I was half worried one of them would step on her and half laughing from her chasing them around because she thought they were playing.

I always wondered if the attacker's adrenaline would also rise to match...for those who couldn't get away it makes sense.

@@megankruger688 adrenaline makes your hands shake, your legs wobbly and gives you tunnel vision. An adrenaline rush is something you have to overcome. Most people freeze for about 20 seconds when it kicks in. Think about a jump scare prank, that's what adrenaline does to people.

The one with the knife is a legit move and I learned it in Jiu Jitsu training (we did some weapon lessons whenever there weren't many people showing up for training) Though our number one rule was.. if you're ever being threatened by someone with a knife.. Run, try to get away. If you have zero options of escape you can try these techniques.
As someone who is a first degree black belt, and does Gracie jiujitsu, most of these are correct and do actually work
One thing is that Rachel's taller than an average woman, and probably has a higher center of gravity.

I love how Girlfriend went from "filming self-defense tactics" to "ooh, look at Little Dog being adorable!"... I was half expecting her to drop to the ground laughing and we'd see a sideways rendition of everything. :D
The leg does work but unfortunately you have to rip his leg like your throwing it past his head. Sometimes it's hard doing it with someone who's not actually hurting you. Because when it's really happening it's life or death & your not going to be gentle with person attacking you

I’m a 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo and something I recommend is to practice doing these things routinely until they become part of your muscle memory.

Great job! That last one dose work and if you really like those Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Women Empowered ones their headquarters is in California! And many other Gracie training centers all over the world. I think you would really enjoy it and many people find it to be something they wish they had many years previous in their lives.

A lot of these “breakaway” techniques rely, to some extent on the element of surprise. Often just the fact that you do something will help.
If you are serious about these you need to keep practicing.

feedback from a black belt, a likely reason as to why the third one didn't workout for rachel is that she didn't life her arms with explosive energy to execute the throw, also note that some self defenses are more effective depending on not just size, but height as well
