    Yes, Zydrunas is an amazing athlete. However, there's a video of Dmitry Klokov push pressing 495 lbs with flawless technique, at a much lower bodyweight than Zydrunas (around 150 lbs lower). That is even more amazing, if you ask me.

    Although I like the technique of the snatch it is a very precarious lift requiring extreme balance.Many extremely strong men cannot do this lift and are relegated to doing only powerlifting.
    At one time in Britain and I can't seem to find it on internet there was a lifting contest in 1970's that consisted of clean and jerk followed by deadlift and then followed by dumbbell pressing for as many reps at 110 lbs.Many powerlifters despite doing over 700lb deadlifts couldn't get dumbbells up.

      Olympic weightlifting is one of those sports that literally needs to be started at a very young age to succeed.. it’s not like track and field or other sports where you can pick it up over a course of a couple years to become great.. Weightlifting is a league of its own.. very very rarely do you have anyone starting from scratch and making Olympic qualification numbers.
      Again not saying it’s like that with other sports or that they’re easier but Olympic weightlifting is just a different monster to other sports

      The irony of powerlifters is that they lack power. They have tremendous strength but unlike weightlifters they lack the velocity and technique to go with that strength.

    Crazy how some of those Jerks would have been given the red light in 2020 olympics for "press-out" especially on Marcin Dolega's first attempt on the C&J

    And now we have the 95kg class cleaning as much as these guys... There is hope for a super human society yet

      @zf621 Год назад

      Lmao who is clean & jerking more than these guys at 95? The guys in 2008 and 2012 were doping to the max something lifters today can't really do anymore due to advanced technology. Weightlifting now is weaker.

  • @loluskekus

    Shit... Good old days without shitty judging. I'm almost sure today's judges would red light Aramnau's 200 and 236 for slightest elbow movement

    • @nitrow8881
      @nitrow8881 2 года назад +1

      That's the rules mate the rule states your elbows cannot bend when snatching and jerking. Pressing is forbidden. In-fact the judges have gotten better at spotting these.

    • @nitrow8881
      @nitrow8881 2 года назад +1

      @@loluskekus I don't mind the rules. If you don't like it though then watch crossfit. They allow push presses in clean & jerks. I just realized your comment was 2 years old I thought it was 2 months 🤷‍♂️ Sorry for interrupting.

    • @suchen403
      @suchen403 6 месяцев назад

      i guess that might be part of the reason they let weight class change to reset all the old records so everyone can start fresh with new rules.

    Armanau's clean and jerk was still in motion and in the European WC of 2014 you can see him getting called out on that exact same lift and he totally stunk in that championship. I can't stand the guy as a lifter and the only one of these lifters to progress from this time is Klokov which you can all find out here on RUclips.

    @liiiiiiiiiike no you are wrong and the world record holder rezazadeh is proof, he is monsterously strong and has relatively poor technique for a world class lifter but hes still the best because his strength and power make up for his relative lack of technique.

    No one calls weightlift winner the strongest man on earth. There are many other measures of strength and by the pure definition of muscular strength weightlifting has far too much technique, power and balance reducing the importance on strength in the lifts.

      Agreed (The clean & press, the strength lift, was discontinued by the IWF in 1972).
