Lizz , how do you feel about the people of Birmingham , I don't remember the Irish people sending their condolences to the people of Britain, after terrorist attack. But what do you expect from the natural successor, to Nevill Chamberlain.
If I may, I suggest that the people of Britain, hold a street party to celebrate the good news.

My condolences to all who have lost loved ones. What happened? Where is the journalism?
its the biggest news here in Ireland ...
Why do we keep losing innocent people 😇?
very sad.
I know this was an accident, but please anyone reading this , it is unbelievable the amount of times working in a petrol station I have seen people smoking cigarettes around the station and pumping fuel while on their phones that can cause a spark reaction, even when you go around to the sides of petrol stations underneath you is massive petrol tanks and also gas bottles, NEVER do either of these things when near a petrol station, it is unbelievable how many times I've said this to the general public (and have gotten verbal abuse off them)
Condolences to Ireland and families of those who died 😭😭 🙏🙏💐💐. Why are some so angry and uncaring to persons who have done nothing to you, The world is in turmoil 🙏🙏🙏

Terrible. Prayers for this community. What caused this, though? Petrol leak fires usually cause more fire damage and less explosive damage. This “looks” more like the damage you would see from a natural gas or propane tank explosion.
what is the root cause of the explosion? How will the petrol supply be maintained?

Carlow, a small town in south east Ireland, once had its own cricket club, but it closed in the 1980s.
Then, in 2009, 64 Rohingya refugees were resettled in Carlow from refugee camps in Bangladesh, where they had taken to playing cricket. They were eager to start playing once more.
13 nationalities are represented in Carlow Cricket Club, and its players have big dreams:
“I hope to one day play in the Ireland national cricket team,” says Alam, 15, who was born in a refugee camp after his family had to flee their home in Myanmar. “That way I will be able to show that you can go from a squalid camp to the highest national podium.”

My deepest sympathies to the victims. I don`t understand how this can happen. Liquid fuel doesn't explode, what explodes is fuel vapour, so the place must have smelled strongly of fuel before exploding.
Ajax Planta They believe it was a gas leak(natural) in the apartment building behind the station and the debris collapse on the station there was no explosion in the station if there was the death toll would have been far higher .One of those that died was a young trainee fashion designer visiting her boyfriend in the apartment building.I don't no whether there was a tank or cylinder ,but if there was a leak all that would be needed to spark an explosion is the flick of a light switch.

Maybe they should phase out apartments/flats over gas/petrol stations in a 5 year period....5 years seems reasonable to me.
the explosion didn't originate in the petrol station , it was a gas cylinder connected to the flats that exploded

How sad, I'm a bit blown away.
We're a funny old species, probably dozens upon dozens of people of all ages died in hospitals in Ireland yesterday but when they will die together in an accident people go into mourning.
I'm the same as everyone else in this regard, but it doesn't make a lot of sense if you stop to think about it.
Very well said David
You got a point
Not normal for a single place to lose 2.5% of it's population in a single incident.
Imagine going to grenfell tower and saying "people die every day bro"
The families and loved ones of those who died in hospital of old age or cancer also mourn. What we are specifically mourning HERE is a sudden and tragic mass loss of life, lives lost for no reason, seemingly at random. It is shocking and it reminds us that we can all go just as quickly.
So you're saying all natural deaths that happen in ireland every day should be reported in the news every night ,When their doctors and family know that everything that can be done has been done and there's nothing more that can be done .these deaths are reported in obituaries on local radio ,tributes are paid funerals are attended by family and friends. A massive explosion that causes the sudden death of 10 people who were in no imminent danger of dying is not a natural cause of death ,it is a tragedy and worthy of worldwide attention. Your comment Is pathetic.

Flats above a petrol station?, I could imagine if they wanted to get home/life insurance they’d have to pay an immense amount.
Is that a gas station? Why it happened?
Gas leak in an apartment that set off and blew up the station too
I understand. Thank you very much.
It was an accident at an Irish petrol station ? Getting more media coverage than most terrorist attacks in the UK
why is no one asking how this many? also 400 people that all know it each other sounds like a cult to me
