Papyrus CAN fly in-game, usually is just played as a joke! Sans constantly teleports around too. So everything so far is really in-game! Also, Asgore has a lock in-game too, 2 to be exact, they aren't anything really important in-game, its just a "find the keys to move forward" type of puzzle, they take to both the basement and the barrier.
Something many people don't acknowledge is how sans's attack in this doesn't even effect papyrus. That just shows how pure of heart he is! He has no bad karma
I just realized something. So, Asgore says at 19:45 that he didn't know a monster's attack could just not do damage to someone. However, we know that grey attacks, used only by Nabstablook, don't do any damage. Maybe Asgore's never heard of the grey because it's so much rarer than even blue or orange magic, both of which he uses himself, aside from turning the soul blue. Also, Gaster being upset about Toriel and Asgore having a kid is so much deeper now that I'm older and actually get it. I was like... in middle school when I first watched this series on my own, but now Im in college, and I get his fear. Since they're giving up their immortality, not only will they be able to be killed, but they'll be able to die of natural causes like illness or old age. Gaster has no other skeletons, so CAN'T have a child, and so he'll always be immortal. Asgore and Toriel are like his parents, and while I'm sure he's happy for them, he's also terrified of losing them as them and eventually Alphys seem to be the only people he really has until Sans and Papyrus.
Gaster isn't a Boss monster, he isn't immortal. Only Boss monsters are immortal until they have a child (and go back to being immortal if the child just so happens to die by being attacked by humans)
@ Why isn’t Gaster a boss monster? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious what makes him a normal Monster when his power is at the level of a boss’s.
@@TurgoLBX2510 I'm pretty sure being a Boss Monster doesn't necessarily make you more powerful than other monsters. I mean, I'm pretty sure Undyne, Papyrus/Sans (Partly Sans, I more so refer to his ingame difficulty) and even someone like Mettaton (Robot but still magic attacks) are proof of that. Gaster probably is just very proficient with his magic, unlike the average monster. Sure, the Boss Monsters we've seen are well above the average range of power, but they're also exclusively the royal family. I don't think we've seen any other BM, or at least, confirmed to be BMs'.
Okay so in 17:47 where Papyrus levitated and sans teleported both of theese happen in game for papyrus he levitated over you and casually leaves afther the battle in game and for sans he jooks you around by teleporting in erias so your walking the left way you see him and then you decide too go the right way and you see him again it's like there's two Sanses at once and he makes a pun about that you sure like walking a lot. So if you ever play Undertale, know that that's in game and it's amazing they added it in thus comic
Interesting Fact: Boss monsters only age if they have a child and the parent's life is transferred to the child, if the child dies the parent's aging process stops.
I just wanted to say thank you for continuing to watch Handplates and not abandoning the series like other creators, I know it can be a hard watch but you're very brave! ❤
3:53 he treated blue magic as horrible not because it was used for killing, but because his subjects having it meant they were more dangerous to him. he traumatized them against using it so that they... would'nt. against him. wich is why he died, because Papyrus didn't use blue magic to try to save him, BECAUSE of the trauma he inflicted to him. In a way, he died because of his sins. 11:07 i don't think he had this ability yet. he DEFINETELY does not know of Gaster's existence
@@thechosenone5421nah. Papyrus wouldn't ever give up a life even if the person was as awful as can be. Shadow's explanation makes more sense, because we know that he truamatized the two skeletons about using blue magic, and of course it adds irony to the scene that multiple things he chose to do came back to haunt him. (Refusing to make proper rails, not letting them use blue souls, abusing them and making sans hate him. All of these were his choices that led to his death.)
Dude, if you get the chance to, go back and read the joke comics Zaria wrote that went along with handplates. They add a bit of levity that I feel like you could definitely do with, even if they’re (mostly) non-canon to the overarching story
*No Major Spoilers ahead* Just so you know, there is a Season 4, and more. I recommend looking at the Handplates playlist by Briana M. I believe the comic is the same author as this one. It has season 4, everything else leading up to the Genocide run, the run, reset, and extra stuff not apart of normal Undertale lore. It’s really fascinating the ideas and moral dilemmas they dive into.
I second that notion, I got a bit worried when he said 'we're almost done' (though I hope he just meant with season 3 ^^') Thank you for mentioning that playlist, I couldn't find it or I would have done the same. Would hate if his reactions got cut short, they're so heartfelt :)
I know they are monsters and all, but having literal skeletons wear the clothes of your dead children can't be good for your mental state, Sans has a point
I think an earlier comment of mine got blocked because of a link to a cute handplates follow-up comic :( (the creator of handplates has a whole collection of silly goofy asides that really lift your mood after a rough handplates update, so I wanted to share) Either way, what I wanted to say was that I adore your reactions, especially because you take the comic seriously. The other reactors I found tend to crack to many jokes and never really connect emotionally with the characters, which bummed me out. So I doubly appreciate the emotional effort you put into these reactions and the analysis. I completely agree on the deep-dive concerning Gasters disappearance. Zarla did an awesome job turning existing characterizations (e.g. Alphys being a nervous wreck) into something that resulted from Gasters fall. Short aside, did you notice the nice picture of Asgore and Toriel (and definitely not of Gaster getting his degree). Another thing I wanted to mention was that after Calysto stopped making the dub in season five, Phoenix Prime picked up the comic from there. Since you kept saying there are five seasons, I just wanted to let you know there is actually more. They just don't come in a season package anymore, instead they give each comic its own 5-min video. Really hope you watch the entire comic, because I feel like the ending is more than worth it. Plus, cutting it off where Calysto stopped dubbing would drove me nuts when it happened, and I don't wish that on anyone else :)
@guideoftheriver I did watch the whole thing actually, and he was only told about the losing immortality part. I was simply clarifying that they regain that immortality if the child dies. There's no need to be a prick about it.
Please try and keep your cursor nearer to the center of the screen, whenever you pause and unpause the dub you skip ahead on occasion and miss sections.

This is how Asgore and Toriel have managed to survive for centuries while waiting for the fall of the 7 humans.
You know.. he says this in the video..
@@guideoftheriver And I posted this message before watching the video.

I think the reason papyrus didn't hold Gaster is because he finally let someone die, and didn't take action to prevent it

Boss monsters are immortal until they have children. Then if the child dies, they become immortal once again.
Challenge: try to watch the whole video before commenting something he already knows (impossible)

I think if the parents died, the child would stop aging. If one parent died, the child would age half as fast.
