ABOUT THE SHOW:
Created and hosted by Anthony and Joe Russo, Pizza Film School is a video podcast that demystifies the filmmaking process and spreads some love to the Russo Brothers’ favorite films, filmmakers, and local pizzerias. Class is in session with the Russos as they dive deep behind-the-scenes with some of the industry’s top filmmakers, all while enjoying a slice or two of pizza. An AGBO Production.
Season I focused on the craft of screenwriting, Season II picks up right where we left off, but this time, it’s all about the art of directing. Also new this season, both the pizza tasting and the discussions are recorded in person at the AGBO headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
ABOUT THE EPISODE:
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is available to watch on HBO Max, Apple TV, RUclips, Redbox, Prime Video, Vudu, and Google Play. Zack Snyder is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Since, Snyder has directed a number of comic book and superhero films from 300 to Man of Steel. This episode focuses on Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Snyder’s director’s cut of the 2017 film.
ABOUT AGBO:

When he said "dont compromise" it kind of hit me knowing exactly what he went through and was used by the studio to make him compromise.
rosharch - " NEVER COMPROMISE, EVEN AT THE FACE OF ARMAGEDDON"
I felt he was talking about WB making him cut 30 minutes from BvS, an event that has consequences that resonate to this day.
@@nikgrid "Zack Snyder's Justice League would not exist today if it wasn't for the Batman v Superman Ultimate cut."
@@nikgrid He's also just confirmed the extended BvS made WB 80% of their post cinema sales. So they destroyed the whole universe & didn't even course correct after they saw the BvS Extended sales. Terrible business.
@@jordansmith2461 it's so dumb, they learned nothing, WB is full of morons, I'm rooting for the James Gunn DC, but they fucked up the Snyderverse. Personally think Man of Steel, BvS Ultimate Cut and Zack's JL are one of the best trilogies of all time.
Most Marvel Dc Fans Fighting but the directors are eating pizza with Fun 😊😊
because Snyder did watch marvel movies and Russo did watch dc movies
Most of marvel fans love dc but dc fans are so toxics specially snyder fans
That’s what’s so funny about fandoms
If not for Man of Steel, I wouldn’t have found my purpose as a Hawaiian indie comic creator. Zacks deconstructive style allowed me to see that heroes can be human and have more flaws than redemptive qualities
You're kidding, right? Man of Steel is considered one of the worst because he didn't know who Superman or Clark Kent is?
@@DonoZeek MOS is a great movie 9.5/10 💪🏽
@@AstaIsAMonster yeah. If no one knew who Superman was.
My favorite movie, he went very complex with supes, like the human layers, how the world reacts to it, marvel makes you feel like the humans don’t matter that much, in man of steel it’s like, wow, clark is not perfect, is scared, and cannot show it or flinch and the struggle of that responsibility
@@oathbreaking too bad that's not how Man of Steel showed.
Infinity War, Endgame and Zack Snyder's Justice League are quite possibly the 3 last great comicbook movies that I'll ever see and having these 3 directors talking together in the same room is such a gift for the fans of these movies. (I'm also a fan of Man of Steel, BvS, Winter Soldier and Civil War.... I just love these guys work)
Can’t agree more. I haven’t seen a Marvel Movie since Endgame and ZSJL was so Justified and felt so good to receive as a fan.
Agree
no way home has to be here, but yes I agree with all your choices! MoS is my fav of all time
The best of the best
That WE'LL ever see. As comic book fans.
Oh Zack Snyder.. such a cool guy. I hope Rebel Moon will be as good, visionary, mythological and philosophical as most of his film have been. It's always fun to hear the cast feeling a Sense of wonder whenever they're on the set with Zack Snyder.
the good news about rebel moon is one of the writer wrote 300 script. the bad news is another director wrote b-movie and another writer wrote army of the dead. there's 3 writer for rebel moon
@@boboboy8189 Well..for a film with such scale and length I feel like that's okay. The writer for army of the dead also wrote John Wick Parabellum and John wick 4 too n kinda felt pretty okay. I think it's in safe hands. Unless something happens behind the scenes that would drift the vision as deserved.
The concept art is fucking sick for that movie
It sounds like he's not giving up on his vision for DC either. I honestly don't give a fuck if ppl didn't want to see the end of it. I did, I'm open to new ideas and interpretations, I wanted to wait for the ending before u judged his take on batman and superman.
Gotta say, it’s really cool seeing Snyder get so much respect
It's overdue
The Bros just said "they watched 300 and for months was like how did he do that" ?? Zack is the GOAT 🐐. Baaaaaaaa!!
The fact that snyder thinks like a painter is so intriguing and artistic 🤘🏼
It was his first passion.

That's amazing to think
Zack says he doesn't write comedy well, but from what I’m watching, he does. It's organic and in line with the context of the existing scene. It’s not just about hitting someone's head with a hammer out of nowhere
Well said. Exactly. Too many films, especially CBMs have jokes flying every five minutes or scenes revolving around gags. Alot of it is not done well and it ends up feeling forced. It's much better when there us humor in a film and it's organic then it feels sincere. There's a difference between humor in a film, and it just becoming a comedy, and alot of CBMs are just a new spin on action comedy blockbusters
Zack revealing that he hardly ever needed to do reshoots is mind-boggling. It only proves how much of a visionary director he is, where he shoots everything he needs during principal photography!
His method of storyboarding everything out likely contributes to that a great deal. Other directors might realise they need certain small scenes or links only while shooting whereas Zack has nearly every shot visualised prior to shooting.
Bros behaving like his fanboys is just awesome man
As an aspiring director of superhero movies, I'd love to pick Zack's brain and observe him on set. A true master of his craft
Wish you luck man
All the best for ur dreams!!
Loved hearing these guys talk!
Between them they have provided the 2 best comic book movies I have seen!
ZSJL and CA: The Winter Soldier!
PREACH!!!
You need to watch WATCHMEN Ultimate Cut.
It's Zack's Magnum Opus.
@@Sefaso The studio put together the Ultimate Cut and added Tales of the Black Freighter. Watchmen: Director's Cut is Zack's movie. Zack always intended TBF to be separate.
@@Sefaso oh yes, enjoyed it very much! It’s in a league of its own!
@@Sefaso that’s zacks best movie imo.
Feeling Zacktivated. 💯
Eggzackly
i’m gonna zack off to this video ❤
Zack Snyder is so awesome and the man delivered! His JL truly was a million times better than that horrible theatrical version!
That scene where Barry travels back in time, a culmination of Zack directing, vibe of the movie leading up to it, the music, everything hit perfectly. That’s the one thing I wanted to hear from Zack lol and to ask if that scene was exactly or close to what he wanted for it. Cuz it was so fucking moving, chills on the arm.
That scene gets no love 😞
You're not alone, that scene was voted the 2022 Oscars cheer moment. It reminded me of the scene where Clark destroys the world engine in Man of Steel. Both still gives me the chills today.
@@abdoul5176 ;( so true
Man, these episodes went fast. I could listen for many more hours to these three talking about movie making. Thank you, Russo brothers for having Snyder as guest!
Infinity Saga of the MCU and the Snyderverse of DCEU. ♥️✨
Fuck Snyder vers. Infinity saga is masterpiece.
If a person has a superior visual memory and attention to detail, he is more likely to be a good director. Zack Snyder has both❤
This was a treat to watch. 3 knights at the round table talking about their craft. Even more excited for Rebel Moon. I hope he gets to finish his DC arc. Waiting for April 28 🤞
"Don't compromise" made me emotional! Thank you for being a trailblazer Zack!
Can you guys get Christopher Nolan for an interview he is my favourite director, and I would like to thank you all cause I'm learning a lot through this series of videos I appreciate you
Agreed
They should turn on a large fan while Nolan speaks
@@mikepatton7577 😁 I see what you did there. 👌Still, I love Nolan.
@@roguedravidan2746 Me too :)
lol 26:54 "Are we really gonna show him walk all the way over there?" Zack is a funny guy, lol!
Zack is the man and I have a new found respect for the Russos after this. They have a cool energy
This is the Marvel/DC crossover we never knew we needed!
Part II LET’S GOOO!!!
Thank you Russo’s for doing this. Love you Zack! Best director out there!!
Feeling Zacktivated again!
Feeling Zacktivated again! x 2
This was Epically badass.
Amazing crossover with the three best and badass Directors+ of this Era.
Zach is such ahead of the game engaging in the fans want to see the Snyder verse return! #Restorethesnyderverse
Hearing zack talk about how he likes dark mythology makes me want to see him make a berserk film for Netflix
Honestly that would be amazing. Make it a series of films.
@@masterxII7 or a live action Berserk series by Snyder x Mike Flanagan (if he wants to work with Netflix) and Guillermo del Toro
I can watch you guys talk to each other whole day
This whole thing has been so wholesome. 3 people who are skilled filmmakers taking about the craft with the utmost respect for each other.
Thank You to everyone involved in this, it was a nice a interview , and getting to know more about Zack and his process is always a pleasure.
We need more of this kind of content. The first episode was awesome!
I love hearing about their processes when working with actors, also hope to see Oscar Isaac working with zack again!
Agree 100%
This was honestly so wholesome. Three incredible filmmakers appreciating each other’s work, wow! We need more of theses Russos 👏🏾
This came out right as I completed part 1, perfect timing. Great content all around, love Zack and the Russos.
My favorite director Zack Snyder!
Feeling #Zacktivated
Cant wait for Rebel Moon ❤❤❤
After I saw the Snydercut of JL, the first thing I said was that this film was our generation's Excalibur.
The fact that Excalibur is one of his favorite films made me smile.
Great minds!
From what i know about Zack, Excalibur is THE favorite movie for Zack
It's the movie Bruce sees the night his parents die in BvS.
BVS Ultimate edition is my fav film
Haha I wish they would work on some movies one day. I want to see them together. Zack is such a funny and creative director. And love his thought process and the way he talks and explains and keep it cool.
Zack really is the main character
FRRRR
Damn right he is
So hyped for Rebel Moon
Zack Snyder is one of the best, the artistic taste the guy has is insane. I can’t believe I got to see these 3 sit down and chat 🙌😭
'Rebel Moon' is going to revolutionize moviemaking as we know it.
one of my fav directors ever
Such a valuable and insightful discussion between three brilliant creative minds. Thank you, Russo's, for this in-depth and candid conversation with Zack. I could listen to you all talk for hours more!
U see the mutual respect they have for each other, they recognise each other as Masters of their craft and try to learn from each other. That's so beautiful.
And yet we have the two fandoms beefing each other so hard, it's despicable.
These guys basically represent the Old MCU vs DCEU, yet there's no rivalry between them. The fandoms should learn from them.
I'd love to see all three plus James Gunn collaborate. I wouldn't be surprised if they could produce some interesting stuff.
And I'm not just throwing Gunn for no reason, he worked with Snyder on Dawn Of The Dead and it's still one of my favorite Zombie movie.
They work well together, and seeing the mutual respect they have with the Russos, it could work even better.
Cheers from France! 🍻
When they're all geeking out in the end. Love that!
This has been so much fun to watch, I love seeing Zack and Joe dork out on Excalibur lol awesome interview! 🙌
This was great, you can see Zack’s passion for movie making. A big TY Russo brothers for bringing this to us. You guys are also great and can’t wait to see what u guys have in the pipeline
Russos and Snyder is the one that can elevate CBM movie so it won't be just a theme park movie
Zack Snyder king of directors cut !!
Zack is my favourite director
zack is 1000% correct his directors cuts are always better and id recommend everyone to watch them over the theatrical cut its not always true for most movies but for his you can see and feel the difference
Zack Snyder should direct Resident Evil 1 movie. He’s done 2 of the best zombie movies
Really great conversation! Can’t wait to see Rebel Moon
This was pure gold
❤️ Zack movies and thank you Russo’s for this amazing interview between you 3. 🙌🏽
I loved it so much that I really want these three genius to work on something together. Always feels excited to know what's inside the Zack's mind
I was reminded that James Gunn worked with Zack on Dawn Of The Dead.
I think it would be a good idea for WB to bring back Zack and have him work in tandem with James. I think the two could bring us some amazing stuff.
Then you could add the Russos, and maybe Marcus and McFeely (the latter being often dismissed even though they're a big factor in the success of the 4 MCU/Russo movies) and see what they come up with.
They all seem to have at least some respect for the source material and the fanbase, hence why they're part of such beloved movies. Not all are mega hits of course, but I'd argue they all stand above the bulk of comic book movies we've got in the modern era.
Cheers from France! 🍻
Love you Zack ,from Thailand ❤️🇹🇭
#RestoreTheSnyderVerse
Zack is the GOAT! 🔥🔥
Love these conversations! And how the brothers kinda check out while the other is talking. 😂 “I hear this guy talk all day. Taking a break.”
Waiting for rebel moon trilogy.
Excepting to see some new talent filmmakers in this pizza film school
Zack snyder is making movies in a very simple time, his style is not acceptable with such a simple generation, he wants to have a tone but the companies only think about being like everything else, that's why the cinema no longer distinguishes like before.
Imagine these 3 making a movie together 🤯
MCU vs DC
@@videosonweels8975 👏 true
It's so refreshing to see people wanting zack Snyder to talk about things other than the whole controversy with wb
I think it's something fellow directions understand best
Amazing 2 parter podcast
Kudos to the russo brothers
Dude is literally a genius.
Let's do this #FullCircle
Amagazing interview. Awelsome. Tnks so much for all Zack Snyder
As a movie buff, it was an enormous treat watching these influential directors talk about their trade and the process of making such great films.
This was absolutely fantastic! Thank you, Russo brosthers.
Man this has made me so pumped for Rebel Moon! Zack is the best guest
I still think that not showing the directors cut at the premier was the worst move the studio called for.
I could listen to these three talk for hours. Such great and insightful conversations!
I really wanted to see darkseid in live action but yeah...WB did it's thing
I have been eagerly waiting for Zack's commentary on ZSJL, like how they shot the scenes or alternate ideas etc. Some day we may get that watch along.
SnyderCon,next Sunday. It will be on Vero
@@joemish4540 I remember Zack saying that it might not happen as the movie is long and they need to clear the IMAX immediately afterwards. Let's see.
I can't even imagine the quality of a project these three work on, together, in a team... Jesus...
And people wonder why we are such huge fans of Snyders work so the next time they troll say bitch please and send em to this great 2 part interview

Love this, y’all are amazing. I really love everything Zack’s done and having him talk in depth to you (two of my other favorite directors)on the less spoken about aspects of film making and his experiences is just wonderful!🎉💚
