- A quick video showing two trains stopping at Dunellen Station on New Jersey Transit's Raritan Valley Line. The first is led by one of four ex-Amtrak P40DCs on the NJT roster, and the 4802 sounds good accelerating westbound. The second train is being shoved by power more common for the RVL, PL42AC 4009 (Jan. 12, 2013).
Love that GE gearbox growl on the dynamic brake. Good engineer too; came in hot, and left notching straight to 8.
Same!
Wish they still had their P40s. Great video!
Same. I only saw an NJT P40DC once. However thankfully the CTDOT will give them the care they deserve.
@@davidng2336 They do puff a hell lot of fumes though.
@@SpecialKomrade that’s the best part tho!
You can see just how much slower the P40DC accelerates compared to the PL42AC in the second clip. I think that's why NJT got rid of them. They struggled to keep to schedule with longer trains, and they just didn't need them when the ALP-45DP arrived on the scene.
I’ve lived in Florida since 85 but originally from Green Brook so I’m very familiar with the Dunellen area. The Diesel engines, at times, were loud enough to hear them from where I lived.
Excellent Footage!! I was up there in Summer 2011 and it was fun!! I sub'd to you! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Keep up the great work
nice catches and nice shot
Now NJT 4802 is CT Rail 6710
The chug.
i dont know these units yet. are they still in service (also turn down headphones while watching)
Unfortunately they were sold to the Connecticut DOT because they were surplus engines.
Michael Marfil They were slow as shit anyway.
