    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  5 лет назад +1

      San Ghuloom I have been asked to review this Yamaha interface/mixer before, so I’ll definitely get a review made for it!
      Yes you can have it go out to your camera while you’re recording to your computer. The MG10XU has two rca outputs (the red and white plugs). You will just need an rca to 3.5mm cable. Then you will just plug the rca side into the mixer, and the 3.5mm side into your mic jack on your DSLR.

      Looks like the Sony MDR-7506 to me.
      I have a pair...if you are just checking overall sound levels they are fine. They are pretty useless for anything beyond that. These are more of a "reference" headphone. They are very flat yet sorely lack in bass detail. These are the headphones you typically see a Director/Boom Operator wearing on-set just to make sure they hear the dialog.

    Great video, but I'm so confused. Every image that I see of this mic has a round pop filter. Even the link that you have included beneath your video goes to an amazon page with the round pop filter. But in your video, the pop filter is rectangle. Which is the most current version of this product?

    • @catjack90
      @catjack90 3 года назад

      The greatest difference between the new and old version is not only the pop filter's shape but the material as well as the shockmount. The current kit model comes with a basic shockmount and a round fabric pop filter. The old version came with a rectangular metal pop filter and an amazing rycote shockmount that's way better than the new ones and yes unfortunately the price for the kit hasn't change. The quality of the other parts in the kit were superior and they have mantained the price, yet decreased the quality of the overall kit. The microphone is the same though.
      Although you can still find the kit with the old features (the better ones) if you get the kit that also includes the Rode interface in it. It's more expensive, but buying everything separately costs a lot more, so I guess it's worth it.
      The only way I know this is because I've done some research about mics because I need new condenser microphone, I got the NT1-A and it came defective so I returned it and I've heard everywhere that the NT1 is superior, but the old kit is kinda hard to find and since Rode didn't respond to my mail of a defective mic and I just ended up returning it to the store, I'm seriously thinking of getting the Seinnheiser mk4 now as I've heard good things about it, being really great for voices which is what I want it for.

    Great video and your mic sounds awesome. I also have the NT1 but I'm really struggling to get it to sound 'right'. I'm using it alongside a Rodecaster Pro so they should work beautifully together. I've watched all the official Rode videos and several others too. I have it sounding 'muddy' as if I'm talking through my shirt, on other occasions it sounds as though I'm several feet away and there are also occasions when it's 'tinny'. Despite trying all the the various tweaks on the Rodecaster Pro I just can't it right. There's never any 'punch'. My previous set up was simply an Audio-Technica USB mic plugged directly into the PC which always sounded great. Do you have any recommendations?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  2 года назад +2

      Interesting. Have you been able to try a different mic into your Rodecaster pro? If so, did it sound normal? If you want, send me an audio sample over to audiohotline@gmail.com and I'll take a listen and we can talk more about it there once I hear the example.
      I did have an issue with an NT1 a while back that sounds pretty similar to the issue you're having. I had bought that mic used and it no longer had the warranty, so I had to buy another one. But if you bought it from an authorized dealer you could definitely contact RØDE and have them do an exchange for a new one.

    Did you use an In-line preamp (SE Dynamite) on a condenser mic>? was it applicable... I just saw the gears you've used the SE Dynamite and I was wondering wether it was straight on the mic or in a different line.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  2 года назад +1

      You actually aren't able to use a mic activator like the SE Dynamite with a condenser mic. Those devices require +48v of phantom power, and so does a condenser mic, so they can't be in the same signal chain. Mic activators are meant to be used with inactive dynamic mics and inactive ribbon mics.

    Why you sound different when you are in the picture vs voiceover? its way better on voice over parts.. It is because proximity effect?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  3 года назад

      Yes. Proximity effect is the answer to that. When I am not in the shot I get closer to the mic, when I am in the shot I stay the recommended 5-6 inches away so that the mic isn’t blocking my face. Don’t be fooled though, bassier doesn’t always mean better. Boosting frequencies in post is easy, but if you are really close and it starts to sound muddy, that is much harder to deal with after the fact.

    I got really nervous when you got real close to the mic after proclaiming your love or the NT1 and double downed by saying you're a spitter.!!!

    Do i need to buy audio interface with rode Nt1?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  5 лет назад +1

      vannos spot yes, you will need to have an audio interface that has an XLR input that can supply 48v of phantom power to the NT1. There is a bundle with the RØDE NT1 that comes with the RØDE AL-1 audio interface, that goes for $350. A lot of people love the Scarlett solo (around $100) a good budget option is the Behringer UMC22 ($60).

      @@AudioHotline Your review is really amazing! Regarding Scarlett solo, could this interface handle 1 mic for voice and 1 the instrument like guitar or digital piano?

    I tried to buy one today. The man at guitar center just kind of looked at me sad and said since the pandemic He's only seen two. They are made in Australia and Australians are not free.

      Not to shit in anyone’s Cheerios... but RØDE has been dealing with more counterfeit mics, so they have cracked down on who their authorized dealers are. I would personally not recommend buying from anyone who isn’t an authorized dealer on RØDE’s website, because then you won’t get that great warranty, and even worse... you may not be getting an authentic RØDE mic. Much like the classic saying “if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.”
