David, so many men need your help and guidance! You are a truly gifted speaker & role model for men everywhere. They will love you and your amazing personality, it will bring them so much closer to Christ by your loving caring example!!💗♥️💗
I have this picture in my mind when I hear the story of the ship during the storm at sea. I live by the sea. From as far back as I can remember a southwesterner would come ashore like a train-deadly-but at the same time, mesmerizing. Everything stops and we watch the ocean roar and listen to the wind-witnessing the creators work. I wonder if he loved seeing his creation in action, knowing he was saving us all, Storms are a powerful reminder to me of why I need Jesus the creator of storms. I remember the mornings after running to the beach swept clean and finding shells and treasure washed ashore. Everything looked new.
That’s a powerful image of being mesmerized by the storm, and then finding treasures and things uncovered after its passing. I don’t think that Christ causes the storms (real or allegorical), but they can be used to reset our priorities and change the direction we are headed. I think about how a sailboat can travel into the wind by “tacking”. So, two sail boats driven by the same wind can end up in very different places depending on what direction they are facing and where they ultimately want to go.
Jesse Claus ... Here are some mesmerizing passages from the N/T witch ought to help you with your studies! 1. Can Jesus prove his lineage back to David? The Pedigrees in Matthew 1:2-17 (28 names) and Luke 3:23-38 (43 names) disagree, yet both are said to be Joseph’s lineage. 2. Matthew includes 4 women in Joseph’s lineage (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba) Luke does not. The Torah counts one’s lineage only through the fathers, Genesis 5, Numbers 1:2, 17-18. 3. Who knew about the Virgin Birth? Only Matthew and Luke seem to know anything about a virgin birth. If something as miraculous as a virgin birth had occurred, it seems odd that Mark and John did not mention it in their effort to convince their readers that Jesus was who they claimed him to be. In contradiction, Paul never mentions a virgin birth (insisting he was born of a woman) even though it would have strengthened his claim if he had. See Romans 1:3 and Galatians 4:4. 4. When was Jesus born? Matthew 2:1 says Jesus was born during the time of Herod. Luke 2:2 says that he was born was born during the first census in Israel, while Quirinus was governor of Syria. This is not possible because Herod died in about 4 B.C., and the census took place in 6 and 7 A.D., about 10 years after Herod’s death. 5. Why can’t the gospel writers agree on the order in which the disciples were selected? In Matthew 4:18-22 and Mark 1:16-20, Peter and Andrew are casting nets into the sea. Jesus calls out to them and they leave their nets and follow him. Jesus then goes on a little further and sees James and John mending their nets with their father. He calls to them and they leave their father and follow him. In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus asks Peter to take him out in Peter’s boat so Jesus can preach to the multitude. James and John are in another boat. When Jesus finishes preaching, he tells Peter how to catch a great quantity of fish (John 21:3-6 incorporates this story in a post- resurrection appearance). After Peter catches the fish, he and James and John are so impressed that after they bring their boats to shore they leave everything and follow Jesus. In John 1:35-42, Andrew hears John the Baptist call Jesus the Lamb of Yah. Andrew then stays with Jesus for the remainder of the day and then goes to get his brother Peter and brings him to meet Jesus. 6. The Great Catch - Luke and John disagree when the great catch took place (see above). 7. When did John the Baptist first meet Jesus and when did he first know who Jesus was? John the Baptist’s first encounter with Jesus was while both of them were still in their mothers’ wombs, at which time John, apparently recognizing his “Saviour,” leaped for joy (Luke 1:44). Much later, while John is baptizing (John 1:29, 36) he refers to Jesus as “the Lamb of Yah who takes away the sins of the world”, and “the Son of Yah”. John’s recognition of Jesus as the son of Yah and Saviour of the world is explicitly contradicted by Luke 7:18-23 in which the imprisoned John sends two of his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is coming, or do we look for someone else?” 8. When was Jesus baptized? Luke, who claims to be chronological (Luke 1:3), gives the impression that John did not baptize Jesus. Luke’s account of Jesus’ baptism occurs after the account of John’s imprisonment (Luke 3:20-21). John 1:25-34 indicates that John baptized Jesus before Jesus’ ministry began. If you need some more stimulation give me a shout! May JeZEUS bless you!
I love how the faith of others healed the boy. Alma showed this to us. I also think there is another aspect to this story. There are times when our thought of our sins weigh so heavy on us we give ourselves symptoms due to stress, not actual illnessness to justify our thoughts/feelings. Once his sins were forgiven, he no longer had need for the symptoms and was healed. Much like kids have horrible tummy aches, and as soon as 9am rolls around, they are symptom free. The pain is gone, and they have escaped whatever was stressing them out so badly. 😢 Never underestimate the power of forgiveness!
I just love love how your lessons are sooo motivational for me. I’m pretty much home bound due to a few illnesses, so I like to hear your lessons as soon as I can. Sometimes it’s not the day you publish them, but I really look forward to your insights and how much fun you make studying them. Thank you. I hope you never stop❣️
I loved ALL the insights I gained about the characteristics of Jesus in every one of these stories today. But one I realized as David was speaking about the 4 friends and their paralyzed friend is that sometimes Jesus doesn't give us the miracle we ask for, He gives us something better. The thing He knows we actually really need, even if we don't realize it. And then He also often gives us the thing we ask for. He has so much love for us.
Oh I NEEDED this one! 😭😭😭😭💗💗💗 I love these videos so much! Thank you for sharing these beautiful insights. You two are carrying a couple of my corners... Thank you💗
I just had to laugh at why doesn’t this happen at church? It does d!! Years ago in Enoch, Utah at the chapel (old church) during Sacrament Meeting the speaker was at the pulpit when sudden two feet and legs came bursting through the ceiling above the speaker’s head!!! (It was summer, so hot in the chapel, no air conditioning, so the bishop had signaled to one of the deacons to go up in the attic and open some vents to help cool down the building. He stepped off the rafters and came bursting through the ceiling 😂🤣😅.. so it does happen at church!
David, your counsel to Emily is so beautiful. Said you, “Translucent sounds fancier, stick with that.” So wise, so gracious:) And true. Translucent is the correct word: allowing light to pass through but diffusing it so you can’t see distinct images. 42:43
Others faith is truly a miracle for others because I remember exactly where I was standing one time and I could feel prayers and I swear I could see my mother. I was in a really bad way. I didn't change right then but I knew I mattered. And, I've never forgotten that.
Dear David and Emily, I really love Matthew 8:3 Every time I read just the 2 words "I will" I can hear the Savior's voice " I will " it actually always chokes me up. It's like not even one more word or thought do I need to hear from this verse because the love I feel from the Savior is like He's saying it to me " I will ". Can you get it ? So my husband and I served a mission in the Philippines from 2014- 2016. The people there are so sweet and humble. As missionaries the members were constantly trying to help us or accommodate us in any way they could. So for example, if I was about to open a door or open a gate, they'd run ahead of me and say " Sister, I will be the one ". And it just touched me so much. And later on I thought how can I apply " I will be the One ". " I will be the one to serve, I will be the one to pay my tithing, I will be the one to love my neighbor, I will be the one to fulfill my calling " Sorry this is so long, but it just touches me so much. Thanks for all you guys do to bring the spirit while studying Come Follow Me.
Another lesson I love from Jesus touching the leper and healing him is the lesson for all the multitude that saw it. that although the leper was “unloved” and outcast by all of society, he was not unloved or unknown to God and Jesus witnessed that love to that “cast out” in front of multitudes, for all to see. His love has no limits.
Another GEM ... I finally have set up time to study with my daughter Devynne ( Divine) to weekly study with me. Liken to these 4 I didnt give up , kept sharing with her my weekly feelings from how you both teach and m akes these scriptures come alive ... blessings to you both and us all who are learning weekly with this Dont Miss This ...
This week in Come Follow Me in Mark 2:3-12 the man with palsy has been a favourite story of mine since I was little. I remember every time it was my turn to pick a scripture story for my parents to read to us, I would pick that one. I can relate to this man with palsy. When I had shingles in my left ear it caused facial paralysis. I had the faith that I would be healed and I was.
Thank You Emily I really needed to hear the part about my faith being enough to get the help for my through my faith... he has so much doubt right now, he is losing his hope; trapped in Federal penitentiary!!
30:10 when David said that when we follow Jesus we follow him through the storms. that reminded me of presidents nelson's talk overcoming the world and find rest where he talks about that Overcoming the world doesn't mean that our problems will go away and our life will be easier, its actually the opposite. it will be harder but as we continue to use the saviors yoke our restatnce to temptation and sin will increase
I love to think and imagine what the people in the scriptures we read about do and look like. So with the centurion's servant the thought came to me that maybe.... it was the woman who raised him from an infant. Maybe even nursed him as a baby and cared for him as a child into manhood. He loved this person/servant greatly and he knew that Jesus had the power to heal. Most men love their mothers and this servant may have been the women in place of his mother and he loved her as if she was his mother. Thank you David and Emily for bringing the scriptures alive for me where my imagination comes alive.
Thank you for all that you do it has deepened my understanding of the scriptures, helped me to be consistent in reading them daily and ultimately brought me greater peace in my life. On a separate note, I pay the $3.95’but have not seen any email come through.
Carry your corner: Those four friends have become friends with someone who is different. Someone who can't keep up with them, and can't do what they can do. How did they keep the man with palsy in their conversations? But they did, and they brought him to Jesus. So yes! Break through the roof. But first be a friend with someone who is different, who maybe doesn't fit in. Don't leave them behind.
I learned recently that contracting leprosy is not an instant thing, it is contracted due to continual exposure over a long period of time. Therefore is highly likely that this leper had been caring for a loved one himself who had leprosy and contracted it because of his devotion to another.
Could you possibly add the WORD in the description each week please? I don’t always catch it each week, and when I do, it adds so much to my study. Thank You so much
A wonderful, insightful, spiritual lesson!!! Thank you for your time and diligence in teaching all of these wonderful lessons in “Come Follow Me”. I am a visual person and love, love all the visual aids. They are amazing. In our bedroom hangs the poster of Jesus and I love adding the new word a week for Him on it! Thank you, thank you blessed sister and brother. Love you lots! 😘
Christ has always cared about our spiritual healing first. So forgiving the man’s sins first was his spiritual healing, then came the physical healing.
“If you WILL…” This use and function of the word will is an anomaly (often confusing convenience) of the English language. My point of reference is having learned (and taught) Italian. In the phrasing in Matthew, “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.” 1. If it is your will… 2. If you will do it (future tense)… 3. If you want to… I remember watching the ‘80s version of The First Vision in Italian in the MTC. When Joseph says, in English, “…and I will. I will!” The only sentence we understood from our fledgling Italian was “…e lo faró, lo faró!” (and I will do it. I will do it!)
Emily - can you please give us the source for that quote from Elder Holzapfel? (not sure if I heard he name right): God knew that he could put anyone in the path of His Son, and He would stop.”
I would really like the Reuben Clark quote about using your imagination as a scripture study tool. It’s not coming up when I Google?? David mentioned it at start of Centurion
I can't find the minutes comment that used to exist where somebody posted an outline of the video. That was so helpful! Also, could you make a document that lists each name of Jesus for the entire year in order with the scripture reference, so it's all on one place? That would help so much as I use it with my Sunday school class.
Luv u guys. Is there any way to put the week at the front of the title? I have a tough time finding the week I want without playing the video because the date is cut off. Thanks for all your insighfs and luv.
That's a good idea! In the meantime, an option you can do is go to their channel and click the Videos tab. The videos are sorted by most recent at the top, and the whole title is shown :) Another method I use is I go to my own Subscriptions page, and click their channel (it'll show their Don't Miss This icon), which filters out the videos from other channels you are subscribed to and just shows theirs, also in most recent order and showing usually the whole title. This one only works if you're subscribed to them, but it's free to do so
So appreciate your lessons. They are a highlight of my week. Jesus is so awesome. FYI there is no need to walk on screen anymore. We don’t need a picture of the board - your new board makes that unnecessary. ❤❤❤
I’m wondering if there’s any way you could put your Thursday morning get together which you called institute like, on you tube. I take medication and can’t get my brain to function before 12pm. Pleeease. I’m from Canada and have been watching don’t miss this for a couple of years…ever since I found out about it. It’s really helping me do better at my scripture reading. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ❣️🥰
Thank you for your thoughts each week! Where would I find J Reuben Clark's quote? Also, who did you quote that said, "God knew He could put anyone in the path of His Son and He would stop?'
I know someone with Leprosy. It is now called Hansens Disease. He got it on his mission to Samoa. Hansen's disease (also known as leprosy) is an infection caused by slow-growing bacteria called Mycobacterium leprae. It can affect the nerves, skin, eyes, and lining of the nose (nasal mucosa).
Jared and others...can anyone recommend books, lds or not, that are great companion books to the bible/new testament which give helpful translations/interpretations of greek, hebrew, and aramaic words?
Thomas Wayment has done a new translation of the New Testament for LDS readers, with excellent footnotes about word meanings. Available from Deseret Book.
And they transcribe the comments in inklings the comment section there has answered my prayers so many times. It’s such a special place with incredible women.
next to subscribe, thumbs up/down there are three dots. Click on the dots. Transcribe is one of the options. It will show up to the right of the video (using the desktop version).
Thursday mornings at 9am MT on instagram. ❤just search for Inklings. Love studying the most 1:11:42 recent conference messages along with scriptures. ❤️💕💕
2 Nephi 26:29 "He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may GET GAIN, and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion. It's too bad they create master classes to "get gain." What does it mean to "seek not the welfare of Zion?" Are they seeking the welfare of Zion if they charge for their master classes? What about charging for their "extras" for these come follow me's? I'm not sure they're seeking the welfare of Zion, if they were all this would be free. I know they have good intentions, but I think they walk a fine line.
They give out SO much for free and spend so much time on this free YY channel alone (it takes a lot of time to prep, record, edit, etc + buying equipment etc). If they didn’t make money with the extra stuff, they most likely wouldn’t have time to give us all of this value we get to enjoy. Personally I’m more than happy to buy the extras! +You could also say the same with any other job that helps people..
Are they getting gain though? These things cost money to produce. They could just be covering their cost/breaking even and not actually gaining anything! I don't know but just another point of view.

@@JesseClaus No, he doesn't cause them. But he did create storms-and they are powerful. I think he walks with us through our personal storms.
My favorite conferences were when I went to Temple Square and sat in the grass and listened over the speakers. It was wonderful!

What a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing, Debra!
David, your counsel to Emily is so beautiful. Said you, “Translucent sounds fancier, stick with that.”
So wise, so gracious:) And true.
I enjoy the time stamps... I don't see them for this week... I hope the wonderful person that did those still is compiling them...Please!!!
They are in the video description
Thank You Emily I really needed to hear the part about my faith being enough to get the help for my through my faith... he has so much doubt right now, he is losing his hope; trapped in Federal penitentiary!!
30:10 when David said that when we follow Jesus we follow him through the storms. that reminded me of presidents nelson's talk overcoming the world and find rest where he talks about that Overcoming the world doesn't mean that our problems will go away and our life will be easier, its actually the opposite. it will be harder but as we continue to use the saviors yoke our restatnce to temptation and sin will increase
Love you both! Thank you! And thank you Emily for Inklings! We have an amazing group there and here! Blessing my life spiritually.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was exactly what I needed today! ❤️
"Our combined faith will also affect the well-being of others." - Chi Hong (Sam) Wong Nov. 2014 Conference
Thank you for all that you do it has deepened my understanding of the scriptures, helped me to be consistent in reading them daily and ultimately brought me greater peace in my life.
On a separate note, I pay the $3.95’but have not seen any email come through.
Love the segments. It let's me get a moment every day.
Thank you
Elder McConkie talk !!! My favorite!
Love the song, thanks David
I learned recently that contracting leprosy is not an instant thing, it is contracted due to continual exposure over a long period of time. Therefore is highly likely that this leper had been caring for a loved one himself who had leprosy and contracted it because of his devotion to another.
Christopher Patch, where are you? I love your timestamps!!!
Me too!! He is such a blessing!
Love this lesson. Seek to help someone. Thank you very much😍👏
Just over here listening on 1.5 speed 😊
A brothers version of inklings led by Dave and Anthony Sweat
Could you possibly add the WORD in the description each week please? I don’t always catch it each week, and when I do, it adds so much to my study. Thank You so much
I second this! I miss seeing the word of the week so readily!
I felt the same way about Elder McConkie's talk!
I said the same thing in my mind Dave, Up on the house top the reindeer paws, LoL♥️♥️
Me too 😂 I was happy when he vocalized it!
Thanks so much ♥️♥️♥️
U really are great
Love you folks❤
I love Inklings. I love studying together,
What does “approaching the Savior” look like? I’ve never heard of praying to Him but only to our Father.
Oh my gosh me too David! I have to range between 1.5-2.0 speed for my listening studies or my age brain goes all “squirrel” like doug ❤😂😂😂
I love the photo of Jesus touching the leper. It looks like it is from the CHOSEN, my favorite show about Jesus!!
Christ has always cared about our spiritual healing first. So forgiving the man’s sins first was his spiritual healing, then came the physical healing.
Their faith (those 4) = the faith of the Centurion. OTHERS faith!!! My mom’s faith on my behalf!! ❤
Best damn church we have been too…. Hahaha
“If you WILL…” This use and function of the word will is an anomaly (often confusing convenience) of the English language. My point of reference is having learned (and taught) Italian. In the phrasing in Matthew, “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”
1. If it is your will…
2. If you will do it (future tense)…
3. If you want to…
I remember watching the ‘80s version of The First Vision in Italian in the MTC.
Yes, please share the quote.
Can you tell us how to find the "second coming masterclass"? 😁
This one only works if you're subscribed to them, but it's free to do so
That centurion, I think, is Gias in The Chosen. ❤️
Hey David. You know how you do 'who won church'? How about you do 'who won conference' in April? Have the people explain why they chose that talk.
Oh and also the Jesus class you do on Thursdays. How about sharing that on a pod/video cast. Why should YSA only get the benefit of that?
So appreciate your lessons. They are a highlight of my week. Jesus is so awesome. FYI there is no need to walk on screen anymore. We don’t need a picture of the board - your new board makes that unnecessary. ❤❤❤
Please could you share the podcast and Instagram details again for the conference talks on Thursday morning, I would love to join.
I too am interested to know how to find this???
Me too/
I agree not able to find it on Instagram or podcast app. Thank you
I’m wondering if there’s any way you could put your Thursday morning get together which you called institute like, on you tube. I take medication and can’t get my brain to function before 12pm. Pleeease. I’m from Canada and have been watching don’t miss this for a couple of years…ever since I found out about it. It’s really helping me do better at my scripture reading. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ❣️🥰
You can listen to the Inklings Institute podcast. They also have an app where they post everything, including the Thursday morning classes!
The classes are saved on IG so you can listen/watch on your own schedule.
I’m interested in purchasing the getting ready for conference book you showed us in the Matthew 8 near the end of the lesson.
Thank you for your thoughts each week! Where would I find J Reuben Clark's quote? Also, who did you quote that said, "God knew He could put anyone in the path of His Son and He would stop?'
The quote is from Joseph B. Wirthlin. His talk is found in Nov. 2007 Ensign. The great commandment. Its a wonderful talk.
It says the name of the other quote at 24:4Elder Hozofel. ?!??
Where in the app are you listing the the other scripture verses that mention or teach the names of Christ....thank you!!
Don't worry David, I am a 1.5 speed listener too.. hahaha
In the Matthew version of the Centurion servant story look at the footnote! It’s his son not a servant.
Where do we get the ministering worksheet?
They mention the scripture references for “healer” are “in the app”, but where?
Don't spend time with Jesus. Live with Jesus.
Am i missing the Time Stamps?
The podcast is called Inklings With Emily Belle Freeman
Reminds me of matthews friend in the chosen :) (I hate that I can’t remember his name!❤)
How do I find your second coming masterclass? Thank you for all you do to enrich my life.
Same question. Thanks
I also would like to know where?
Following
Jared and others...can anyone recommend books, lds or not, that are great companion books to the bible/new testament which give helpful translations/interpretations of greek, hebrew, and aramaic words?
Jesus the Christ, James E. Talmadge
@@janarampton2967 Thank you so much Jana!!
We use the Strongs Concordance app as well as the Bible Hub website. We also use the NIV and ESV study bible editions to enhance our study.
Thomas Wayment has done a new translation of the New Testament for LDS readers, with excellent footnotes about word meanings. Available from Deseret Book.
@@dixierepublican Thank you Larry!
Is there a pdf download of the booklets? 📖
I love that idea! So even if the hard copies sell out, we can purchase a PDF and print our own :)
I would love to be a part of Inklings, but I am a school teacher PST (plus I don't "do" Instagram 😳). Are there recordings I can watch instead?
They have a podcast where you can listen to them anytime.
They are recorded, but I believe you only find them on instagram. You might want to do Instagram just to follow inklings.
@@baseballhillyeh can you share where that is?
I went to my podcast app on my phone and searched “Inklings” and it came right up.
And they transcribe the comments in inklings the comment section there has answered my prayers so many times. It’s such a special place with incredible women.
Can I access Inklings on RUclips??
No, only on Instagram and through the Inklings Podcast.
For some reason I've stopped getting the newsletter. Not sure how to get signed up again?? Please let me know what to do.
Check your junk folder. Mine sometimes accidently ends up there.
This happened to me. I just re subscribed
❤️
How do I access Inklings?
Where can I get the transcript to follow along
next to subscribe, thumbs up/down there are three dots. Click on the dots. Transcribe is one of the options. It will show up to the right of the video (using the desktop version).
Where abouts in Utah is Bear Lake please????
It's up Logan Canyon. On the Idaho/Utah border.
@@christinewhittle7079 Thank you
Could the servant have been female?
We need an Inklings for men!
Here is another older song that I rediscovered this year for my Easter anthem.

Roman’s considered servants as family.
I want to join inklings!
Me too!
Thursday mornings at 9am MT on instagram. ❤just search for Inklings. Love studying the most 1:11:42 recent conference messages along with scriptures. ❤️💕💕
Do it, it's wonderful!
I have seen Inklings on You Tube.
She talks to
Much about her experiences and doesn't leave a space for self reflection
Please share less and Thanks for doing the podcast
Thank You
