    Remember this story if you ever think it's a cute idea to hold a baby tiger for photos. Joe Exotic is by far not the only breeder doing this and I don't think that any legitimate operation that truly had animal care in mind would allow for this type of thing.

    • @Lithaldatwin
      @Lithaldatwin 9 месяцев назад +50

      thankfully it's now illegal in the US to pet cubs so the breeding will stop thanks to Big Cat Rescue for working so hard to get the Big Cat Public Safety Act passed into law

      @kansasgoldilocks 9 месяцев назад +16

      @@Lithaldatwin Yes, it's a great step in the right direction. Unfortunately, a lot of U.S. tourists still engage in this kind of stuff abroad in countries where it's either legal or unregulated.

      this but for every animal!

    • @reachinghigher4259
      @reachinghigher4259 8 месяцев назад +10

      They wouldn't. That's why Big Cat Rescue - the very organization Joe Exotic tried to disparage - spent so many years trying to get BCPSA passed...and finally did! Now no one can privately own big cats (although I believe people who already did can keep them if they are registered and do not get more,) breed them, sell them, or do cub-handling operations with them.

      Illegal in Europe. No private person can have exotic animals.

    For those wondering. If you’re visiting the Denver area. This sanctuary is open to the public and is about 45 minutes northeast of Denver. Tickets aren’t particularly cheap as this isn’t a zoo, but you’re helping a great cause! Hopefully they someday get to open their next refuge in the SE corner of the state!

      100% echo this comment. You can see in the video that they have an elevated walkway you can use to walk through the facility. They put it up high so the animals are less likely to even know you are there. The founder of this shelter is an absolute hero. He helps animals from all over the world live natural lives in their optimal environments.

    • @Itried20takennames
      @Itried20takennames 8 месяцев назад +1

      They were breeding them for because they made most of their profits from the cubs, which they could sell tickets to see and pet. Once an adult, the tiger is harder to transport and exhibit and less of a draw than the cubs, plus adults are more expensive to keep….leading to a preference for cubs that they did not have a good plan on how to care for later.

    I’m glad they’re doing much better now. I felt so bad for them hearing they were being fed expired lunch meat etc.

      White tigers aren't naturally occurring. They are linked to inbreeding unhealthy tigers.

    I am so grateful for this rescue mission. I wish people would have stopped to think WHY they could take those pictures with the baby tigers. Animals should never ever be exploited, let alone for profit.

    So happy these majestic creatures get to live a happy life where they’re well cared for.
    As for Joe Exotic, now he gets to know what it feels like to be locked in a cage. When he’s sitting in his cell at night, that’s barely big enough for him to turn around in, maybe he’ll understand what those Tiger’s felt like for all those years.
    Even then, he’s still better off than the animals he ‘cared’ for, as he’s not stuck in a tiny cage 24 hours of the day, 7 days a week like those Tigers were.

      Yeah he also put them in a cage... How AMAZING

    • @blackwidow5762

      @@heathclark318 Yeah, cause if he sets them in the wild, they won't know how to survive on their own due to their upbringing, and they'll either starve or get killed by other predators. At least these cages have a lot more space so it's close enough to being in the wild without putting them at risk. AMAZING what you can learn when you actually educate yourself.

      @@blackwidow5762 Its more to do with the hybridization of the cats here in the US, than big cats not being able to reacclimate to the wild. It has been done successfully with cats along with many other species... Again the more you know right lol

      @@heathclark318In the right mindset some can be released back into the wild, but sometimes that cannot happen.
      This can be due to the animals behaviour or health (usually health conditions prevent this).
      Sanctuaries and reserves can protect animals who can’t go into the wild or who are endangered, they can also educate people about animals and why they are necessary for our existence and the balance of our world.

    This is so wonderful and makes me feel so happy for the animals, they look healthy and happy ( maybe a bit chubby??). I felt so horribly for the animals in tiger king, but this is just the best to see!

    I'm so thankful to all the legitimate sanctuary owners and staff across the country taking care of these abused animals. I'm glad the laws are changing so that these beautiful animals don't fall into evil hands (at least not as often).

      The BICPSA (Big Cat Public Safety Act) was championed by Carole Baskin, the very woman that Tiger King let Joe Exotic slander. If not for Carole's tireless work, Joe Exotic would be allowed to keep his animals, and thousands more like him would be abusing tigers to make cub-petting profits.

    I couldn’t stand that show. It upset me and angered me. It’s lovely to know how much better things got for the animals.
