This was a great story! I have a similar 'chill' relationship with my art teacher from grade 10. Although unlike your relationship with your boss, it was more parental? I'm 17 now and I'm not close with either of my parents, especially my dad and he just stuck out as a father figure. I think he even gave me pity marks that year in art (even though he claims I'm 'highly talented') which infuriated me and some other classmates around me. Although unlike your boss, he'd be over the moon to see me in a relationship because I have a very 'introverted, don't touch me' mindset about friends ESPECIALLY romance. My teacher was like that at my age and now he's happily married (she's our school drama teacher) and has 3 kids with her. It's an adorable marriage and even though I don't talk about my distaste for marriage much, he's told me on multiple accounts that with the right relationship and an understanding person, I could thrive. That I shouldn't be so closed minded. He has openly said he'd never pass student-teacher boundaries and I'm so GLAD he's not a creep.
