varna is based on one's occupation and one's skin color. Varna is four in number 1. Brahmins 2. Kshatriya 3. Vaishya 4. Shudra. The brahmin is the type of varna and there will be several divisional in brahmins itself. That is called Caste (Jati). The caste is related to one's birth.
