First time since....the late 60s or early 70s (I think) Japanese women beat China in a big final. Sun definitely looked tired, but some of that was down to her opponent. Some wonderful shots from Miwa Harimoto. The winner at 2-4 in the 4th set was perfection (watch Sun's cheeks as it flies past her). Sugoii ganbatta.

When Miwa lost to a Chinese ‘long pimple’ player ranked 77 in the world at the recent China Smash Tournament, there were actually people on RUclips suggesting that her career was virtually over.
Well more fool them for underestimating a wonderfully talented girl who only turned 16 just before the Paris Olympic Games, and who is now competing on an equal level against the very best Chinese players.
A big congratulations to Miwa, Miu and Mima, for winning the championships for Japan, and all without their No. 1 player Hina Hayata.

Miwa Harimoto improves her game very frequently, just like Felix Lebrun. She did what Mima wasn't able to do against Sun Yingsha 2 times on a week, she had a lot of opportunities to rivalise, but not even strong than before to do it, and not working to be better. Instead of her, Miwa Harimoto improving her game and make grow her mental strength. Sad for Ito for not seeking all possibilities to win, but good thing for Harimoto to give the example to the others.
In the 2022 WTTC, no player other than Tomokazu won from China. On the other hand, Miu Hirano won the women's competition this time in addition to Miwa. Moreover, the team is missing the ace of the Paris Olympics, Hina Hayata. There is a difference in the level of Japanese men and women, excluding Harimoto.
