    I’m heading up to big bear this weekend , any shore spots you recommend? I haven’t fished here in years and that was on a boat

      That's still a ways out, I'll have fished 2 more times before then. I update everything on Patreon!

    From now on you will be forever known as Farmer West. Why mess with the drag so much on a big fish. Let the big ones just run and then bring in the tired fish. Keep practicing not horsing fish in

    Your 100% correct that BBL is a tough lake to fish because of changes in the lake constantly. No wonder they call it fishing and not catching.

    Hey! Thinking of subscribing to the patreon. Are fishing reports same day that you go or a little bit delayed on there?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 месяцев назад +1

      We do a mixture of both. It depends on the lake and how time sensitive the information is. Generally, we update same day of the trips and do weekly reports that give an overview of the best spots for the coming days. So the next 2 to 3 days would be covered. After that it would be smart to wait for me to go hit some of these spots to figure out what's next. There are times we do live reports also.

    Tough one to bust off ! I have a couple of those orange rod holders that you have . Been looking to order more but I can't find them , did you get yours recently?

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 месяцев назад +1

      Those are the best rod holders ever made right? Unfortunately they don't make them anymore. I was reaching out to the original manufacturer located in China and they went under. I used to make them in supply them out. I bought these at Walmart probably 15 years ago. I have half of another one. I'm trying to find the other part still 🤣

    thanks for the videos you put out , i fish there too. i really enjoy watching your videos. do you normal wait around thirty minutes to make a move? if no bites? or also , for bait and wait, how long do you let it sit? before trying a different color, or changing the leader length or technique? thanks again!

      Typically I only fish in the area for 1 hour regardless of how good it is because I provide a report over on patreon and that requires me fishing most of the shoreline to give the most accurate report on where the bite is the strongest. However, I advise people to leave a location after about 1 hour to an hour and a half of no bites. This is for Big Bear only. There are other suggestions for other lakes.... Color is rarely the issue when there are no bites... There are certain times of the year where a color will outperform another one, but at Big Bear... you can pretty much put on anything and get bites if there are fish at the location you're trying. You're either on the fish or you're not. Leader lengths might get adjusted depending on the distance I'm casting and the weed amount in the area I am trying. There are some spots on Big Bear that have a really deep weed bed... That would require a longer leader in order to have the bait floating above the weeds. Other locations are Sandy bottom but the fish are shallow and you don't need a very long leader to get them. Great questions. Appreciate the comment.

    Too bad about the big fish, always disappointing when they come off before you can at least lay eyes on them.

      There are a few small trout and small bass left from last year... Lots of snow there right now. Lake is full.

      Can’t wait to float tube Jenks when the lake is stocked. Not very big fish, but pretty steady bite when on the water.
