- Good Times with Dark Times - shows the fun you can have playing with two sequencers at once! Starring two Doepfer Dark Time seqs, Moog Voyager, and vintage rockers the Arp Odyssey and Korg MS-20. And a giraffe and a pumpkin.
Double the pleasure, double the fun. Thanks for the “pick me up”
Never change, Kjartan.
always good to watch your videos!!!
true, i aspire to have this positive energy and vitality
So do I! Thanks 😊
Love your enthusiasm! And you’ve got a talent for great drum beats. All around a fun jam! Thanks!
Your videos about synths are peak comfiness
I found your channel the other day and I just love your enthusiasm and knowledge. Learned a ton in your MS-20 video! Loved this!
Thanks - glad the vid helped!
what a great composition and metallic effects I love how they all synchronize at the same time 💙
More please Kjartan! Your videos are the perfect pick me up in lockdown UK. Thanks
Glad they've helped!
Very cool! Looks and sounds great fun!
Great stuff Kjartan, thanks.
Glad to see you again ! Keep it up!
LOVE IT MATE!
Well it turned out to be a good thing you bid on both of them and won.
I was very lucky! But just having one completely transforms what you can do with an old synth.
Never ever ever stop doing videos!
Still because of you it's fun to learn abstract mathematics
😂Love u
Very good video and music! I know the DDT doesn't have ratcheting, but I was wondering if by having two of them you might be able to get a semi-ratcheting effect. Do you think that might be possible?
Good question! I've sort of managed to make the second DDT ratchet the first, but it isn't pretty. The second DDT needs to have its divider set to the rate you want the ratchet at. DDT1 needs to be set at 2x8, and you use the gate output of row 2 to start/stop DDT2. You also need a voltage mixer (I've got a moog CP251) to add the gate outputs of DDT1 row1 to gate outputs of DD2. Then when a gate fires on DDT1 row 2, the DDT2 comes on during the note and adds its faster gate pulse to the mix. It takes lot of fine tuning to get it to work! I must say, an easier way simulate ratcheting to have a delay pedal (see my MF104 in the video) which can be muted/unmuted by the gate from DDT row2.
@@murderousmaths It's impressive that you went through that process. I'll be ordering two DDTs. Not specifically in hopes of achieving ratcheting... mainly for controlling two different synths. But it seems like having two opens up some weird and fun possibilities you couldn't do with just one. Thanks for sharing your processes! The delay gate muting tip is pure gold!
There's a lot you can do using the gates from DDT1 to control start/stop/reset of DDT2. Have fun!
What’s the difference between skip and jump?
You're not talking about athletics are you? I hope not! Here goes:
JUMP is a shortcut to using several SKIPS. If you have a sequence playing steps 1-8 and you just want notes 2345 to play, you can set 1, 6,7,8 to SKIP, or you can set 2 and 5 to JUMP and the sequence will cycle between them 2345.
At about 4:20 on the vid, I had step 4 on JUMP. With just one JUMP the DT plays 1234. I then clicked step 3 to JUMP and it then only plays 34.
