I was told by the lender, "low credit utilization, how you juggle 3 separate creditors at the same time, and enough saved for the potential down payment. Pay on time, nothing in collections". With the downpayment assistance from the county and my requested downpayment assistance from the owners, I closed out of pocket for $488. My realtor Marty Albers at Coldwell was amazing! Being single and a homeowner has other challenges as well. Can cause deep pockets and some sleepless nights. I'm 10 years in and wouldn't change a thing. When my marriage ended I was in the same boat. I did own my house but it was rented out. Someone let me stay in their 17' travel trailer, in dead of winter! Anyway lease ended and I moved back into my place. But I had nothing and no job. So I hit second hand stores and friends gave me things. Of course I had no credit. But through determination and hard work I made it. Also said never again and stuck with it now for 25 yes. And I know you will make too. Your couch is beautiful!
Use your credit card to buy groceries , pay utilities. Things you are going to buy anyway. Pay them off as soon as they show up on your credit card every month. Don’t carry a balance to not have to pay interest.when you pay it off every month, shows that you have more credit money at the end of your credit cycle. You will be so surprised at how high your score will go up and up. Be sure to keep up with your beginning and ending of your credit card cycle.😊😊😊😊

I’ve done the “start over”. 4 times. I’m currently looking for my own home right now. My credit score is over 800. My advice in building credit get a Master Card or visa “with “ rewards. I use my credit card for “everything”. As soon as the charge clears I pay it off. I average $425. in rewards every year. I’m a 71 year old retired, disabled, no job and as I said my credit score is over 800. Set your budget and only spend what you have coming in…actually less. Cause ya need to save for your future home.

My uncle and his girlfriend were together for over 20 years, never married and had separate houses. They were happy. Unfortunately my uncle passed and a few months later his girlfriend (my aunt) passed. But they showed me that a relationship can survive even if yall don’t live together.
I think you can think of credit in a different way. Use your credit card to buy things you have the cash to pay for. Put your bills on your phone calendar with alert reminders. Always help me so I don’t be late. Hop online pay. All what you’re saying can be done. I’m divorced it’s been a few years for me now. Brought a house alone, furnished it etc. All by his Grace 🙏🏽

Yes ma’am have your own. I learned to be responsible for me, myself and I to live with me and be happy. I don’t do well with credit and that was my biggest downfall and I learned the hard way and now live happily alone and I mean to die old and happy.
Congrats! And I agree there is nothing like your own and I cannot STAND credit. Girl, I have Care Credit, too, and I believe in paying that off sooner rather than later. I am outweighing the pros and cons of buying or renting a home. Homeownership is interesting. I do not want to subscribe to a 15 to 30-year mortgage, ideally would love to pay for it in full! 😅 The property taxes, maintenance, and insurance make me feel like, do you ever own your home? Because if you miss a payment the lender and/or lien holder may say differently. I have a .33 acre property in my hometown but I have no desire to live there. Considering selling it and taking the proceeds to live abroad (for a season) or possibly in the future build a home/duplex and rent it out, but not trying to be a landlord so I would have to hire a property manager. I do want to establish "a home base" just not sure where. Sorry for the long post, just thinking/writing out loud. 😂 I wish you God's speed and continued success with your endeavors. 😊

Use your credit cards regularly. Pay them off daily/weekly via bill pay through your bank or directly through the credit card company linking it to a bank account. Remember, no credit is as bad or worse than bad credit.
