Here is everything you need to know about Michael Jackson’s shoes.

The penny loafer history wasn’t really explained properly in the video. During the ivy prep league, users with the penny loafers would out pennies in the strap of the shoes as a means to afford a phone call to their parents or their friends. It would cost them a penny or 2 to make the phone call.
Michael wore Florsheim Como imperial tassel loafers on his Motown 25 performance.
He wore the same said tassel loafers on some performances on the Victory tour and also during the panther dance section of the Black or White music video.
Michael would even wear non loafer shoes in some cases. He’d wear Beatle boots in some cases or even lace up shoes show on the Triumph tour, HIStory Greatest Hit toe stand album cover and 2002’s performance of Dangerous.
Please don’t ask me stupid questions on where to get the shoes. I’ve already listed the brand and methods on how to get them.

It was a combination between the Florsheim Como / Como Imperial, GH Bass Weejun and Florsheim Berkely - it changed all the time!
I feel like i got the technique down for moonwalking, but i am having trouble with traction from shoes like converse etc.. Does a shoe like the "Florsheim Como imperial tassel loafer" help with that, or is it just pure personal preference?
Basically depends on the shoe sole. The Florsheim Como imperial tassel loafer is one of many shoes that MJ wore in his lifetime. Converse and other sneakers have rubber soles that are a bit chunk for moonwalking for my preference. I can do the move pretty well in those shoes but it all depends on the sole. As long as the sole is somewhat smooth and it's either rubber or leather then you're good to go. All depends on how you break into the shoes as well. @@HaydenHuynh Thanks for the response and help! I am dreaming about pulling the moonwalk off on a dance floor some time, but they usually have these sticky floors that converse shoes really stick to, so i think a loafer will get the job done!

Thanks for the video. I've always thought that I'd like to own a pair of the shoes Michael Jackson wore, but never knew the exact brand before now. So I just had a look at the price for a pair of Florsheim Como Imperial, and they are £300+. Yikes! I can't justify that. Maybe some day...
Happy to help! Yeah that's why I bought the Florsheim Riva at such a low price, just to try out the a Florsheim shoe. I"m broke at the moment but hopefully Como and Como Imperials are more affordable in the future!

So the sole needs to be replaced when I get the shoe? It has like the default leather and stuff but what do I need to get instead? Also the bottom heel is different from the sole, what do I do about that?
If you have a leather soled shoe then it’s fine. You really don’t need to change anything that major. Optionally, you can replace the heel with a leather surface on the heel as that is what MJ had done when he had the loafers.

Florsheim Berkeleys are the models that he had worn through the Dangerous World Tour… so I guess they are good? 😂 not too sure about the leather heels as I don’t have any on my shoes and I think that it might vary due to location.

Funny how I'm always finding Florsheim style loafters in charity shops and such but can never find and Penny Loafers lol. Most of them are actually brown, so I "dye" them with black shoe polish. Great to see Barker shoes and sometimes even Florsheims for under £10 in charity shops and in fantastic condition. Goes to a great cause too.
Yeah I looked at Barker shoes but I found that the sole wasn't that accurate nor the build quality was ok for the price but yes that's how I found my penny loafers - in a charity shop!

Not that I know of, haven't tried it!
the comos have a more stiff, durable leather but the imperials have a softer leather

And yeah, about 2 years ago I had those Aliexpress ones. "Slippy sole" it was advertised as. When they came the sole couldn't have been anymore restrictive. The side also busted open within a week and as you said, fell apart.
Odhrán if you take off the bottom the shoes become slippery on curtain surfaces
Better off buying quality shoes then going on Ali and getting a cheaper alternative; shoes are the one thing that I don't regret spending more money on if you're going to use it very frequently!

Is it better to put a smooth leather sole under the shoe or the other rough type of leather sole?
I just ask since I don't know, which one's better to dance
I didn’t know that a rough type of leather sole existed. I tend to get a smooth leather sole and then I let it age on it’s own. Usually even the most worn out leather sole - it’s quite smooth on some surfaces, depending on the dance move and how you execute it. I have leather soled shoes in which has been in puddles, scuffed on concrete, stepped in wet mud but still tending to be really slippery on wooden dance floor or polished concrete.
It also depends on the floor that you’re dancing with as well. If the dancing floor isn’t as good to start off with, it doesn’t really matter what shoe you’re using regardless of sole. And even if you have the best shoe that exists, if you can’t do the move properly as a fundamental; might as well not even have those shoes.

I just wasn't sure what type fits better for a Mj dance shoes because I was told to use a rough type of leather sole if I want to dance in a dance studio
But I don't really know if I could do the Moonwalk with it since the dance floor in the studio is made of wood
I wish i at least have 1 penny loafers because my current dancing shoes are crap
To make you feel better, it was only 3 years ago that I discovered that MJ used penny loafers, I thought it was just the Florsheims or just any black slip on shoe for that matter ;)

Michaels shoes had a leather heel. Florsheim are #1 no and ifs or buts. Bass Weejuns he used here and there during the Dangerous tour. But almost always Florsheims. He removed the metal clasp during the HIStory Tour

So I got the shoes and they came with a leather sole but the heel is rubber where could I get it to get leather on it instead of rubber on the heal

Another thing do u prefer G H bass penny loafers which he wore on the dangerous tour or florsheim coma which he wore on victory world tour, bad world tour and history world tour
Like I said in a title in the video at the end. I mention 3 brands. Sebago, GH Bass Weejuns and Florshiems.
I prefer the penny loafers as it's more versatile. I find that the Florshiems are way too stuffy in terms of style and that you can only wear it with long pants.

He’s probably wearing the Como model as opposed to the Como imperial model. He wore different types of the shoe during his performances.

i would like to inform you that the shoes MJ wore were defintiley Penny loafers however it did not the same sole you have shown here.. it had leather sole which makes easy to slide and glide... its difficult to slide and glide with rubber shoes or those sole which has lines or designs as this will offer more resistance while sliding and gliding..

Thanks for that. I find the Celebrity Clothing is a lot of money for what it is however where I can find cheaper alternatives. I’ve also heard that some of them are hit or miss. I’m tending at the moment not really buying any more MJ outfits anymore as I’m less making dance videos and performances

Is loafers good for moonwalk ?
Well loafers are the number one choice that Michael had used when dancing and that was the only shoe that he had used throughout his life that was consistent. Loafers with a smooth leather sole is preferred for moonwalking , 2nd preferred is smoothened rubber for the sole.

Unfortunately, in ali express there is a silver jacket from Mj co.Ltd, the delivery charge was very high to pay, but after i ordered the shoe and the hat, the delivery charge of the silver jacket fell from $129.54 to $37.8, which was a drastic decrease of the shipping charge. This is what made me very sad
