There’s also the ADN to FNP route that several schools offer. I know MHPCS and University of Texas Arlington both offer this online. MHPCS offers a three year program if you are a RN. One year of BSN work and two years of FNP work. Arlington is a 3 1/2 year program, 1 /2 years of BSN work and 2 years of FNP work.
While you could just get your BSN first, these programs give you the security of already being admitted to a FNP program as long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Great video as always. I'm currently in LVN school and also hold a non-Nursing Bachelor's degree. My plan was to go the direct entry level MSN route after graduating from LVN school next year, but after this info, I'll go the direct entry DNP route while I gain experience working as a nurse. I always thought it was a bit odd that all you need for medical school are the prerequisites (some schools require some shadow/volunteer experience), but to become a DNP you had to go through so many hoops. Glad to know that's no longer the case.

Thank you for your wonderful video! I wanna ask you a few questions if you don't mind me asking.
    1. Do I need to get a BSN degree to work as a nurse (either RN or NP) though I have an MSN/DNP degree? I mean, is it recommended? I'm wondering if it is common and okay to work as a nurse without a BSN degree when I have an MSN/DNP.
    2. Is there any chance that I can apply for the direct entry MSN/DNP program when I already graduated but haven't finished the prerequisite courses? I wonder if I can finish the prerequisite courses in a community college and then apply for the program.
    3. Do I have to choose the specialty when I start the direct entry MSN/DNP program?

If you already have a bachelor’s in something else, accelerated BSN programs are an option. You can start nursing in about 1-1.5 years and, you’ll have an income to pay to further your education if taking out a massive amount of loans is not something you want. Current nurses will tell you how important experience is before becoming a practitioner.

See these seem so long to me.. I ended up taking a break from school when I was younger and then had my son so now I’m back trying to get to my goal but I’m not trying to be 40 by the time I get there lol. From what I’ve been told I’m in this ADN program where if I continue with my 4.0 GPA and pass my exam I can go into this program CEP where pretty much I get my BSN in one semester So essentially I would get my ADN and BSN at the same time. And my program is only 12-16 months long and adding the BSN it adds 3 months on so for me I would have graduated in a year but I will be adding the BSN so 15 months all together with my BSN. I have been talking to the school where I’ll be getting my MSN specializing in pediatric nurse practitioner it’s 18months long and I have the option of either taking the extra courses for my DNP at the same time or I can sit for the NP boards and then take my DNP courses and that would take 6 months so all together it’s like 4-5 years instead of the 9-10 years most people talk about

Are you talking about a nurse that does cosmetic procedures? You don’t need a master’s for that. You can do that with a bachelor

The title should say how to scare away a person interested in becoming a nurse practitioner .

ADN takes 3-4 years, 1-2 years for prereqs, 2 years for actual RN courses.

This was a really helpful video when I was deciding to start my NP program. I did a video myself about the classes in my curriculum (ruclips.net/video/nUPr2jr_SXM/видео.html) and I was wondering how much different your psych classes were from the core NP classes?

Good video but pretty lengthy sponsorship, try to keep it as sweet and concise as possible. I found it interesting but also found myself wanting to skip ahead. Otherwise helpful video 👌

If I were a patient, would I want to be cared for by someone who did the direct entry, got their DNP as fast as possible, then never had to go to school again?

Don't be fooled the dnp program is one of the toughest programs as it's a 3 year program cramped into two so it's more stress but in a short time you are done if you are able to sail through..Any nurse who made it into nursing school went through blood and tears to become an rn ..to even get into the basic rn program is worth emulating ..
