I’ve had the PC in my 2021 4Runner for several months now and really like it. I believe mine is also set on city +2 which is about perfect for my driving style. I’ve never had a code or check engine light appear. It doesn’t increase the horse power like some of the chips do, so if I’m running 65 on the highway and want to pass someone I notice absolutely zero difference but I’m pretty mild on the highway anyway. Everyday driving around town is where I love this gizmo. From the way a mechanic buddy of mine describes it, the plenum opens at a rate controlled by the computer. So even if you stomp the pedal to the floor the plenum opens at a controlled rate limiting your acceleration. The Pedal Commander allows you to control how fast the plenum opens which lets me tune acceleration to fit my driving style around town. It makes my 4Runner feel more snappy. He had a lot more technical stuff about how it works but I would just butcher it. Bottom line… around town especially from a dead stop - huge difference. Highway - not so much.
Awesome Video! Well-detailed installation, one of the best ones yet! The Pedal Commander comes with a bracket attached, so if you don't want to un-velcro it each time, you can just remove it from the bracket and then click it back in. Also, the (+4) is the slowest for the ECO mode. Since ECO mode decreases your response, the (+) makes it more of a decrease while the (-) will lessen the decrease. ( I hope that makes sense)!
I just installed my pedal commander. Easy very good video. The clip on the throttle pedal is a little difficult to get off because one can't see exact where the tab is you need to push to get off. However, once off.... super easy install. The performance is great. No it doesn't give more power, but the power I have is available more quickly.
In my city, there are many different freeways and many, many stoplights. When I first purchased the PC for my 21 Limited, I bought it as a gas saver because it had the ECO mode and there is just so much stop and go where I live. I had on ECO -4 and it was too slow. I went up to ECO +4 (which after reading some other comments, isn't what it's thought of to be) it was just below the "just below just right" that I was aiming for. As for gas consumption, I was only getting 12 mpg on ECO -4 and 12.2 mpg on ECO +4 and both driving modes were too slow for the Teslas stuff around here. I tried City +3 as I saw worked out in other videos, but it was too zippy for stop and go. I finally settled on City 0 and it's just right. I also watch how I step on the pedal to make sure that the "ECO" light is on while I'm driving because supposedly that saves gas. On average with the City 0 setting, I get anywhere between 13.7-14.6mpg I did a trip to Las Vegas and kept it on ECO +4 and got almost 400 miles on 1 full tank! The point of all this is, if you're using the PC to save gas as I have/did/am, it actually all depends on how you drive. If you are an angry driver and love to smash the pedal, you will see a significant change in your mpg and visits to the gas station if you were doing that on City +3. Just heed your own driving style and find one that is slightly under perfect and you'll get a great balance of speed and economy.
@@joseperezpaz9986 So far about 10 percent increase. Went from 17mpg to 18.5mpg at the moment. Usually drive in the city with some high way driving here and there.
I like how you say it's just a V6 I grew up with the original 1976 Toyota pick up in Southern California in 1976 and it all it was was a 4 cylinder and we were happy
20r and 22r were bulletproof with basic maintenance. If you needed more zoom, on a carburated model just add ITB's and gas. If you were efi, just go down the LC Engineering catalog
Great video. I have a 2021 4runner. While out shopping a gentleman stopped and said that i needed to get a pedal commander. First thing out of his mouth. That caught me by surprise. But that might be just the way the 4runner community is. I think i will be grabbing one soon.
Did you happen to evaluate how this affects cruise control? I'd be especially interested in whether eco mode tames the aggressiveness of the cruise control on an uphill stretch.
Your 4Runner looks sweet! What is the brand and size of your wheels and tires? I just bought a 2021 Black SR5 and want to upgrade my wheels and tires. Thanks!
Thanks for posting the video. I have a 2019 4Runner and have ccnsidered getting a Pedal Commander but have been on the fence on whether I wanted to spend the money. Installation looks like a breeze.
Love the pedal commander in my 4R but the velcro adhesive seemed like crap.... i kept finding it dangling ( its hot in Lubbock ) so i used some double sided mounting tape from the Gorilla company , seemed to be a good fix. in case anyone has the same problem.
I've been on the fence about this but I think I'm going to go for it. Have you noticed any change in your gas mileage with this installed? Just curious.
This will depend entirely on driving habits. The stock throttle profile mitigates bad habits by limiting the amount of go the engine will give you unless you really step on it. If you mash the pedal without the pedal commander, your gas mileage will probably stay about the same. If you don't launch and floor it for overtakes, it may get just a bit worse due to the lower end of the pedal commander profile. Most responsible, good drivers, however, will probably see either a break even or a slight deterioration in mileage due to the removal of toyota's mitigation to smooth out fuel economy.
@@michaelkoryofficial I ended up selling my PC. The SB is a much more elegant design in a much smaller footprint. The company that makes the PC, makes a big deal about their packaging. The SB just talks about performance. There's a great video comparing the two that clearly shows the differences in throttle response.

City +2 is the right combination for the 4runner, I’ve been using it for 2 years, totally worth it!
Have you still using it? And how was it, didn’t give any code or check engine light?

Thanks for watching! That makes a lot of sense. I was confused as to how Eco mode worked with the numbers. Thanks!
first person I've seen clarify this, thank you.
Great video, everything we needed to see in under 10 minutes. Well done!

Do you need to power on the pedal commander each time you start the vehicle, or does it power on and remain in its last mode?

Yes you have to use a better quality double sided foam tape
@michaelkoryofficial this is a great video and informative! What’s your opinion on the pedal commander vs a ECU tune?? Thanks
Fantastic
Would be nice to see how much gas you can actually save in eco mode.
Your vehicle is already set to "eco mode." Pedal Commander's "eco mode" doesn't do a thing. It's a useless marketing point.
its a truck
