I’m really glad Gecs didn’t rush this. They could’ve scrambled to throw together an album back in 2019, but they resisted the pressure and took their time. So many artists have derailed their careers by rushing to strike while the iron is hot off a viral song or album. It says to me that Gecs care a lot about their craft and their musicianship, and it shows on this album. It also gave them some time to work out their live shows, because when I saw them last year, they crushed it. Good for them.
1. I'm a little sad that there was no mention of what a stone cold banger the opening track Dumbest Girl Alive is 2. Totally agreed that it is respectable that they didn't just drop a quick easy album during the hypestorm of 1000 3. I think the flatter production of TMWPITUS sounds awesome once you get past the surprise of it. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album. 4. The use of more natural vocals instead of the heavy filtering and up-pitching is great, in my opinion. The gecs have taken another step forward as creators and put themselves out there even further. I think their natural voices are a great presence on the album and heightens the honesty of the project. Thanks for the review Anthony!
I think the reason why autotune was so prevalent in the last album was that Laura felt her natural voice was too deep at the time so she pitched it up. However, she's had speech and vocal therapy since then so she can naturally speak with a more feminine voice
Hard disagree on Frog On The Floor. Shit slaps and just puts me in a good mood and is a great bit of levity after the first heavy three tracks. I kind of think this also is why 1 Million Dollars exits, where it's so weird/offbeat in comparison to Billie Knows Jamie's insane ending ( Not unlike 800db Cloud into I Need Help Immediately) . Also - can't believe you didn't mention wacky funny THX Noise in front of Dumbest Girl Alive
Frog On The Floor is such a bop and really something that only Gecs could’ve made. Anthony criticised the ‘flat delivery’ but I love Lauras relaxed retelling of a story voice when she describes the frog doing a keg-stand, feels not too dissimilar to Weezer’s Undone The Sweater Song.

When this album dropped. I was having a really shitty day, and work absolutely destroyed me mentally. The album released while I was at work and I got to listen to it on the car ride home when. I got out of my car and went inside I was smiling, and I felt OK about the day I had. This is not like a dramatized story like “oh they cured my depression” or whatever. Just being able to hear the new gecs made me smile on a really bad day. Because of that, I think this album is going to score higher for me.
This was a very wholesome comment you wrote and totally get what you mean how some good music can sometimes put a smile on your face despite your world feeling like total shit. That little brief relief from crushing depression that some good music can bring sometimes is true magic no matter how fleeting the feeling can be....then we go to bed and wake up to start the next horrible day hoping we get a chance to feel that same kind of relief again, even if that next release fades away almost as fast as it first happened.
The Anthony Kiedis line makes that song amazing and give the album an extra point. Don't denied that. If Laura said "Fantano" instead of "Kiedis" you probably would've give this album a 9.

@@becketclark9942 it bears a strong resemblance to their track ‘Vic the Butcher’ from the first Afterman record. But yeah it’s a common set of notes for a metal riff
It reads as a love letter to late 90’s, early 00’s pop music and culture. Fantano mentions the Limp Bizkit influence, but also sounds like Dylan Brady uses the horse sample from The Avalanches’ “Stay Another Season” in Most Wanted Person in the US. More of a stretch, but the vocoder on One Million Dollars kinda reminds me of Fitter Happier on OK Computer. Both maybe a stretch, but a lot of nostalgia on these songs - not unlike the What’s New Scooby Doo and Kiss Me Thru The Phone interpolations on 1,000 Gecs
dumbest girl alive is a genuine banger, gives me flashbacks to some of the UK indie girl bands. I'm really enjoying Hollywood Baby also, full early Wheatus vibes in the chorus that somehow isn't just pastiche. I dig it. I don't really care if it's meant to be dumb, or whatever.
Surprised you didn't talk more about dumbest girl alive, one of my favorite tracks from this album. Really sticks to the gec tradition of comedically out there but somehow cohesive. From my view it is basically the gecs take on all the bassy grungey deep voiced "trap" (idk if that is right) music that has been getting increasingly popular since the first album released. Like Corpse husband. THX intro, Sicko Mode drums, crazy train riffs and just an unreasonable amount of bass all combine together into a self deprecative song that feels very similar to said "trap" songs, but is distinctly gecced up. Fucking wonderful. Also, I was very much getting Rage Against The Machine vibes from Billy v Jamie, but idk if that's just me. Overall, I'm geccing for life. 10/10 haven't enjoyed an album this much since 1000.
I discovered 100 gecs from your review of 1000 gecs, & I'm glad to have discovered them. 10000 Gecs (also Snake Eyes EP) to me is just as fun and chaotic as the debut & remix album. If I had to choose my favorite tracks: Mememe, Frog on the Floor, I got my Tooth Removed, Runaway, Doritios & Fritos and Hollywood Baby.

Anthony first put me into their 1000 gecs album, and It wasn't for me at the time. After seeing him give it an 8 and wondering if I was being trolled, I listened to this one and really liked it. Idk if I gave it a lie unbiased shot or my music taste changed a little, but all I know is the album is short and goes hard af. Lowkey is the type of music I probably won't tell most of my friends I listen to, but I'm officially a fan, lol.
I'm just still so sad that Can U Hear Me Now didn't make it to the album. It is probably my all time favorite track from them and I feel like it would have fit great on the album. Also, I wanted to hear a studio version. :'(

This album was my intro to them and the instant I got done listening to it I tracked down tickets to a sold out show. I love their use of synth bass layered with guitar all over this album, it reminds me of NIN which is my favorite band.
I swear, Fantano's writing is sometimes as inscrutable as the Gecs themselves. The way he talks about an album during the review often sounds so glowing that you'd think it's gonna be at least an 8, but winds up as a 6 or 7 - then here, he doesn't sound that positive, as if it's gonna be a 6 or 7, but winds up as an 8. After nearly a decade of watching his reviews, the number at the end still frequently surprises me.
a decent amount of the production sounded like it was inspired by that really great satanicpornocultshop record with the even longer title, definitely a really sonically dense and wildly produced record. billy knows jamie is insane
Seeing 100 Gecs in less than a month, the was a little fear that this album might face the sophmore slump. Nope! Incredible banger that I look forward to getting down to. @@becketclark9942 it bears a strong resemblance to their track ‘Vic the Butcher’ from the first Afterman record. But yeah it’s a common set of notes for a metal riff
@@becketclark9942 Welcome Home
bridge is the acoustic opening from Welcome Home looped. Took me two go arounds to catch it.
loved this record. there were moments that were super reminiscent of Mindless Self Indulgence's best production
also butthole surfers.
>Mindless Self Indulgence
Man, this band was dumb, but in a neat way... then Jimmy Urine turned to be an unironical actual pedo...
one million dollars instrumental feels kinda MSI
Had the same thought
Can't believe he gave this whole album a 0 just because, with the best teeth in the game, he couldn't relate to I Got My Tooth Removed.
This album really makes your F E E L like 100 gecs
Frog On The Floor is easily one of the best songs on the album and of their career
It’s definitely close to their best, it’s so simple but really feels like a song only Gecs could’ve made.
ironically I LOVE laura's vocals on frog on the floor, it made me want more raw vocals from her
It reads as a love letter to late 90’s, early 00’s pop music and culture.
Yeah it’s all of these things seen through a nostalgic lens for millennials
What song do they interpolate kiss me through the phone on?
@@craz5634xxx wud neverstop!
The Most Wanted Person in the United States is the best song on here tbh
dumbest girl alive is a genuine banger, gives me flashbacks to some of the UK indie girl bands.
10/10 haven't enjoyed an album this much since 1000.
i dont listen to a full album on the regular anymore but man listening to this is SO much fun, i have been listening to this non stop !
Agree with the rating but Frog On the Floor is genuinely the best song on the album BY FAR
Dud3, listen to toothless, it's their best produced song, and it's brostep/dubstep!
@@adityabhujbal6891 Toothless is a good song, but personally from the remix album, I would never stop U Hannah Diamond remix, Ringtone with KKB & Rico, Hand Crushed ft. Fall out Boy, and Gec 2 u Dorian Electra remix are better.
His 757 take is insane like bro that outro is one of the hardest things to come out this entire year how can you say it doesn't develop
How does I SMELL THE TREES WHEN I'M IN COLORADO, INTERIOR GAS STATION MCDONALDS not get you hyped!??!??
my new favorite band honestly. something about their music itches my brain.
Tony giving this album the credit it deserves is everything I wanted for 2023 so thanks melon 😘
He didn’t give Frog On The Floor the respect it deserves. Not angry just disappointed.
Billy Knows Jamie is SUCH A BANGER
the outro of 757 is probably my favorite part on the whole album
DRY VOCALS!?! was the frog doing a keg stand not enough?
I'm gonna be honest, listening to the full album front-to-back would probably give me 5 strokes, but I respect this for what it is
I've listened to this album on repeat all day, every day since it came out.
trust me this one is more catchy than it is spastic
@@themilestudios Given that you'd be able to listen to it about 53 times/day and it's been out for four days, that's approximately 1067 dodged strokes for Wilo Polis. That man is cheating death.
This is an album of the year contender. It's so good!!!!!
You can tell that they really put all 10,000 of their gecusies into making this album.
It really takes skill to create 9,000 albums after 1000 gecs, impressed!
I've never heard of gecs and this album is the greatest thing I've ever stumbled across. Disagree with every critique you've given. Most wanted person, frog on the floor, one million dollars, all bang, Anthony.
Welcome to the gec community my man🦎
Billie Knows Jamie is what put this album over for me. Been obsessed after I heard that.
What is it with melon hating on songs about frogs (example: M83 - Raconte-moi une histoire)?
One melon dollars
One melon dollars
One melon dollars
One melon dollars
hahahaha
Anthony first put me into their 1000 gecs album, and It wasn't for me at the time. After seeing him give it an 8 and wondering if I was being trolled, I listened to this one and really liked it. Idk if I gave it a lie unbiased shot or my music taste changed a little, but all I know is the album is short and goes hard af. Lowkey is the type of music I probably won't tell most of my friends I listen to, but I'm officially a fan, lol.
You should come back to 1000 gecs!
i love this album. such a great improvement from the previous record. really looking forward to their future output
How date you slander frog on the floor. He's a frog in the floor, where did he come from?
I'm just still so sad that Can U Hear Me Now didn't make it to the album. It is probably my all time favorite track from them and I feel like it would have fit great on the album. Also, I wanted to hear a studio version. :'(
they realized the auto tune version on the last album was superior
I think this is the best pure rock n roll record to come out in the last few years. I got my tooth removed is am absolute gem.
My wife doesn’t like Frog On The Floor by 100 gecs from the album 10,000 gecs and I don’t know what to do
My wife asked me what I was listening to yesterday and I told her I was listening to my favorite song Frog On The Floor by 100 gecs from the album 10,000 gecs. I put it on our speakers so she could hear my favorite song Frog On The Floor by 100 gecs from the album 10,000 gecs and she said she didn’t like Frog On The Floor by 100 gecs from the album 10,000 gecs.
I’m think of leaving her. How can I stay with a person who doesn’t love Frog On The Floor by 100 gecs from the album 10,000 gecs? I know the kids will be upset but I think they will understand eventually.
Melon, you can’t just say Frog On The Floor is your least favorite song because there weren’t any frogs nearby.
specially as God is sending a plague of frogs to his current location.
@@miserirken 100 Frogs
1:57 *Whatever the gec they want
Tbh 100 Gecs probably made hyperpop the vaguely defined genre it is today
frog on the floor. whered he come from?
They play whatever the gec they want
This album is like what Nevermind is to neurodivegent folks
10,000 gecs feels like a love letter to the music from the late 90s to early 00s, it feels like a cd that I would have burned back in high school.
Hollywood baby is the greatest song I have heard in the last 5 years
We’re over halfway into the year and Frog On The Floor is still one of this years hardest songs
He calls One Million Dollars an "absurd detour" as if the album was ever on a straight path.
even the most random and "omg so crazy and weird haha" albums have a nice pattern and flow to them.
@@wisco9er536 tell me a unifying path that this album was on that it could've gone off of.
Me listening to the tone of the review: this is gonna be a 5 or 6 for sure
Me seeing the score: 😳 wow😨😱
CIs perspective of 10.000 gecs is WILD
Frog on the floor, unironic banger. How did I know you were going to fuck it up again?
how did Thisthony Mantano go through the whole album and not talk about the killer opener, Dumbest Girl Alive?!
or hollywood baby
Frog on the Floor in the WORST? I question your soul
Melon is the only person over 30 who enjoyed this album give him some credit
Fantano: feeling a light 8
Gecs: put emojis on my grave
I can’t wait until they release 1,000,000,000 Gecs
This album was my intro to them and the instant I got done listening to it I tracked down tickets to a sold out show. I love their use of synth bass layered with guitar all over this album, it reminds me of NIN which is my favorite band.
Anthony doesn’t want to give him some space and let him do his thing. Melon doesn’t make him feel safe or listen to him sing
After nearly a decade of watching his reviews, the number at the end still frequently surprises me.
a decent amount of the production sounded like it was inspired by that really great satanicpornocultshop record with the even longer title, definitely a really sonically dense and wildly produced record. billy knows jamie is insane
i love satanicpornocultshop
I listened to it just now for the first time. Damn, this shits good. Thanks
Frog On The Floor has been stuck in every crevice of my brain since this release
Seeing 100 Gecs in less than a month, the was a little fear that this album might face the sophmore slump. Nope! Incredible banger that I look forward to getting down to. I hope to see people leapfrogging to Frog on the Floor. Currently #4 on my top albums so far this year, I do not seeing it getting bumped out of my top 10.
You rated this higher than fetch the bolt cutters
You can't give 80 Gecs a 10,000 out of 10, Anthony
Frog on the Floor makes me smile from ear to ear and giggle every time I listen, I think it’s a highlight on the album for sure
It's more insane and weirder than the previous one
