      Every replay reveals something new and exquisite... don't even start on his Winterreiser...It's beyond captivating... as well as the extraordinary beauty of his voice he manages to make a complete change of character for each role. I love his earlier Christmas song - Helgdagsvall i timmerkojan... so comforting... thank God for Peter Mattei, that's the bottom line - GIFT!

    I have just been to Baltic Sea Festival at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm on Aug 31 2019 from faraway Japan, only to listen to him singing this same pieces, and surely the luster in his voice is not the same as it was in 1999 but the beauty, the expression, his deepest emotion, everything touched my heart that I am completely lost in joy and tears!!

      I fullt understand your feeling. He truly has the most beautiful voice. One of the very finest even though I haven't heard him sing lately. I too wish to see him perform someday!

    'Ich will Jesum selbst begraben' beautifully sung. In fact, never heard it better than this.

    Thank you so much for having shared this video. Love both Bach's music and Peter Mattei's voice (definetely my favourite baritone)

      He's a standard trained classical baritone. Boring to be honest.

    • @catherinejones1055
      @catherinejones1055 5 лет назад +6

      What do you actually look for in a baritone if it’s not this? When did almost faultless singing and beauty of tone become boring to you? What can a singer do to make this glorious piece more interesting to you?

    • @yogajedi3337
      @yogajedi3337 5 лет назад

      @@catherinejones1055 Check his Frank Sinatra. It's completely uninteresting. It's dull as this piece. Even worse is the reading out off a text book. If you think "faultless" singing is great singing a tip is listen to a computer.

      @@yogajedi3337 Well, that didn't answer any of my questions. But I guess you didn't want to share the names of all those 'interesting' baritones you like listening to. And who criticises a classical singer for not being able to make Sinatra sound interesting? Of course it's dull, he could sing that stuff in his sleep, it's just a bit of frivolous fun.

    • @yogajedi3337
      @yogajedi3337 4 года назад

      @@catherinejones1055 Baritone is the most common male voice type. There are tons of more interesting baritones than a typical classical trained one like Peter Mattei. Peter is completely nothing compared with great singers through history. Frank Sinatra just is one of them. Here is an example how a random baritone sings O Sole Mio so interesting so you get +100 million views. It's impossible for a run of the mill singer like Peter to get such attention. ruclips.net/video/dDESzUuZuC0/видео.html

    hat es ganz schön eilig... Feld geh aus? sselbst? Komische Sitte stimmhafte Konsonanten stimmlos zu artikulieren.

    • @UkeLaila
      @UkeLaila 7 лет назад +6

      an einer einzigen Stelle ist das s stimmlos geraten, genauso mit dem Wort Welt ... daraus gleich eine Sitte zu erklären, halte ich für übertrieben. Sowas passiert halt einfach mal live...
