Great clear video! Two suggestions for those interested. 1) pressure wash everything prior to opening a toolbox for wrenches. 2). purchase, borrow, or rent a torque multiplier and use the prescribed values on reassembly. You've seen what improper torque does for the rod nuts. It could have been catastrophic had the nut spun off entirely!

Those snap rings can be tough! Glad to see you're making videos again. We love hydraulic repair!

I seem to have issues with these larger ones. I should probably invest in a set of good snap ring pliers...

It takes alot of time to do the long videos. There's alot of stuff I haven't been recording.

@@AndyFromm I get it! My daughter said you’re handy you should do videos like the men you watch. I tried and realized I don’t have the patience for cinematography and fixing my stuff. It takes a lot of concentration (from me) and composing a shot for RUclips doesn’t work well with me. But I’m happy to see you make it work.

I have the 1968 580CK and I am sure I will be doing this soon enough. One thing I do not see much of on YT is how to deal with varying levels of rust on the cylinder rods. I have the spotty pitting rust on the boom and dipper cylinder rods. Much knowledge on that subject? Subbed for sure, this is good stuff.

Might go along time and leak a little or it might tear up the seals. It would be best to replace the rod if its bad.
      Thanks 👍

@@AndyFromm Thanks for getting back to me. Just a ball park figure on the replacement of the rod. i would do all the dismantling and reassembly. So just the rods?

@@michaelkennedy2528 i just looked up one of the rods on case's website, somewhere around $500 for the rod. If its not terrible, I'd probably take my chances with a seal kit
