The driver you thought was John Lennon is actually Sir Jackie Stewart ( a tripple world champion 1969, 71 and 73 and legend ). He retired before his 100th race after his team mate was killed in qualifing. He pushed for more safety at a time when it wasn`t a popular thing to do. He still attends races today and can often be seen walking around the padock before a race. Those old V10 and V12 enginges were awesome, its a shame they dont still have them. Please check out the film Rush, its the true story of the Nikki Lauda and James Hunt rivalry, its also the best film about F1 so far.
Formula One was once a 'men in sheds' sport, where a few motor engineers from the WWII generation got together to build fast cars and race them around old airfield perimeter tracks. It's very different today.
23:04 that safety car in fact was there according to the rules. The cars which you can see in front of it are the lapped ones which were allowed to pass the safety car to unlap themselves. The car behind safety car is not lapped and is leading the safety car queue, therefore it cannot overtake the safety car.
I don't know where the American vision of mercedes reliability comes from. In Europe german and definitely Mercedes cars are well-known for their reliability. In general, they are some of the most all-round cars their are made. But I may suspect it is to the lack of regular maintenance in America and the Mercedes and other European cars being built with smaller margins in design. So what would be just a small hiccup for other cars can lead to bigger problems if not fixed of controlled like they are designed for.
Mikael schumaker is the biggest name in F1 imo. He had an ski accident and hit is head against a rock. He is alive but really no one knows if he even can know that he is alive, serious brain injury😢
1:38 Up until Liberty Media took over F1 in 2017, THIS piece of music from Fleetwood Mac's song "The Chain" was the F1 intro soundtrack for almost 40 years.
If the teams had the option, then they would sacrifice all safety for a second faster a lap. That is one of the reasons the regulations are there, in order to not give the teams the choicr of disregarding safety
Since you're a McLaren fan, maybe you could take a historical look back at Bruce McLaren and other drivers from that era such as Jack Brabham, Denny Hulme, Chris Amon, Jacky Ickx, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, and Stirling Moss - "the greatest driver never to win the F1 Championship"! I'm showing my age with that line up! 😂 I have just watched three of your reaction videos and am finding them quite enjoyable. Thumbs Up! 👍
Its important to remember Roland Ratzenberger. Senna's crash has not been proven as steering column failure. They had been behind a very slow safety car and its possible that they tyre pressures had dropped enough so that the car bottomed out and caused the crash. There are many theories Schumacher at times used very dubious tactics, which is why, for me, he cannot be the GOAT The V10s hurt when the went by on the track and this with ear-plugs. They were pulling 16-20,000 revs Spoilers and wings started in the late 60's, Lotus started it
That guy who looks like John Lennon is Jackie Stewart, the age of consent in Brazil is 14 so Senna's relationship with that 15 year old technically wasn't illegal, Hunt and Lauda's rivalry inspired the 2013 movie Rush and I recommend this guy's 2021 season recap video for a bit more context on the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.
The safety car is supposed to be in front of everyone else. Here's the thing: when there's a hazard on track (like a crashed car, some debris, etc), it is usually considered unreasonable to put the drivers' lives at an even higher risk. That's why, sometimes they deploy the safety car, a dope car, albeit not even close to the speed of an F1. Overtaking is prohibited while the safety car is on track, unless the person you overtook was on the pits. All the cars must drive behind the safety car until the hazard is removed from the track. This is to force the cars to drive slowly to ensure safety during these dangerous moments. If the hazard is really big, or particularly dangerous, they might red flag the race instead, which means that all cars must return to the pits and the race is on hold until further notice. But back to your comment, the safety car IS supposed to be ahead of the drivers.
Try reacting to Rally group B from the 80's. It was ridiculously dangerous with crowds standing in the middle of the 'track' diving away at the last second with 1000hp cars flying by.

You have V8, V10, n V12 over there in america. The issue is just like everywhere else in the world most people just don't care about that stuff and are happy driving a shitbox. It's only rich people and the resourceful car enthusiast that will drive more powerful, great looking, great sounding sportier cars.
23:04 Latifi crashed in the late stages of the race so the safety car was deployed to allow the track to be cleared. Debris was cleared and then what’s supposed to happen is all or no lapped cars are released. They are allowed to pass the safety car and then race round to the back of the pack. On the following lap safety car comes in and the race resumes. But has they done that they would run out of laps and finish being the safety car so instead they make up grit on rules and only allow the cars between Lewis and Max unlap themselves and as soon as they pass the safety car they called the safety car in and then didn’t wait for it to reach the pit lane but released everybody to race as well. That is literally the only reason Max won the race. You follow the procedure properly and Lewis wins his 8th championship nine out of ten times
in fact, no rules were violated in Abu Dhabi. the circular rule had the wording "any" and not "all", so massi did not violate anything. Lewis just burst into tears once again and created a scandal out of the blue.
