Sargeras wasn’t hiding in the clouds- he was the clouds. He lost his physical form at some point (forgot when) so he surrounded azeroth while you fight argus.
The pantheon restored his physical form to seal him away, which is why it looked like he emerged from the clouds.
(This is what makes sense anyways)

If you watch after he gets pulled away, it seems like he actually is the clouds. You can see parts of his body as clouds still.

thats because he was the clouds. he was in that form, and we were SO CLOSE to losing because he was those clouds for so long. not to mention, in the raid if you look at the clouds, while fighting argus, you can see the clouds growing.
he is the cloud indeed. from my understanding titans are made of a cloud like substance held together by arcane magic, which they can manipulate and shape as the please. they also have the ability to transfer their conciouness into avatars.
The cloud is obviously a disguise like how Medivh uses a Ravenform.
Faster to trvel in space. But also less intimidating when talking to races like the Draenei to recruit them.
Why he was a cloud NOW? And didnt stab the titans while they were still weak and the Heros were busy fighting Argus?

I still like how we didnt kill Sargeras brcause how in the hell do we defeat someone THAT powerful? At this point in lore at lesst.

Have to say the best part of the cinematic for me personally was Velen's sigh of relief. The Legion's gone, the threat that chased him and the Draenei across the stars, devastating numerous worlds. I mean I know he's only a character but I can't imagine how relieved he must be with Sargeras locked up.

I also liked the ending music. It makes you feel all hopeful and stuff b/c you just defeated the baddest dude in the universe, but then the music gets dark and fear grips you as you see the sword Sargeras had plunged into Azeroth. That detail made the cinematic beautiful.

I love the fact that the players never got to see Sargeras in person and in-game through out the WHOLE series up until this moment.
It was always just a silouethe, a mere avatar or his mysterious, disembodied, booming and threatening voice emmanating from somewhere or somethign unknown. A looming prescence of evil.
It is only now, at his moment of defeat, where we get to see him in his full, and intimidating majesty as he delivers one final parting shot to our world as he is dragged kicking and screaming into his eternal prison.
I love how Velen says "Fate was never in our races hand", which shows that even the prophet velen learned from Illidan, to not trust in prophecies, the light, and etc always.
Kil'Jaden had a ton of orange clouds in a Frozen Throne cinematic, and the titans' beam seemed to suck what he was into disintegration.

I'd say Broxigar probably did the equivalent of a paper cut. A paper cut that drew blood, maybe something a little deeper.

Sargeras grew to tiny tiny to walk through the portal and the true damage ( insignificant as it was) was done my the magic of Azeroth that Cenarius infused the Axe with not the strike of a mere mortal...
Well, the book says that Sargeras IMPALED Broxigar with his sword, so the sword was big enough to actually impale and not just stab and Sargeras was in a size that would let him handle said sword.

Illidan saying "At last" when he sees Sargeras on the throne fills me with a bit of dread. It is not the voice of someone resigned to a noble fate, but of someone who's nefarious plans have at long last come to fruition. He's got all the titans in a state of weakness and is fully capable of absorbing fel energy to empower himself and has all the time imaginable with this huge battery sitting immobile right in front of him. Illidan was said to be the child of light and shadow that could save or destroy the universe, and we all can't forget his most famous title: The Betrayer.
Not going to lie I enjoy this theory. A lot. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Inb4 future expansion: Wrath of the Corrupted Jailors of Immortal Evil Beings, featuring Illidan and Bolvar forming together into the Fel Lich King.

I'm not saying it's not possible or Canon because of the size changing and avatars, I'm just saying that it's not likely to reference or anything because that was back before the titans were so big and we thought they were about the size of avatars are now.
Pretty sure that when Sargeras is hanging out in Antorus, on his "burning throne", he wasn't as big as in this cinematic, otherwise how could he even move in there?
He can most likely shift into the same size as every other titan we encounter in the raid.
In this cinematic, his huge-ness is exceptionnal, I'd say. When Broxigar wounded him, I guess he was the same size as, say, Aggramar. Still tall as a building, though.

I wonder if they will implement a location where you see his hand print as he was leaning against azeroth with his left hand as he stabbed it.. at least that shouldve caused some sort of massive Tsunami or something but I was quite suprised that there didn't seem to be any sort of repercussions except for his sword being stabbed into azeroth. No environmental reaction to it... seems kinda off to me. Other than that it was a great cinematic of course :)

I'm not bitchin about anything. I was simply saying that It wouldve made sense to showcase a little more of a disastrous scene in Silithus around the sword as he seemingly stabbed it into the planet only moments earlier. I'm not saying I need another Cataclysm like revamp for every zone. I know Silithus will be affected and look different. I was only referring to the Cinematic and how they showed it there.
Regarding the handprint I just think that would make sense to have it somewhere on Azeroth.

You can criticize how the sword changes size. At first the hilt basically reaches thousands of miles out into space, and then later it doesn't look as if it leaves the atmosphere.

But If Sargeras is to be able to win he would need to somehow rebuild Gorshalach into a loyal Fel-Gorshalach that will never shatter itself then he'll be stronger and more powerful than he ever was.

What I gathered was Sargaras IS the clouds. The concept of smoke being less dense than his solid form making it easier to travel and cover the world. It gave me a very Supernatural feeling
To me personally, the coolest scene of this cinematic is, when Sargeras sits in his chair, eyes glowing, fully in shadow. (5:04) So cool :)

I think the clouds are almost a type of metaphor. Sargeras has wrapped himself in deception for so long that it has become a fog of cloud that surrounds him, hiding him and masking his true nature. The other Titans were able to pierce that fog and call him forth to face them all. He is told his crusade is over and he is teleported elsewhere to stand punishment for his crimes against Creation and the Universe.I think the blade he plunges into Azeroth may also be a metaphor for the warfare that is about to engulf all of Azeroth as well as being an item of consummate destruction that is causing immeasurable suffering for Azeroth's titan soul.
Best Part:"Oooh! Futurama!" ...But damn Sargeras son.

I like the little smile Velen and Illidan exchange after the comment about Fate. In that moment, they understood each other.
[spoilers from the raid] The normal size of the titans are those you see in the seat of the pantheo, the size of argus and the one sargeras become when they pull him back to his chair. Probably when Broxxigar wounded him, he was at the normal size. To become that monster size (like he was in that chronicle image) he needs to use a lot of his powers and it require some time. The clouds was him gaining form to slice azeroth in half, but that's when we interrupted him mid way using Argus' energies (that's why you can't see his legs).
Why are the crystals from Velens staff go?
Keith Travis it's one of the crystals that you use to empower the Vindicaar.
The crystal in his staff was part of the Crown of Argus. Along with two others who belonged to Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde, back when they were normal.

I just wanna give some cred to the music guys. Like Holy! The music att the end. This very Epic and fullfilling song when Velen sighs of relief and then flying through the clouds. Then... just doom when the sword is shown! Goosebumps. Just wow.
I can't wait to see how Nixxiom and Moocluck will experience this cinematic...

It made sense, that we haven't fought Sargeras ourselves, only the mighty titans can fight him. I am happy they finished this stroy like this.

That's the Legion for you. One of the Lieutenants had a hard on for giant Trees. The leader tries to hump worlds. At least he tried to do so in private. But when he was caught he just frantically stuck his big sword into Azeroth's sandy ass (Silithus). One has to wonder why that location specifically; if I recall correctly, the remnants of the Black Empire (or the Silithid/Aqiri, at least) were focused in Silithus, waiting for the day the Old Gods / Black Empire Generals call them to action.

Need a cinematic of Illidan and the Titans curb stomping Sargeras
I do like that they maintain Brox’s legacy(barring anything that may happen in mythic), and yeah in The Sundering it’s made clear that the wound itself is insignificant, it’s more about the fact Brox was able to cause ANY kind of damage at all. (Also Archimonde was known to change his size with magic, there’s no reason to assume Sargeras was at his true size when killing Brox. It’s easier to crush a cockroach than a flea.)

When Sargeras plants his blade into Silithus, look at his left hand, it's planted somewhere on Azeroth. And if we take geography into account it'll be somewhere either on the other side of Azeroth or somewhere in between. Do you think we'll at some point find a continent in the shape of his handprint? Sargeras wasn't hiding, the Titans are described as cloud like beings in Warcraft lore, taking physical form whenever needed. Just a quick trivia
Illidan has basically become Sargaras' jailor at the Seat of the Pantheon. Also, Sargaras was travelling to Azeroth in that "cloud" (was just him in non-physical 'space travel'form basically) and I suppose gathering his strength too for the killing blow to Azeroth (he was going to slice the world open and kill the world soul).
Overall this was a great ending to Legion!
I imagine the Old Gods locked away into the depths of Azeroth being the only ones having the ability to see this massive creep humping the planet as he stares at them while playing with he's huge sword. If I were the Old Ones I'd hide myselfs in the depths as well xD

I remember that some earthen lore states that Titans are moving star clouds.So i guess Sargeras was in that cloud form and pantheon forced his physical form to manifest
