project reminds us that the song was right, “Life’s a dance, learn as you go.”
I’ve never seen a piece of furniture go through a weight loss program. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Man ‘ol man that heat gun trick was satisfying to watch. I think I heard the wood inspire deeply then breathe a sigh of relief once released from it’s cocoon of paint. And again as usual I’m yelling at the screen “NO DON’T DO A PAINT WASH”. Oh ok do that paint wash. “NO DECOUPAGE” Well, yes THAT is nice. “Ok you’re right, I’m wrong”. BEAUTIFUL!😮
Andy, I don’t know what I enjoy most about your furniture fables! Is it your flair for the dramatic in creating a humorous and highly entertaining storyline, your vision and creative talents that result in truly unique pieces, or your eclectic choices in the music that correspond so perfectly with your narrative? For me, it’s a tie, and it’s always a treat to see what you and your cast of zany characters are up to next!
You should have heard me screaming! Have you lost your mind! That was when you started sanding the decoupage. Now I have been humbled and have to say, "she made it work'. Well done. Thank you for opening my eyes to new things. Another excellent piece.
Absolutely beautiful! I have never seen someone sand off the decoupage paper to create that stamped effect. I love it! I love the wash you did and I’m always all about shiny knobs, handles and pulls. This is such a special piece and I really hope Drea told you how much she loves it. It’s the same but completely different!🌸
Yay, and thank you so much! So great to hear you liked that sanding of the fiber paper, and great to hear you liked those shined up pulls. And I think even SHE will like it! 😂🙏💙
She’s went from rags to riches….and looking truly gorgeous … I love the white wash technique and the decoupage paper was over the top… Another great performance 💕
I absolutely love that painting mixture I am a fusion girl myself and those two make a beautiful pair to wash away all that pine yellow!! Just beautiful. I like the sanded paper look. Absolutely perfect!!❤
Such beauty & class! Loved that decoupage technique on the drawers AND the paint wash! I think I heard the piece say, “Ahhh! Feels amazing to get out from under all those layers of paint! I can breathe again!” Congrats on another amazing outcome!
This turned out so lovely! I agree with every choice you made in this makeover. It was so satisfying to see the heat gun tackle that thick paint. I also love the dialoge that you and Drea always have. Call me entertained! Thanks a million.😀
You never cease to amaze and surprise me with your fables! They are educational, entertaining, relaxing, and funny. This one knocked it out of the park, and best of all, you did it for yourself! I so enjoy your videos they allow me to stretch my own creativity. Just love what you do!
Love everything about this beautiful dresser.....right up my design alley. The decoupage technique with this lovely paper is soft and sweet. And you and Drea are always a treat !!
The paint wash, the distressed decoupage paper, the patina on the hardware and the design of the chest all came together to make probably my favorite redo in a very long time. I flat out loved this. Makes me want to go out and find a pine chest of drawers. I enjoy your videos so much. They are so entertaining. Thank you for sharing.
I was on the fence if I liked the finish until you added the cream color on top, and that did it. IMO, that was just what the wash needed. Absolutely love the decoupage paper. Gorgeous.
Really cool how that heat gun works. It reminded me of my childhood when my older brother would ask to have the weathered sunburned skin peeled from his back. Veru satisfying as I tried to see how big of a piece at a time I could peel before it had to be started at another point.
I’m a big fan, and this project was fantastic. Reminds me of the bedside trunk that I have had for forty years, and finally addressed the unattractive maple orange finish this year. It needed a few small repairs; fortunately it was shellac which sanded off easily, leaving to my astonishment a very early 6-board trunk with iron nails and beautiful hand cut dovetails. I used a chalk paint (AS Country Grey) paint wash, then linseed oil followed by clear wax, then white wax. LOTS of polishing, but it feels the same but so much better, and I can really appreciate the construction. The paint wash keeps the maple very pale, which works well with my home. So satisfying!
Wow. Love the entire transformation. What an incredible idea with the paper. I never much cared for pine, but that wash is just what it needs. Simply beautiful.
Beautiful! I love how the accessories changes the color of the chest and therefore makes it a more versatile. Truly remarkable techniques that create such a one of a kind piece. Thanks! 🩵
Just perfect❣️ Great tutorial - using the heat gun, the paper sanded down to fuse with the wood! Really think your friend will be impressed with the care and TIME you took to keep the piece the same but better:) 🙏
That is just beautiful! Such great choices for sure! And YES! Worth all that stripping (of paint), sanding, color washing, decoupaging, more sanding…..just really lovely ❤
The paint wash is really nice, but the distressed paper on the drawers is the perfect finishing touch. And I'm glad you kept those handles; they are so pretty.
Oh Andy this new but the same chest is absolutely beautiful! I love the decoupage paper, it adds so much beauty! Wow, it's just gorgeous from top to bottom! Your work is awesome! 😊❤
I love everything you did to the piece. Love the paint colors. The weathered decoupage paper makes the piece and love the shiny original pulls. Simple and Elegant. 👍👍
When you started sanding the decoupage paper…😳 my first thought was, “what is she doing???” It all turned out beautiful! I loved the brightened hardware.
Oh Andy such a labour of ❤All that stripping and sanding 😜It turned out So Beautiful! And I’ve never seen anyone do that with decoupage paper 🤔❤❤ it ! Drea must be over the moon with this makeover 🥰
Oh Andy, look how beautiful she is. 😍 I was not sure about the paper at all, until you sanded it in. The wash dressed it, but the drawers raised the skirt, if you will. I look at this piece and it reminds me of Marilyn standing on the subway grate. 😊 Stunning 🥰😘
OMG, I love absolutely everything about this makeover!!! First of all, the heatgun trick is a life saver, I had a dresser a few months ago that had 3 layers of paint, and my heatgun worked magic to bubble that paint right off. I am now working on a buffet that I'm absolutely in love with but she has had locks removed, a couple corners that someone's puppy sampled at one time in her life and of course dings and scratches that will never come out 100% that I knew I was going to have to embrace and it was going to have to stay. I am so glad I watched this video before I started with the paint wash and finishing touches.. you gave me soooo many ideas!! I may use the paper technique if I don't like the way the drawers turn out. 💖💖💖
just perfect, wow, what a change. Love the wash and you gave me some pretty cool ideas with some decoupage paper and what to do with it. As always, thanks for sharing your videos.
I'm a Andy Fable person!!! You seriously are so fun to watch, not to mention, extremely talented in my opinion.. both theatrical and upcycle type of person? LOL, not sure if that made sense, but all I know is, you have a gift and I'm thrilled each time I'm notified that you have a new video :) Take care sweet Andy!
Absolutely beautiful! During the process, I wasn’t sure I would like the sanded paper, but when it was finished, I absolutely loved it. I also liked your choice to leave the hardware a little bit on the well loved side. By the way, my heat gun is named Dragon’s Breath.
This is such a beautiful little piece now! I am in love with that decoupage fiber paper! I actually have a small, handmade dresser (also pine) that I was gifted by a good friend 15 years or so ago, and it’s in need of a (another) makeover. I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to do to keep it somewhat simple, but the same - and this is it. Thank you for the inspiration, as well as the entertainment. 😊
You are my favorite! Yasss to the magnetic tray and heat gun 👏! Love the whole transformation and you have given me inspiration for a pine piece that I have from my grandmother 🥰
Wow!! Your Swedish dresser turned out Beautiful!! I love the drawer pulls. Loved all your techniques! Will definitely remember the ole heat gun- stripping furniture is No Picnic! Lol you did a fabulous job!!
I could hear "her" take an deep breath once all that paint came off. Lovely piece, lovely techniques!
I think I could too! Thanks so much! 😊💙🙏
Multiple paint removal techniques, new paint wash techniques, new decoupage techniques, this gorgeous project reminds us that the song was right, “Life’s a dance, learn as you go.”

😂😂😂 Omg, I LOVE that!! Yes, I too think I heard those sighs or relief! So glad you liked those choices in the end, thanks so much Chalma!!
Andy, I don’t know what I enjoy most about your furniture fables!
