When Death and the Cat were in the cave of souls, why didn't Death appear in any other crystals other than the purple crystal? When Death and the cat meet in the cave of spirits, death destroys all of the Cat's past lives. and as he shatters the crystals, he symbolically mocks them. When Death destroys the Cat's past lives, it only replaces the Cat inside the purple crystal. but why?.. because the purple crystal shows how being obsessed with yourself can lead you to a deadly path. The cat in the purple crystal was clearly self-obsessed, and was getting too high of himself by looking at his reflection. When you obsess over yourself, you are killing yourself from the inside out. And that's why death came out of the crystal and taught the cat a lesson.
