Just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your adventures. I am 87 years old and don't drive anymore so being able to ride along with you wherever y'all go is a real treat. Thank you Owen and Lynn.
Those roads reminded me of road to Devils Garden outside Escalante, Utah. Took a pic of speed limit sign…35!!! NOT!!!! 🤣 Thanks for sharing your adventure!!
Such a fun episode!! Watched with Freya in my lap...She looks at the TV and perks up when Maggie is on. When Owen said "Come on" to her, my puppy sat up and looked with "Where?!" on her face!! I also laughed when Lynn said "I do NOT feel comfortable". Very Funny. Thanks for a few minutes of warm weather and sunshine from cold, wet PA.
Don’t spit on me I!! Lol 😂 That was a rough road in Texas , just bouncing all the bones that you have . Looking through the eyes of drone was always great to see what it looks like there. Sure was dusty and hot 🥵 there .great music and great narrative n the journey . Thank you for taking the time to make this video and sharing your thoughtful insight of what the adventure you three just had. As always BS &BK
My late husband and I loved camping in a very isolated campspot in Big Bend Ranch State Park, and I loved seeing it again! Thank k you Lin for putting up with it because it was great for me.
Ain’t nobody like you three! What an epic drive on those washboard roads. When I go there, I’m going to make sure I stick to asphalt as much as possible. Thanks for showing us what it’s like.
Have always enjoyed your videos! Glad you had a chance to visit a small part of Texas on a cool day spring day with light winds. Maybe you come back later when the wind blows hard and can sand blast your Revel for free. Plus it sometimes gets hot here. If you live in the desert, it will make you tough. If you don’t get tough, it will kill you quickly.
I think we will pass on the hot and windy days. We had enough to wind to last us a life time. I totally get living in the desert making you tough… it also makes you appreciate rain and water.
Be careful Lynn did not look happy. Thank you for showing us this because I'm not going to drive those roads, Sherman would be a pile of parts. Please be careful. Happy tails and safe travels.
I’m with Lynn, I would not have enjoyed those roads! Sometimes I get tips, sometimes learn about places I want to go but this video showed me a place I have no interest in going! Great job on this video.
Washboard roads are the best time to air down your tires. This is my kind of adventure I will be towing a modified Jeep behind my van for offroad adventures and assisting the van if necessary. I just subscribed 👍
We live in South Eastern New Mexico a few miles from the Texas line and our go to backpacking and Jeep trips when the kids where growing up we’re Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Big Bend National Park. My wife and I love it; and as I’ve mentioned before your videos helped us to decide not to get a van and travel upon retirement. Of course now our three kids live in Seattle, Vermont and near you in North Carolina so every family trip does take us far a field. I sent them your video and they could not believe you did that trip. P.S. In both parks if you can backpack up into their high country above 7,000 you will find wonderful alpine forest environments it’s not all desert.
Vicarious thrills. When we were in BBNP last March we opted skip that leg. I had hurt my back, it was pretty miserable. So I’m glad seeing that washboard road that we did skip it. We headed back to home via Alpine and Marfa. Thanks for a view of what we missed! Don’t think we could’ve done it in a Travato, anyway. Not my comfort level, back spasms or not.
WOW those roads were rough! LOL I laughed looking at Maggie, she did not want to get back in the Revel at all! Bless her. Maybe they bolted down the picnic table to keep the cows from rubbing against it and moving it around. Happy tails you guys, and have lots of fun!
Maggie was so done with driving for the day. We took her for a really long walk when we finally got to camp. Everyone is telling they bolt the tables down because of the wind, imagine that.
Owen...looks like you found those off-roads you been looking for. Desolate, rocky, dusty but real pretty and adventurous. Great drone footage too......Happy Trails
Great video! That campsite was way out there. Can’t believe people would take a picnics bench. Glad you both made it out ok after all the boat rocking from the road and the wind. Glad you got some shots from above. Looked really nice. Hope you have a great week abs see you soon! Safe travels.
Fun 🤩 this trip seems like Pearl & My trip to New Mexico ranch last year (Mountain Springs Ranch RV) we spent two weeks there took dirt roads thru ranch lands gost towns bisen ranches for 52 miles one day I enjoyed it while there … Ms P says not so much lol your area there looks the same Winds all the time too …
Pro tip, chew a bit wad of bubble gum, when riding on washboard. 🤣 That’s the reason the big overland trucks have huge tires, on board on-the-fly air up/air down, and air suspension seats. Is it possible to put through bolts on the edge of the bed? They probably bolt the table down, so it doesn’t blow away? Thanks for another great video!
I say but just a guess that the tables are bolted down to keep them in place from the wind and livestock. Wind gust of 55mph could move the table, livestock could move it for shelter.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle just left Big Bend great weather here and we kept it on smooth roads. We camped two nights outside the park. We were impressed with the NP. We were glad we came.

I totally agree, adventures are not always epic and awesome… but they are all adventures. We do try to be positive most of the time but I think it’s more important to be honest.
Have driven 25 miles on washboard road to the campground. The screws were laying all over the floor in the camper when we arrived, good thing the reward was worth it, Lake Superior. My husband was complaining he was never coming back, ha ha, the next year we were back again. I guess it’s what a person is willing to risk vs. the reward, but a wrecker call that far off the beaten path would be a long wait and very expensive. I would not do it solo and without backup transportation. Way to hot down there for me. Btw, glad you enjoyed your trip. 👍🚗🇺🇸🐕🙋🏼♀️
I do think it’s all about the reward and knowing what to expect. The second day was so much better because we knew what to expect. Thanks for watching.
Woo! What a trip! I might’ve been having a panic attack out on that back road. It sure was a vast area. Thanks for letting us ride along today. We are back in NC. John and Debbie were just like they are in their videos... very good people. We had a great time with them. I was glad I didn’t get spit on too, he looked like he was thinking about it a couple of time.
Thanks for this beautiful video. Challenging surroundings but breathtaking scenery in both BB parks. Passed your campsite this late February when doing the Epic trail on MTB. Saw (probably the same) herd of longhorns just north of the road. Late afternoon, riding down the Encino Trail to Sauceda I saw deer. I was pretty close when they turned their heads. They moved a little bit towards the ridge but never panicked😁

Didn’t want to burn up my BF Goodrich kos so I put on my summer tires .. van doesn’t look a cool but better mileage…what tires are run now … I kinda need something in between the two sets I have …. Thanks for the report from Big Bend Ranch State Park. As I was planning our recent trip around in Texas, I tried to utilize our Tx State Park pass as much as possible and considered BB Ranch SP, but we ended up staying at Fort Davis SP instead, due to time constraints. The Big Bend Ranch SP was probably the furtherest away from civilization we’ve ever traveled, it was 35 miles of dirt road to our campsite, there was a camp store about 15 miles in but I don’t consider that civilizationand I don’t even know how far the entrance was from civilization but it was far.

Great Video, was wondering as I you were going down the washboard road why you didn’t air down :) I am awaiting my van, so currently living through other adventures. a couple questions, how much extra dual do you carry and have you ever run dangerously low? Also have you considered on of the suspension upgrades, either the Agile rip kit or van compass?
I guess we kept thinking the road was going to get better, but it never did. We should have aired down the first day. The second day was so much better when we did air down. We carry and extra 2 1/2 gallons, we try real hard not to get to low when we are not sure about fuel supply. Yes we have thought about an suspension upgrade and that will probably be in our future. Airing down will help with the wash board road Evidently you have never been a camp host.....dragging 20 picnic tables back to their designated spot every day sucks.
We learned the second day that airing down was the way to go. I think the first day we kept thinking it’s not going to be to much longer or the road was going to get better. Lesson learned.
Chaco Canyon is 60 miles of dirt road, too, but it is a Spiritual Treasure, not sure if I would do that for a state park. I'd probably just send my drones in for the footage.
