I spent the whole day trying to kill him, or by helping as a summon, and I haven't beaten him yet. Are you telling me it can be done in 4 minutes if I run naked with two swords?

Perfect reaction time and a perfect memory of his moves. It took me 2 hours of bashing my head against a wall with him until I got lucky and finally got him. And it was definitely luck because I dont think my last attempt was much better then my first lol.

I beat him in 3 minutes with Hornsent after getting practice by helping other people in their worlds. I probably entered this boss room over 100 times😭 Doing this with no hit is so insane

It could pit the summons from the base game like oleg, engvall, finlay etc against a boss or strong enemy it would be interesting to see how they deal with these new enemies.

yes because he doesn't have any bullshit moves, if you take your time and learn all of them even if he has the biggest moveset in the dlc (except the final boss) he can be pretty easy to no hit

yeah i play with kb/m but trust me, i'm not the only one lol. a lot of much better players than me do it, see Jordien for example. it's not an advantage or disadvantage, it's just what you get used to. i could never do this with a controller, i find them too unwieldy 😂

how tf do you strafe the dragging spear attack at 0:26? whenever i try that he just wraps straight to me and i get hit every time
bro same. i can almost no hit him, but i’m curious about that trick. it never works for me even locking off.
For others on the struggle : Fingerprint Stone Shield + Bull Goat / Moore / Omen armor set + Heavy Thrust Sword of your choice with bleed infusion. (You need a LOT of vigor, endurance and strength. 48 str alone to wield the shield, 55~ish endurance to not fatroll etc. so my pick was the godskin thruster (the one the noble uses), because you can put a blood aow on it and it "only" takes 17 dex as a sub stat to wield.
Tactic : Shield up at all times + thrust him. After respeccing like 5 times into builds I'm comfortble with and normally play well around, this was the only thing that even remotely came close to beating him and not only that, it was literally on the first try with it. Yes it's kinda cheesy, but honestly Messmer deserves it.
I've finished the dlc and this is the best boss in my opinion

I’ve been at this for 8 hours today and I’ve only gotten to second phase once

Ah yeah don't feel bad. I bashed my head against it solo for about 100 attempts. I literally spent a few runs just trying to dodge without attacking to learn the moveset
It got to the point where I would only use 1-3 estus the first phase but he keeps bouncing around so much the second that I would start getting too twitchy and rolling into every attack
That delayed attack where he drug his spear across the ground was basically guaranteed to hit me every time
Eventually I felt like I got lucky enough with being able to chug estus without immediately getting smacked afterward and stumbled my way through it

A big difference lmsh didn't do it as a challenge on lvl 1 making it harder but still wasn't expecting the no hit challenges to appear until next week
Plus the lvl of the guy will give zero co op matches except for lvl 1 or close characters

im level 129 with maxed nagakiba and im doing the same damage.. how? (its on keen)
he's weak to magic and my build is an extreme glass cannon where 3 of my 4 talis are optimized for max dmg output (blue dancer so i get extra dmg the lower weight i have...hence why i'm naked, red feathered branchsword so i get extra dmg when under 10% hp or sth and radagon's soreseal for extra dmg from stats at the cost of taking extra damage)
still i wouldn't say this kill is too fast lol. it's still 4 minutes of hitless messmer, you have to be very aggressive with your punishes to get this kind of time. i got more optimized kills since tho those are on my channel

Great job, man. I'm trying a similar challenge myself, probably a noob question: how can you tell the difference between the attack at 0:30 and the one at 0:42 ? The second combo needs kind of a preemptive roll otherwhise its impossible to dodge the second swipe (unless I'm doing something wrong) but its hard to tell the difference with that similar initial animation
Only difference I can spot is that in 0:30 he ignites his weapon and starts spinning immediately, and in 0:42 he ignites his weapon, but there's a very slight pause before he starts spinning, don't know if that helps

I'm like level 230 or something, and I'm using several gameplay changing mods that make the game more fun for me, I used the Hand of Malenia katana and I think I used the Black Knife Tiche spirit ash for some extra black flame damage, and occasional focus away from me so I had time to heal lol

These people don't do this on ng... I am on ng+14 and even the fodder can 1 shot. The bosses have 100k+ hp, they show this stuff off on just base game difficulty; you can tell by the hp bar from damage dealt.

Trying out an RL1 too but when I try to copy your dodge in 0:35, sometimes his spear reaches my back. Help please? I have only reached phase 2 maybe 3times. It’s always that move that gets me. Help please!
are you running for it? it'll be very context dependent, basically if he jumped too far away originally you might need to roll under it. the attack has a spherical hitbox around his spear but it barely covers his body. so if you don't think you can make it past him fully then just roll behind him (you don't have to roll the slam, use the light roll distance to basically get behind him faster)
he is using crucible talisman that improves dodge rolling, even if it looks like hes getting hit, the s are still there.

Not necessarily, I believe no armour gives you a much better and faster roll which improves I-frames, could well be why you thought it might have hit but it didn’t

yeah messmers hitboxes ARE NOT THIS FORGIVING. I have attempted him enough times to know that he has lingering hitboxes and larger then they look hitboxes. This guy 100% was cheating.

the most suspicious thing is that he isnt playing with controller like the moste no hit players
honestly I never taught about him cheating because the community is to big and he wouldnt gain anything but shame from it

btw, that guy is probably cheating cuz ive given him like 50+ attempts. His hitboxes are literally so large there are plenty of times this guy should of got hit by "strafing". Also somehow messmer is just not tracking this guy as hard as he tracks me? like its so obvious lol
you should not be making cheating accusations from a place of ignorance. you can check the hitboxes yourself with ertool or cheat engine or get dsas. if you're trying to do what i did (it's my kill) and you still get hit you're messing sth up. like for example rolling in on the double thrust follow-up has to be from a very specific distance - too close and you'll be pushed to the side and hit by the second thrust, too far and you won't get close enough to blindspot the second thrust.
you can also duck under a lot of his swings with cr2s from specific weapons (which i didn't showcase here obv bc i'm using psss lol) but his hitboxes are really lenient.
also when you roll in on the double thrust don't be too far to your right or you'll end up too past him clockwise and will get hit. tbh that roll is so finnicky it's a lot easier to just walk in than roll once you have the double thrust follow-up certain to happen. i got a much faster kill since with much more aggressive strats but that one is on my channel 😂
also learned that when you're at a very specific angle behind him after he returns to neutral he only has three possible follow-ups in p1 which makes it safe to unload your whole stamina bar on him (a full four punish window).
anyhow sorry for the wall of text, i just wanted to make clear that i do know wth i'm doing 😂 ofc it's gonna be hard, these are pretty difficult strats but everybody can do them with enough practice. and please don't accuse random people of cheating 😅
@@mihairus6353 hey, I'm curious, are you using a tool to respawn these bosses to practice and analyze the fight? Or purposely dying in the end to redo it? Since I would like to fight the bosses again without having to start the game over.
@@Zooptopus27 I'm using a tool to practice, it's called ERTool. It keeps my HP low and prevents me from dying (but still allows me to take hits so I know if I got hit or not). Once I've had enough practice I disable the no dying part and only keep the low hp one for Red-Feathered Branchsword and just keep trying until I get it.
