Dave you are definitely one of the greatest J-Vloggers on RUclips. It would be an absolute honour to meet you one day. It's my intention to come to Japan again after I graduate from uni. Haha this video was especially helpful!
+P3MC Appreciae it P3. I'm shocked at the support and will continue to work on improving the quality of videos. Thanks always for supporting the channel.
Hey Dave, nice video. I smiled when you explained about the funeral flowers. It´s great that she was clever enough to guess the indirect mistake. Cheers.
Yes I agree. I had an ex in China who slammed me if I made these kind of cultural mistakes. She was a bad apple! Dave's girl gets extra points for that big time.
You don't even have to joke about HelloTalk having connection problems. It really does. With that said, it does get the job done...even outside of Japan. Looking forward to going to Japan next year!
Funny that you mentioned HelloTalk. Thats how I met my Korean girlfriend. It started out as a simple hello, how are you message, and then it turned into a language meetup, and then that turned into just hanging out, which in turn turned into dating. And then bam. Good video man. I plan on doing the English teaching route after I finish my army tour here in Korea.
Great video as always :) I'm always happy when I see a new video uploaded by you XD On a side note: The time waiting to hear back from interac is a KILLER @_@
Dude, people outside Japan think it's way different but if you're confident and friendly it's fine. I met someone, got invited to a party, got on really well and then it was easy. No different to at home :)
Great topic, but now I have a burning need to know more about Kei Cars! I really don't want to get a car in Japan, but I wonder if those might be an easier route...
ive been watching your videos for awhile now. i gotta say im really impressed with the way of life in japan for a westerner. i almost have recieved my bachelors degree and i really feel strongly about trying to move over there and teach english. i love the japanese culture and language and would really love to learn the two. an idea for your next video maybe you can show us some cool nightlife spots you like in tokyo. what does one do on the weekend? i hear there are alot of arcades and cool nightclubs in tokyo. it would be awesome to see those in a video.. cheers for now
love the vids man keep up the great work!!!! could you please make a vid on studying/living abroad in japan for a year? thank you and keep up the great work!!!!
I love your videos! It was funny: you spoke about that app that makes talking to others who speak a different language easier, and I heard you say "hullo talk." I assumed it was a cute app name. I spent quite a few minutes trying to find this app, and couldn't find it! Little did I know you were actually saying "hello talk" which makes more sense, but because of your accent, I misheard. Lol! I'm a US Colorado resident so I have a weird accent too! Mine's a western twang where we say "crick" instead of "creek" so I'm weird too. Just thought it was funny. ;)
I get what you were saying about Hello Talk, but having used it, I had the opposite problem. I wanted to use it for language exchange. Everyone who wanted to talk to me wanted to try and date me (without even knowing a thing about me first). :/
nice video man. you will also come across ppl who are just looking to keep a foreigner as a trophy or an accessory lol I have seen that before. Although you can genuine ppl at social events like bbqs or any festival in japan. thats how I met my x.
I was told by a teacher that my favorite flower relates to death and funerals in Japan, so I'm guessing that the flowers that he mentioned were chrysanthemums for anyone who was wondering.
It seems many Japanese girls are using Tinder to make international friends and/or practice their English. Some might be interested in romance but I don't think many are into mere skin. This might only be true of the Tokyo area, though.
K car memoirs=)Would these dating tips still apply to people in their late 30s and 40s?When I lived in Japan, I met my GF through friends of friends..we hung out casually and just "happened". I also agree language makes a huge difference. She knew some English and I spoke Japanese..sometimes we joked about each others speaking and brought us closer
+OMGuyjin (OMGuyjin) Oh ya, for sure. You really could meet any person of any age if you simply look for the right social setting that these resources give you.
Certainly. There is of course no replacement for personality and actually looking attractive but every foreigner to some extent carries with them that exoticism.
Valentine's Day is for men and women at least in my country. Not only you give gifts, flowers or do something nice for your girlfriend or wife but you olso receive gifts, usualy men don't get flowers from women :)
+Grani Chon Obviously, anyone he is dating will have an orgasm with the superior horsepower and lightning speed of acceleration of such a legendary car.
I have my own tip for you guys in Japan! My cousin that lives in Japan recommends to go to any large library and visit the "English" section. There you will most likely be approached by a Japanese girl. Holy shit that's smart! Isn't it?
decided to do some squats to work on my legs, didn't realize it would work out my lower back too, oh well i needed to do them so i can use my bowflex longer, just drank my protein and sitting back started to watch this, ah i'm going to have to get more protein in me too or i'll be dead tomorrow, and tons of water
oh im only using my weight, i don't have any kind of machines i use. i do have a punching bag.... which i should use, bleh im just working on lower body at the moment, mmm but i may start boxing again.. yeah i should probably add that to it hmm well i think i mentioned i have sciatica, but i have been reading Gelatin (stuff that makes jello) helps and possibly gets rid of that, and i have been using it for 2 days, (some people say it takes about a week) mmmm hard to tell if there is a difference yet, anyway its supposed to go to bones and the disc's in your spine, man when i answer something i go off into other area's. DISCIPLINE is what i need.
Let me tell you about hello talk Lol Girls see in my Bio that I am moving to Japan next month. I get the question "you have a gf?" I say no. Then they say I'm excited to see you and this is without me saying I would meet them in the first place. Anyway yeah I have like 4 girls who want to meet me and they say "I only want to learn English" yet they send me pictures all day and all our conversations are in Japanese. Which is fine with me because I really need to learn, so I see it as a double win 😂😂
1st! (yay!) Ok so I use HelloTalk in order to learn some Japanese and for that reason it is very helpful. But it is true that many use it indirectly as a dating app. Many times you will find your 2nd interaction with somebody to go along the lines of "do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend" instead of "why do you want to learn Japanese" So much so that many actially change their profile pic to just a cartoon character with a red cap.....see what I did there?😂 Good luck to all who are looking for love. Nice vid Dave
+IMPORT JAPAN So when they ask "Why do you want to learn Japanese?" they are indirectly asking "Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?" I've been asked this sometimes, just curious.
+SnuggleWarrior No No haha, I am saying some ask why you want to learn Japanese. Others ask if you have a bf/gf. So different people use it. I use it to make friends and learn Japanese :D
+SnuggleWarrior I take it you are a foreigner :D if you are not spoken for you might very well get yourself a significant other. But dont be fooled. Most do not even care to have a Western counter part. Good luck with your endevours :) Perhaps youll see my profilw on there as well....as friends......nothing more......stop staring at me like that.....what are you doing??.....hey! stop that!!! XD Have a great day man.
+DaveTrippin Perhaps best just to avoid flowers altogether then haha. I was only curious because I spent a few months in HK and learned that white had similar connotations. Yes, it represented purity (as it does in the West) but it is also primarily viewed as a colour of mourning. On a side note, there was a rather good mission in the game Sleeping Dogs (set in HK) - don't know if you're played it - which was set at a wedding that turned into a complete bloodbath. Your character wore a white suit in that mission. Not sure if it was intentional but it was a nice touch either way.
+ The player Diskauskas just use everything he said in the video accept be slightly more flirty and whitty. Just be that guy that looks the girl right in the eyes, puts his hand down on the table or on the wall behind her and tease her (any of this is NOT anything along the lines of too aggressive only if you are able to pull off gentle confidence)
hahaha i already met a girl via hello talk xD, in my defense i was actually looking for a language exchange partner but she started flirting with me! xD
+DaveTrippin The Japanese does use Facebook? It seems difficult to actually find them,I believe it is because they are using the Japanese name? .....wait....they are using Line???seriously??
The second I heard "do you know what kind of flowers these are?" I knew you'd done goofed! :')
Dave you are definitely one of the greatest J-Vloggers on RUclips. It would be an absolute honour to meet you one day. It's my intention to come to Japan again after I graduate from uni. Haha this video was especially helpful!
+The Journeyman Cheers Journeyman. I'll hold you to that meeting. First rounds on me.
Just found your channel through Sam, and subscribed! Also I've had great luck with hello talk.
+Herb Toker It does work wonders doesn't it.
Awesome as always man , i see the channel growing, keep it up (Y)
+P3MC Appreciae it P3. I'm shocked at the support and will continue to work on improving the quality of videos. Thanks always for supporting the channel.
Hey Dave, nice video. I smiled when you explained about the funeral flowers. It´s great that she was clever enough to guess the indirect mistake. Cheers.
Yes I agree. I had an ex in China who slammed me if I made these kind of cultural mistakes. She was a bad apple! Dave's girl gets extra points for that big time.
+Fernando Marino Whoops. Life mistake number 3.3 billion

First Name Last Name Haha yes that's how it can go. Good luck on your adventure.
Good advice. meetup event in your area are also good like facebook for finding people with similar interests.
Always helpful, Dave. You're awesome, man. Keep up the great videos!
+MrSomeguy505 Cheers guy I'll have a cool one up for this weekend.
Great video as always :) I'm always happy when I see a new video uploaded by you XD
On a side note: The time waiting to hear back from interac is a KILLER @_@
+Kayleona PFFFFT. You're gonna get hired. Don't sweat it.
Haha, thanks! ^_^ Even so, just waiting to /know/, though.
I actually just heard back, Dave! I GOT THE JOB! I'll be going to Japan, and I couldn't be more excited!
+Kayleona hey that's awesome Kay! Congratulations. You ma'am are coming to Japan.
I am! And I don't think I could be more excited right now! Now here's hoping that I get placed in or near where I want to be, haha :3
Do you plan on staying in Japan and make that the place you remain settled at?
I am not totally sure yet.
Dude, people outside Japan think it's way different but if you're confident and friendly it's fine. I met someone, got invited to a party, got on really well and then it was easy. No different to at home :)
I should have started my assignment 15 minutes, but I've been watching your video...again :)
+Paweł Parol Good man... Don't stop.. assignments can wait ;)
Great topic, but now I have a burning need to know more about Kei Cars! I really don't want to get a car in Japan, but I wonder if those might be an easier route...

if you haven't already lol
HAHAHAHA omg Dave noooo that bit about the flowers. I feel like that could've happened to you anywhere tho, that whole language of flowers thing.
+Cain0001 Brutal at the time. Funny after ;p much like. Life.
I was laughing before you got to the flower punchline. I was thinking, 'He bought mums!' Great video.
That was a major goof on my part.. haha.
Lol! Just thought it was funny. ;)
+Andi J Haha. Yeah accents are pretty awesome. I had never actually realized the difference in the way I say that. It's true and it's pretty funny.
I get what you were saying about Hello Talk, but having used it, I had the opposite problem. I wanted to use it for language exchange. Everyone who wanted to talk to me wanted to try and date me (without even knowing a thing about me first). :/
Aww everyone wanted to date you... What a rough life ;p
yes, but "Hi, what's your name, want to date?" isn't **really** wanting to date me...
Like your tiny K car. Thanks for the dating tips. Enjoy your videos.
nice video man. you will also come across ppl who are just looking to keep a foreigner as a trophy or an accessory lol I have seen that before. Although you can genuine ppl at social events like bbqs or any festival in japan. thats how I met my x.
+DjYolz Yes we do make ourselves vulnerable when we dive into the relationship madness.
When you purchased the
"Death Flower of Evil" the person didn't offer condolences?I miss the Bilbo Baggins jacket you had on in the past few videos.
+Peragulator Oh.. The jacket is coming back!
I was told by a teacher that my favorite flower relates to death and funerals in Japan, so I'm guessing that the flowers that he mentioned were chrysanthemums for anyone who was wondering.
Love your channel!
+Sporxable Appreciate the kind words. Thanks so much.
"Bitches love flowers!" Hahaha! What did you buy, Lilys? I think I'd prefer a cactus, no pollen ;)
Where did you get your thumbnail from?
I looked up anime kissing then edited in my logo and the text.
It seems many Japanese girls are using Tinder to make international friends and/or practice their English. Some might be interested in romance but I don't think many are into mere skin. This might only be true of the Tokyo area, though.
hai sensei aligatogozimasu, loving the sign off echo lol sweet. wonderful tips too the flower bit was funny though lol.

When you said foreigners are desirable because they are "exotic", is it true for people with darker skin such as Indians or black people?
Certainly. There is of course no replacement for personality and actually looking attractive but every foreigner to some extent carries with them that exoticism.
DaveTrippin I understand. Thanks for replying!
Will this work im native
good vlog, lol funny about flowers.
+Donald Smith I wish I could say I rarely made a mistake like that. But then I'd be lying haha.
After watching this, I kind of want to try the funeral flowers on Valentine's Day just to troll them.
+bluesplus1 haha no doubt!
Valentine's Day is for men and women at least in my country. Not only you give gifts, flowers or do something nice for your girlfriend or wife but you olso receive gifts, usualy men don't get flowers from women :)
+Ramunas117 Sounds like a good setup.
+Ramunas117 oh you receive something alright, at night time usually wink wink
Thanks for the tips.
Is having such a beast of a car like yours is an advantage ?
+Grani Chon Obviously, anyone he is dating will have an orgasm with the superior horsepower and lightning speed of acceleration of such a legendary car.
Don't forget the spacious interior !
I have my own tip for you guys in Japan! My cousin that lives in Japan recommends to go to any large library and visit the "English" section. There you will most likely be approached by a Japanese girl. Holy shit that's smart! Isn't it?
+SnuggleWarrior I have got to check that out just to see if it works.
+DaveTrippin Please do lol
sorry for going off topic but is the thumbnail of an anime or is it just a drawing
+Alpha Good question... I'm not totally sure...

I'mmm.. not... . sure. haha.

i choose to stay single always have been always will be
+Justin M awh man why would you stay single don't you get lonely?
less problems that way, relationships are never what they are on tv, it's overrated i've seen enough to know that. its depressing but its true.
yes you do get lonely but the longer your single the easier it gets
i've seen more miserable people in relationships than i've seen miserable single people
i can keep going
ur audio kinda bugs me idk, just a lil
good video, can we get dating tips for getting laid please?
+Zaidejas Diskauskas I thought this was? Although I suppose I could be more specific...
likewise, i want to improve my chances as much as i can

ahhhh death flowers hahaha what the junk, i knew there is a lot of symbolism in japan but even flowers? ah well
+Justin M Yeah, just my luck.

Meeting someone to date on Facebook and tinder is so creepy:/ . Tip? Show confidence and be gentle when approaching a lady IN PERSON.
Cool ! :)
