    Couple of requests:
    1) can we meet Simey's horsies some time? Would love to meet his cool people friends
    2) if you ever get stuck for a reel idea, I swear I'd watch that clip of him saying "Hi Meg!" whilst taking off over a massive hedge at an event on loop at least 15x a day. Jus' sayin' xoxo

    In decades of riding - young horses, off the track horses, greenies, naughty ones, playful ones, spooky ones, fresh ones - the thing that has always scared me most, ruffled me most, has always been the warmup arenas. It is almost as if every single part of my brain that can coherently plan, assess and react, and anticipate proactively to make decisions to have a productive ride, turns to goo and dribbles out of my ears. Really enjoyed hearing Simon narrate his warmup - some familiar thoughts, but also some things that I think are hugely helpful takeaways for anyone, at any level, going into any form of warmup/show environment, irrespective of discipline. I hugely enjoyed this, and have much to think about that I can apply in my own riding.
    Many thanks, both

It was great with you, Tina, Jammie, Banksey, Pete and Simon all in the same vlog. Simon is hilarious and the interaction between you two is so funny and truly entertaining. Thank you for allowing us a peek into that part of your "eventing camp".

    I really enjoyed this! Some of it is that Simon is a hoot! But he is also very astute and a brilliant rider. The warm up with him talking through it is so educational. Meg, you and Jam looked wonderful! Please keep Simon’s mantra in your head. “I’m really good at this!” Because you are!! Can’t wait for every little bit between now and Badders. Pete did a spectacular job filming as always! Thanks so much!!!

      It’s because as we age, we realize that we are not as indestructible as we once thought, and that our bodies don’t “bounce” as well if we fall. I know at 47, I can manage to tweak something just while sleeping! “What’s wrong with your knee? You’re limping!” Me: “I don’t know, it was fine when I went to bed last night!” 😂 Getting in shape and staying in shape takes SO much more effort than it did when I was 39 even, and if I have to take a break from riding, it takes me FOREVER to get back into full riding fitness and get my confidence back. For me, all of it was easy…until I turned 40! Funny how I suddenly started aging at 40…. I have also read a scientific article regarding women in our perimenopausal and menopausal periods of life having loss of confidence in whatever we are doing being very common. So age and hormones; what a combo! I’m going to keep competing, just at a lower level. I’ll keep going as long as these joints hold up!😅

    LEFT TO LEFT! I knew I wasn’t insane. I just started riding with a new trainer after years of riding on my own and when I brought up “left to left” and if I should do that in their arena he was completely baffled. He had no idea what I was talking about and said “I’ve been riding and competing for over 30 years and I’ve never heard of such a thing. I think you might be confused.”
    I left that trainer after 3 very confusing sessions lol.

      We practice this with the kids in lessons, even from very beginner which is mostly what I teach, but these days it seems like a dying art in the warm up ring!! Probably thanks to trainers like that!

    • @Agoddamnbetch
      @Agoddamnbetch 4 месяца назад

      @@emmadm826 Left to left and do you also have faster riders passing on the inside when going the same direction? I’ve been to a barn where the faster horse is on the outside and they consistently had horses crashing into each other. I feel like the etiquette has changed in the past 10 years lol.

    • @margauxnodvin7478
      @margauxnodvin7478 4 месяца назад

      @@AgoddamnbetchI’ve always been taught to pass left to left when coming from opposite directions, and have known it to be a common practice during my 30+ years of riding (writing that just made me feel old!😂). However, I’ve never heard a rule about faster horses needing to pass on a particular side. I’ve always just called out “heads up, coming to your inside” or the reverse. I’m crazy warm up rings, I’ve always been taught to announce which jump I’m headed to with a “heads up vertical” or whatever, so other riders know where I’m going. Most of them do the same. The ones who just go flying around the warm up arena without ever calling a “heads up” are the ones who cause near collisions (or actual collisions. I’m usually on the larger horse, so I can handle being run into by a pony or smaller horse. But still…)
