The reason this deserves so much respect is that the batsmen are protected head to toe and they have incredibly light but powerful bats and a far wider array of shots than ever before and Johnson still had them ducking and weaving like it was the 70s. It was so easy for fast bowlers back then but to bowl with such intimidation in 2014 is remarkable.

Still though, effectively ducking under a quick bouncer is actually a really difficult skill. Just look how elegantly Bell sways out the way compared to the way the tailenders awkwardly try to prod at the ball. One sign of a class batsman is how well they negotiate bouncers especially on fast wickets.

Mitch's bowling in the Ashes will go down as one of the greatest cricketing spectacles of the last decade and a half. even though he lacks the prodigious swing of an Anderson, he can intimidate anyone with that pace and bounce. it has been a treat to watch in the last 13 months.

Not gonna happen. Ours practice on concrete wickets because of our sunny climate, yours practice on banana balls because of your oh-so-delightful climate.
Now when Indian teams stop practicing on potato patches they may begin to win on decent wickets away from home.

When you realise this series was the beginning of the end of English test cricket and Mitchell Johnson is one of the reasons the English test side is what it is now in 2022. He single handedly ended the careers of half of this side and there is nobody to replace them now

warren harrison he means 2015 ashes when we got bowled out for 60. 60 all out and winning 3-2 at home cannot compare to A 5-0 hammering and ending the careers of 2 players with fast aggressive bowling.
