- Ahoy there. We are Kathi & Max from Austria and we have a beautiful, classic #sailboat that due to its age now needs a few upgrades. On top of our to-do list is the installation of new #sailinginstruments for wind, depth and speed. In this video we start the big project with the #unboxing of our new B&G® sailing instruments and explain how the Triton² multifunction display will improve navigating MAKANI through the Med next season. SHINY-FANCY-NEW-STUFF!
Thanks for watching and welcome on board.

Like the title suggests, we are unboxing fancy things in this episode! Enjoy the video. 😊
Very nice instruments. These things grow ... you buy one display then think how useful a second display would be, then a small chartplotter, then a larger plotter ... before you know, your have instruments everywhere! Really nice.
Thanks for sharing.
So true! The possibilities and dreams (!) are endless! 😂👍 But until we install more, we are so excited to try out the new setup. It'll make a big difference to have fully functional instruments. 😊
Like a pair of kids on Christmas morning!
Haha! Yes. Once you own a boat , you get excited about the strangest things. 😆
Based on the fact that items were removed from boxes I would say that this unboxing went very well, any unboxing where this does not happen falls somewhat flat. Good job.😍😆
Well thank you, Mike. A successful unboxing indeed! 😉 Something to be proud of! 😂
@@SailingMAKANI Indeed, yes, as they go it was very much one of the better ones of 2020. Possibly award-worthy.😁🤣
😂 Hear! Hear!
Good luck with the install. You guys are so cute!
Thanks, Dan. We try! 😜
Good luck with the installation, remember: measure twice and cut once. Cheers, Richard
😂👍 Thanks for the tip, Richard! Always appreciated.
Hello guys, really nice video. :-) One question, did you have AIS, and if yes how is the configuration? Thanks
Hi there, we don't have AIS but we plan to get it with the next bigger refit. We think that the configuration should not be too difficult. As far as we know, you can even display AIS on the small B&G multifunction display and you apparently don't need to have a chart plotter. If we decide to install AIS, we will make sure it matches the NMEA 2000 data-bus configuration and then it'll be just plugged into the backbone.
And this is why we love Santa Claus 👍👍
😂😂😂 Totally!
you have just bought all the B&G interments I need. My new boat (Hallberg Rassy 1990) has a new B&G wind instrument so i want the rest the same. all to connect to a backbone and so it can talk to each other. £££££££££ let us know on youtube how you get on. xx
Dear Paul, once all the devices talk to each other, you'll notice a big difference. And yes, it's a big investment, but we can assure you that this is money well spent!
We're documenting every step of the installation and you can find the SAILBOAT REFIT series here on our RUclips channel. Enjoy! 😊👍

For Christmas UNBOXING DAY?
This is how we boat-people celebrate our holidays! 🥳
@@SailingMAKANI Sorry...I thought you might have known about BOXING DAY.
So...play on words was missed.
Boxing Day is a bank holiday or public holiday that became official in 1871. The name is a reference to charity drives. A box to collect money for the poor traditionally and placed in Churches on Christmas day and opened the next day, or Boxing Day.
Heard the term before, but yes, play on words was indeed missed! 😂 Thank you for clearing it up! 👍
