I think it's really cool that you cover derbies like this. Fredrikstad has been a big name in Norwegian football and has been greatly missed in recent years in the top divison. The clash against Sarpsborg is important for Norwegian fotball. Appreciate the work you do, greetings from a Vålerenga patriot.
Great video! Thank you for visiting our beautiful town. I'm glad you liked it here. I always enjoy watching RUclipsrs cover norwegian matches, and it's incredible to finally also see my beloved Fredrikstad FK getting some attention. Around 3:27, you mentioned tear gas. The police actually had to use tear gas against a group of people on the other side of the river as they marched towards the stadium. It was the same bunch dressed in black, who threw all the flares out on the pitch. That's why they blocked off the bridge for a while, so it wouldn't escalate and end up in a huge fight. According to a lot of Sarpsborg supporters, they've never even seen most of those people before. Apparently, it was just a group of people who came to the match just to cause trouble. The rumor was that they came all the way from Sweden, but I have no idea if that's true or not. Another derby this year that's worth checking out, is Vålerenga vs. Lyn in OBOS-Ligaen (tier 2). If I could recommend just one match this year (besides the Østfold derbies of course) it would definitely be this one. VIF and Lyn are both from Oslo, and it's without a doubt the biggest derby in Norway. This year, the two clubs meet again in league matches for the first time since 2009. Lyn were relegated the same year, and in 2010 they went bankrupt and had to start again on the 7'th tier. They were promoted to the second tier again last year, and Vålerenga were relegated from the top division.
Awesome video mate! No wonder you, and so many more, havent heard about this derby. Its been a long time coming. since before 2008, Sarpsborg didnt have any team competing in the top flight. Their original team Sarpsborg FK is the last one to have made an impact. S08 is an collaboration effort which has worked out. While after 2008 Fredrikstad FK has had massive issues on and off the pitch. Almost went bankrupt during the following years aswell. So the teams has managed to almost avoid eachother completely. The derby is more of a town rivalry more than a club rivalry. And it started all the way back in 1560 already. Football later became the way to let the rivalry unfold and when the boys in Fredrikstad declined Hugh Kenworthys request to join the team, he turned around and founded Sarpsborg FK. Reason as to why he was denied? He was from sarpsborg. There is alot of history between the teams and im so happy you managed to secure a ticket and watch the game. Well made video! Keep it up
Awesome comment mate, very interesting! Thanks for taking the time to post this 🙏 I had a great time in Fredrikstad, I’d like to visit again and do the game in Sarpsborg to compare the two - hopefully next season 🤞
I would love you to go to a SK Brann match, they have really good fans even on away games they always make much noise. Against every team home or away alway super loud. The passion for the club is amazing, they have pyro, flaggs, singing fans, tifos and much more. I would love that❤️
Found this video searching for FFK here and Im not kidding at 2:18 the very short clip of the blonde guy with White caps and ffk long sleeve, thats acctully me XD thats crazy 😁
Another match, or at least team and town to visit on the ever-increasing list! Brilliant stuff mate. Always great when the notification bell lets me know you've got another video out. Keep it up!
im from SO8 so i support them, my dad has been supporting them since born he has been at EVERY DERBY but this one, we were watching on TV and since the last one was 12 years ago he was super nervous. and we scored quick but ye he was NERVOUS ASF. and my dad and uncle takes picture for them, so i saw my uncle take pictures when the players walked out
Had a different experience last weekend at Fredrikstad with an evening kick off played in 27° heat. An early red card probably contributed to a goal less draw however my last game in Stabaek made up for the lack of goals there as they threw away a 4-0 lead after 60 minutes to lose 4-5!😮
This might be a surprice to you but i will give you some completely meaningless information. Fredrikstad needed a new stadium because the old one was run down. If was difficult to find an area, but then it turned out that the abandoned dry docks would fit a field. So the stands at the long sides are from the shipyard.
@@FootballWeekender I actually made a small mistake😅It’s actually called the Rogaland derby. But it’s a derby called vestlandderby too. But I thinked of the rogalandsderby
as a norwegian from fredrikstad, i can say that the reason its such a hype game, is sue to us having the inbred hating of sarpsborg. if we hear that someone is from there, we mostly say "oh, thats why you are like that" or something along the lines of that.
The battle of Østfold is HUGE and people who dont live here have no idea how much it means to us. Just listen to the Sarpsborg commentator from an earlier bout lol ruclips.net/video/KXlQwk4Qe-Q/видео.html
Hey, you should try to Get tickets for The Vålerenga-Lyn game(The biggest Derby in Norway). Although they are in The 2 divison this season, it is The game with The most rivalry. You should look up The game that was some weeks ago, on RUclips. In october they meet again.🔵
Fredrikstad is the Norwegian version of Leeds (actually the Norwegian branch of Leeds fanclub was founded there). Lots of spectators, and usually at second or third level in Norwegian football last 30 years. But now we are finally back. And we will destroy Sarpsborg !

Class video mate. Never heard of the derby til now
Cheers mate! Yeah, I only heard about this one after hearing it mentioned on a podcast😂 Well worth a visit
loved it, it used to be an shipyard and I worked there in my teenagers and we have been waiting for this moment al the way. brilliant.
Great video as always. Thanks for taking time to highlight these hidden gems. Great derby and passionate fans.
Got this recommended last night and I've watched it twice already. And I was at the stadium that day! Simply brilliant, keep it up💙🤍

Thanks mate! Another great trip - aiming to get back over again later in the year 🇳🇴
@@FootballWeekender you should see vif - Lyn because its Norways biggest derby but with the worst football
12:29 that “fy faen” got my rolling 😂😂

Another great visit, well done.
Another enjoyable video. Shame you didn’t have more time in that town, looked awesome 🤙
Lovely video. Hope you enjoyed visiting Norways most beautiful city😉

@Football Weekender you should go to Molde vs Rosenborg in norway this saturday
I can’t make it mate, but it’s a game I’d like to go to in the future! 🇳🇴
My town, this is good youtube video
Super video
Thanks again Alan 👍
Im a huge fredrikstad fan and i think this Derby is really cool one but you need to buy a fredrikstad kit❤
I invite you to come to the return match, september 29th
Come see Brondby IF on 26th of May, it could be a dramatic match, and a possible Danish title to Brondby!

Hi I’m new here, I have A question about if you Can go on Viking-Haugesund in Stavanger ? It would be cool😊
Hi mate 👋 I don’t know much about that match but it sounds cool! Are Viking & Haugesund big rivals?
@@FootballWeekender yeah i will say that. The cities are very close to each other. I hopes it maked sense☺️It is called the *Vestlandsderby*

why is the title Fredrikstad(a) when they’re the home team🤨
Because it was an away day for me!

7 pounds for a pint is pretty cheap tbh.
Yeah, to be fair, in Oslo most places were about £10 😵💫

The reason the beer was so expensive is because the Norwegian NOK is Very Very Very Weak right now👍
Check VIF-Lyn and Rosenborg-Molde
Remember that the Sarpsborgs fans used to support Fredrikstad.
Hate Fredrikstad
