One of the best Al rants! I love how he refers to cockroaches as cock-a-roaches. A one-of-a-kind character whose presence and fire are much missed in today's sterile environment.

Well said! He made his reputation as a sleazeball and he could certainly be that, but he was also endearing in his excess.

@@alexthompson9516 I think the key difference between Al Goldstein and other outspoken counterculture figures (e.g., Harlan Ellison, Jello Biafra, Bill Hicks) is that Al Goldstein had wit and a way with words. The other just spewed venomous bile with no sense of humor or self-awareness. Sure, Al could be vicious, but he had a certain charm and humility, as well as a willingness to poke as much fun at himself as his targets.

@@KaijuEigaMan88 I don't disagree with you exactly, but Harlan Ellison is one of my favorite writers, I think he's a very talented writer and ranter.

@@alexthompson9516 We''ll have to agree to disagree on Harlan, who always struck me as a petty, vile man that should have been put in his place when he was still alive.

@@KaijuEigaMan88 Petty, yeah, but vile...I reserve terms like that for the Weinsteins and Epsteins and so forth.
